Perfect Replacement Part
Our doggie door was showing its age so we bought this product to freshen it up. Exact replacement with no issues at all. Better to just replace what’s needed and save the extra dough for dog food!

Largest size: Sturdy enough for a Bronto
Installation of the largest size dog door was a bit hard because it's wider than the joist spacing in our house, but there's no way around that and it's not the fault of the product. The dogs now have access to the outdoors at will, which is surprisingly frequent. The flaps magnetically seal and keep the house from becoming a wind tunnel even during high winds. The no-access sliding door is strong enough to keep a willful Bronto from barging into the house even at full speed. (Think "Here Fifi! Faster!" from The Far Side.)It's a very well designed product.I recommend installing it somewhere without high speed straight line access for the dogs. Use the same entrance safety techniques as seen at embassies worldwide: there should be a 90 degree turn immediately before entering the door and another 90 degree turn after entry to keep entry speed down.

More than I can chew
Great product. Easy to install if your handy, I am not made quite the mess in the end needed a professional to finish the job. The template for marking the wall/door was ripped and had to be pieced back together. In all the parts were all there. Had to buy the wall inserts separate. And yes it has to magnetic flaps which do cut down how drafty that corner of the living room is. Not a cheap plastic but must be carefully not to over tighten bolts. The female connection are plastic and over tightening can crack them.

Tricky to assemble and install but does the job
Pro: The materials are quality, sturdy, and the instructions are clear. The unit is well designed but requires some facility with tools to assemble and install and the ability to solve a few minor engineering problems because sliding doors are not particularly standardized and this device is a one-size-fits-all.Cons: 1. It only comes in one color (unless I missed something): white. My sliding door happens to be "Ivory" so I either will have to paint it or live with it.2. The flap is very well made, built like a 3-section double-pane window (apparently for insulation) but doesn't work for our small dog, a miniature dachshund with a sensitive pointy nose. I suppose it would work better for a heavy or large flat-face hard-headed dog like a bulldog or pit-bull. So I removed the bottom two of the three horizontal segments and taped two vertical light plastic strips with bottom weights in their place. Now the dog scoots in and out through the center. An optional clear single-thickness plastic flap that could be split vertically in the center would be a good product improvement.3. My main beef, no fault of the manufacturer, is that it doesn't work well on a 6-foot wide door, which has a 3-foot opening, is because after installation you are left with only a 2-foot opening. Fortunately we are not big people but it is an inconvenience, especially if you need to move a large chair or a table in or out. Once installed it can be removed by lifting off its hooks, but this type of unit is more suitable for an 8-foot wide sliding door. Also the sliding screen door has to be closed all the way, blocking the doggie door, or there will be an open space at the free end for bugs. Luckily we don't have many bugs. Conclusion: This well-made, high quality, reasonably priced device is perfect for a strong, flat-faced hard-headed dog when it's placed into a white vinyl 8-foot sliding door. When I get time I will replace it with a through-the wall unit..

The dogs love this door
I have two labs and they love this door. Maybe a little too much because they like to play through it. We got the super xl and it is actually a little too big. Since the dogs are only a year old we purchased based on assumptions they would get a lot bigger (currently 85 lbs).

Have to cut the bolts.......
So overall it is great and it did its job how it was supposed to. I am just glad we had the tools needed to complete the job. The plastic extenders snap in two places to give it three different sizes to use. This worked good and I only needed to snap down one size and it was easy to do. The only problem is that there is only 1 size of bolts.... for the price of this thing, I would expect the bolt/screw sizes you need for whichever size available for this specific extension. Sounds reasonable right? Well no, they only give you bolts for the biggest size. So if you need smaller ones, which you most likely will, you need to cut them to size. Thankfully I had an angle grinder that allowed me to cut through the metal bolts. In the end it worked great, but just be aware that you will probably have to cut the bolts. This was installed on an exterior wall in our garage.

It is somewhat hard to put in
With my dog like it we like the double flaps. That helps cut down any air infiltration. We have the super large because we have a large Labrador and she really likes it. This way you're not slave to the dog. She can go out . when she wants to. If you're going to put it through the wall you need to get the accessory kit cuz otherwise you cannot get the long bolts they're not available at Home Depot.
