Design & Drill Take-Along Toolkit

I know many reviews claim the battery screws are too tiny. The unit we received had small screws, but by no means were they smaller than screws used by many other children's toys. They were made to accept both phillips and standard screw drivers, but you will need the smallest you have (but not so small as the type for eyeglasses). The drill worked right away an my child loves the toolkit! We had a problem because she loves adult tools and tries to hog them! This was a great solution.

Great buy with hours of fun. Got this for my daughter's second Christmas (2 and a half) and she LOVED it...and so did her dad and uncles. She's now four and she and our two year old both love it. The four year old is just beginning to figure out how to make designs...mostly happy to just drill away. We have brought it on vacation since it's in a carry case...only drawback is getting all screws inside and closing it. To solve that I use a small net bag sold for washing clothing to keep them all together and it works great. Cannot beat this for $10 and I have used it alot for gifts...everyone loves it...even the grown ups!

Bought this when my son was almost 2 and he loved it then and still loves it now. I now have another two year old who also enjoys it very entertaining to them. Just make sure if they are still in the putting things in their mouth stage to watch them carefully because these are small parts. My kids are now out of that stage thankfully just thought I would add that in case anyone buys this for a you get child they will enjoy it but watch them if not wait till they are a bit older. Overall great toy.

Grandson, currently aged 3.5, had a good time playing with the Design and Drill. After an initial session where he practiced screwing and unscrewing the various colored screws into the base, and learning how to use the "reverse" (unscrew) on the the cordless drill, he was able to complete a couple of the patterns shown in the booklet with some assistance. It is definitely a toy with educational value and helps children learn to use a smaller grid pattern, and learn how to translate the pattern to recreate the designs shown in the booklet. While making the various designs, our grandson had to count the holes on the pattern and work to find the same position on the larger board. And while our grandson is only 3.5, and remained very engaged throughout the pattern creation process counting and recounting grid spaces to ensure he had the correct position. I can clearly see how this toy could easily be used in an educational setting for children up to age 8 or 9. Owen also enjoyed experimenting the the 3 "drill tips" included in the set, and can quickly distinguish between a flat tip, cross tip, and socket. A skill that is sure to thrill his G-Pop.

I bought this for my 3 year old grandson and he really likes it. He can do it all on his own. It is built nice and I really like that all the pieces fit inside it.

Our 2 year old just loves using the drill.....all over the house. But our 5 year old enjoys making the patterns provided. I read alot of reviews with people complaining about the tiny screw required to install/change the batteries. Yes, it requires a very very small screw driver, but most children's toys already require the same nowadays. I had no problem installing batteries with a tiny screw driver. The only "con" is the set comes with 60 drill bits (as clearly stated), however, there are 64 drill holes. When all 60 pieces are used, the board looks incomplete with 4 empty holes remaining. Our 5 year was upset she didn't have enough drill bits to complete the board. Also, there is no separate storage bag for all the drill bits when not being used. But overall, we still highly recommend.

The reason Im giving a three star is because the cards do not match the bolt colors at all so for a 4-6 year will be difficult to figure out the colos to follow the cards. It truly is a bummer because at that age they are learning colors and the sequences and it is hard to do this with the cards that come with the game because the bolts colors have nothing to do with the cards. Another complaint is the staple to close the case, it doesnt close the case completely we haved use it once and the staple fall of completely. pros: it is an amazing and interesting game! keeps kids busy but I really hate that the case doesnt close and the bolts do not match at all the cards.

My boy love it

Mein Sohn hat es sich so sehr zu Weihnachten gewünscht. Er war so begeistert und wurde ausgiebig getestet . Alle Teile sind schön groß das er mit seinen 3 Jahren super damit spielen kann. Mit dem Schraubendreher kann man rein und raus drehen. Das einzige was mir nicht gefällt ist das für den recht hohen Preis der Koffer immer wieder aufgeht. somit fliegt immer alles durch die Gegend. Ansonsten echt schönes Produkt

Great fun for my students, can be a little loud
