The plug is removable allowing you to clean up the bottom part without a cord flopping around. But as with any appliance like this don't get it wet. I've been cleaning it out with a spray surface cleaner which has been working great. All that collects in the bottom is water from whatever you're steaming so it's not like it's nasty. Just dump, spray and wipe out.

Does it have a separate rice bowl? If not, how do you steam rice in it?

No. There is no separate rice bowl. You need to prepare one by yourself.

American plugs don't fit uk sockets . How can I use this without English plug on it .

I purchased this item for my elderly parents. It was ordered in the UK for use in the UK. It duly arrived however the plug is not compatible with a 3 pin UK plug socket. £25 later it now has the correct plug!!
