Here is a simple review: This knife is a great knife, out of the box hair stripping sharp. A very solid knife out of the box with some weight for a small knife. Easy to fold and can open with one hand with no problems. Primary usage for me: Cutting paper, cardboard, plastic cable ties. PROS: Extremely Sharp out of the box Perfect Medium-Small knife. Stainless look incredible Very Solid Lockup It's a Spyderco Low cost budget knife. CONS: Lower quality blade steel 8Cr13MoV will require sharpening in shorter time.

I bought this knife to be an every day carry knife after receiving a smaller Spyderco Byrd model as a gift and liking the reasonable quality for the price. This knife is a good size in my slightly larger than average hands and carries well in my pocket without being too bulky. It is sturdily built and has a solid heft since it is all metal. I use it for the usual box opening, cable and rope cutting duties. The edge holds up well. If you live in a cold climate you should probably not get this version that has metal side grips, get the one with non metallic sides and you won't freeze your hand when gripping the knife in cold temperatures. The belt clip is sturdy although I wish it allowed more of the knife to be hidden in my pocket, about 3/4 inch sticks out. The blade locks open and there is no side to side wiggle. I prefer lock back knives and this one has the release button located midway up the back in a very convenient position. A good knife for a good price.

The Meadowlark 2 is a decent EDC pocket knife. I own a Spyderco Endura as well as the larger version of this knife (Byrd Cara Cara 2). Though the Byrd knives aren't the same quality as the Endura or Delica they aren't the same price either. Considering the price of this knife you still get a lot of quality features. The Meadowlark was a bit stiff at first and definitely not as smooth as the Endura. I also prefer the thumb hole on the Endura to the Byrd style opening but they are both adequate. The knife arrived sharp and the blade didn't have any play in it. The lock back works well and the handle sits well in my hands which are on the large side. Since it is a stainless handle grip can be an issue compared to G10 or nylon handle scales. All of the edges are beveled and it sits nicely in a jeans pocket. The clip has a decent amount of strength but it isn't difficult to place or remove from the pocket. If you are looking for a Delica style knife without the high price then this is a worthy substitute.

This knife is a great value. It is almost identical in size to the Spyderco Delica although with a slightly narrower blade. I love how compact this knife is (it doesn't crowd a pocket like knives with thicker grips) while still being very comfortable to use. The blade easily takes and keeps a reasonable edge though the cheaper Chinese steel is certainly not as good at holding an edge as the steels found in Spyderco's premier knives. A well built, hardworking knife. I've purchased two just so I can have a backup and would readily buy another if I lost one.

I sharpened my old spyderco until the blade became too short to be useful anymore. Then, somehow, it slipped out of my pocket and I lost it. So after a futile attempt to find my knife I ordered another Spyderco knife to replace the lost one. I really like their knives but some of the ones I particularly like cost more than I'd like to spend. The meadowlark model was about the same size and configuration as the knife I lost but it is in their economy line and I found out when I received it, is made in China. It appears to be as high quality as the USA made knives but time wil tell if the steel is as good and if it is as durable. A friend gifted me the first Spyderco and I came to depend on it as I carried it daily for a year or so before I lost it. I like my new knife as well and after I changed the clip configuration to orient properly in my pocket, (a Spyderco feature that is unique, I think) it has taken the place of my lost knife. Spyderco makes wonderful knives-get the best one you can afford.
