Katzco 7 Inch Plasma Ball Lamp - Touch and Sound Sensitive Electric Globe with Lightning Effects - Plug-in Energy Ball for Parties, Room Decor, and STEM Learning

My grandsons are getting older now11 and 13! Always trying to get the best gifts to them . This one hit it out of the park! They both liked it very much and it was larger than expected! Nothing peaks their imagination more than science! Great gift!

I love this because it reminds me of my younger days. Grandkids love it too. Whenever they stay over, they like to use it as a night light.

Not a bad eye of the storm. Pay attention to diameter of globes before purchasing. This works well, but I will say the base seems a little on the lightweight side compared to my old one. Otherwise it works flawlessly and couldn’t be happier.

The plasma ball itself is great. But I've only been able to enjoy it for a little bit. The power cord it came with was defective. The electrical supply was fine, but the physical barrel plug that fits into the socket on the base of the globe was defective. If I didn't have the plug in a certain way, the ball didn't have any power. It took me a couple tries over 2 days to figure out what was wrong and how to make it work. Using a multimeter to test the power showed that the power supply was working. I eventually took it from my shelf over to my test workbench to try a different outlet and a different cord. And the existing cord worked until I moved the barrel plug in the socket. I inspected the barrel and there are tiny dents around it that seems to prevent the outside spring electrical contact from making physical contact. It was very reliable on what position allowed the lamp to work and what didn't. I tried another 12v power cord with the same size barrel plug and it worked in any orientation of the plug. This is not a reflection of this seller or even the manufacturer of the ball, but of the maker of the tiny little barrel plug. And that might just be a limited defect to the one I got. Fortunately, it's the same size and style of Arduino power plugs and I had a 12v2A replacement on hand to swap out. I also have replacement barrel plugs, so I can cut that defective one off and wire in a new one. Too bad I only have straight plugs and not the 90 degree plugs that this lamp uses. If I could take half a star off, I would, but I can't and I can't justify a full 5 stars with the plug the way it is. And it's not worth the hassle of sending the whole lamp back for a replacement. I have the different power cord and the lamp set up on my shelf, so I'm satisfied with my purchase.

Absolutely spectacular gift for any boy or girl or even adult who is fascinated with science and electricity. The ball is amazing! My son saw this at a field trip he had and mentioned it to me. So I knew exactly what he was talking about and I gave it to him as a gift. Unfortunately, my 5 year old daughter was transferring it to another table. She didn't drop it, but her body swiped it and it fell off the table and shattered... Glass everywhere! If it had decent rubber no-slip pads /feet underneath, this would not have happened since she slightly brushed against it with her tiny body. The other thing I wasn't happy with was that the plasma ball would not 'dance' to music. Didn't matter how loud and how many beats, it didn't respond. In that mode, it only responded to someone facing at it with their mouth and yelling. Each yell would cause it to activate for a short burst. That is why I am giving it 4 stars. I accept responsibility and hold myself accountable. But such a lightweight fragile glass device with no sturdy rubber feet to prevent it from sliding? A shame.

The Katzco 7 Inch Plasma Ball Lamp is fantastic! This touch and sound-sensitive electric globe with lightning effects adds an exciting and mesmerizing touch to any room. It's perfect for parties, room decor, and STEM learning activities for kids. The plug-in energy ball creates stunning static electricity effects that captivate both children and adults. It's a fun and educational addition to any space, sparking curiosity and creativity. Highly recommend this plasma ball lamp for anyone looking to add a unique and interactive element to their home or events!

I purchased a used condition ball that lasted less than one day. It worked at first but shortly after stopped functioning. The ball itself is pretty cheaply made and is fairly light. The base is cheap plastic and ball itself also feels made of very cheap material. As for the effects, it is pretty nice visually and will even light up a bulb when you hold a bulb near it. Its fairly sensitive. Unfortunately, I did was not able to use it for very long before it gave out. Maybe because it was used and already had issues I am not sure. Would I purchase a new one?? Probably not. I would rather save my money and purchase a better quality but more expensive ball that will last longer and is made of more durable material.
