Excellent choice. VESA mount FTW. Reliable. Would buy again.
Literally changed my life. Ok, not _literally_ but the use of a 10,000 LUX lamp for SAD has been incredibly helpful. After reading the research papers, I mounted this one on a VESA stand, the default stand is very stable just FYI so it was just above eye level and angled down (like real outdoor light) and sip my coffee while sitting at my desk for 30 minutes first thing in the morning Sept-April. Bonus: the 30 minute timer keeps me honest and avoids overexposure. The lower settings are excellent for using it as a bright utility lamp. I prefer the minimalist appearance. Well worth the purchase. Might get another and put it on a taller stand for use in my basement gym during those dark months.

Great light unit for winter depression
Wow, this is a great find. Clear bright light, easy to use, works well and does what it was made for. I looks goood sitting on the counter, is easy to use. It was expensive compared to the smaller 8" X 10" units, but well worth the cost. I have SAD (winter depression) and have benefited greatly from using full spectrum therapy lamps (Often called SAD lights). This one has an unusually large screen, rather than sitting close to it, as I have done with smaller versions, I have it on the kitchen counter and turn it on first thing in the morning while I am making coffee and unloading the dishwasher. It's impact has been significant, really helps, I've had little winter depression this year.

Not compatible with smart plugs : (
The light itself is absolutely great. It has definitely helped me to be a little more energetic by using it right when I wake up. It does smell awful for at least a week once out of the box but that isn't by biggest disappointment. I'm disappointed because I've been unable to have it automatically turn on with a programmable smart plug due to the touch style power button. If the power button were a physical switch that could remain in the "on" position then it would work without having to manually turn it on. I was really hoping to have it automatically turn on next to my bed to help wake me up in the mornings, but I have to manually turn it on, which doesn't help me so much (because I'm so lazy in the mornings and don't even want to open my eyes).

Purchased to support circadian rhythm. So far, so good!
I’m in perimenopause and keep hearing over and over how important circadian rhythm is to good sleep and regulated hormones. The recommendation is always to get outside first thing in the morning. For me (and I’m assuming a lot of others out there too) that’s just not realistic. I need to be getting my family fed and out the door, plus weather in the Midwest isn’t always conducive to going outside. I’ve had this light for a few weeks and have been sitting it next to me every morning at the breakfast table. It’s very bright (no surprise there), so it’s not the most comfortable to have blasting in your face first thing, but if it’s doing it’s job, I can live with it. I’ve been sleeping well lately, so hopefully this new habit has something to do with that. I read one review that complained that the stand doesn’t support the lamp in a raised position. Either the reviewer got a broken stand or they didn’t realize that raising the lamp to the topmost position resets the height and allows the lamp to be lowered. There is a mark about half an inch lower that indicates the highest level where it will stay. The base is heavy and sturdy and supports the lamp great! As for the smell, I didn’t notice much of one. Maybe a little bit of a plasticky smell at first, but it went away after a use or two. The reviewers who complained about it must be extra sensitive to smells.

The arm won’t stay up!
This light is very highly rated because it gives off 10000 lux of light and you can be 12-14” away. Wonderful, and for maximum result, it’s supposed to turn down toward you so you get light from above. But, the arm is useless! It’s heavy, poorly designed and will not hold the light up. I’m keeping it because the one I had for 15 years died, but for this price point, it’s disappointing.

My ray of sunshine
This really helped me wake up in the morning. I can never get out of bed and once I started using the slide, I noticed the significant difference.

I’m using it regularly here in Korea as well.
🌞 My Honest Review After 3 Weeks with a Light Therapy Lamp — “Sunnyel” I’ve been using this light therapy lamp for just over three weeks now. I live in South Korea, where light therapy and the concept of SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) are still relatively unfamiliar, largely due to our distinct four seasons. For over a decade, I’ve struggled with insomnia. My sleep schedule had been irregular for years, and it deeply impacted my life. But recently, I experienced a turning point: a neuroscientist I deeply trust emphasized the importance of morning sunlight exposure immediately after waking. So I began stepping outside first thing in the morning to take in the sun. Surprisingly, I felt a kind of joy and fullness I had never experienced before. That sensation led me to create what I now call my “Morning Sun Shower Routine.” It quickly became one of the most precious parts of my day. But whenever the weather was gloomy or rainy, I felt genuinely disappointed that I couldn’t enjoy my morning sunlight ritual. That’s when I discovered this light therapy lamp. After long consideration, I finally decided to give it a try—and I’m so glad I did. I was so moved by how much it helped me that I even gave it a name: “Sunnyel.” It’s not the actual product name—just a personal name I created for it. That’s how meaningful it became to me: it’s not just a lamp, but part of my daily rhythm, like a quiet companion for my mornings. Since using Sunnyel, my sleep pattern has been almost completely corrected. I now wake up before sunrise and sit in front of the lamp for about 30 minutes while I plan my day or read a book. And something incredible happened: by 8:30 p.m., I naturally start feeling sleepy—no effort needed. This lamp has become a key part of my life. Though light therapy is not yet common in Korea, I’m convinced that this kind of product will become much more widespread in the future. Many Koreans suffer from severe sleep disturbances, but we tend to overlook the importance of morning light and circadian rhythm alignment. The only downside is that the electrical voltage in Korea is different, so I had to purchase a separate voltage converter (which cost me around $40). Aside from that, I have absolutely no complaints. I’ve mounted the lamp on a monitor arm and use it every morning without fail. It’s easily one of the best purchases I’ve made in recent years.

Huge improvement over previous model
I just upgraded because my old Carex finally had a bulb burn out after 10 years of use (they no longer make replacements). This is such a significant upgrade that it’s surprising and I wish I did it sooner! It’s lighter, smaller/less obtrusive, has 4 brightness levels instead of 2, has a built in timer, and has the whole thing is white so it’s not as visible. I had the one that was I believe the old version of this, which they still sell now with LED bulbs, and I almost just bought that one. I’m SO glad that I didn’t. Oh, and the plastic smell: it was there a little but not enough to make it unusable, and it had continued to fade with time. I actually put it outside in the sun for a couple days to decrease the smell (best way to get bad or strong smells out of anything). I’m very sensitive to smells BTW.

Look no further. This is THE ONE
I have purchased several SAD lamps of various brands over the years. Quite simply the Carex Day-Light Elite blows them all away. It gets generously bright but spreads that light over a large window so as not to irritate the eyes. I can attest that the light is so bright that just 15-30 minutes a day will give you definite therapeutic results. I woke up one morning feeling tired and a few minutes of this light made me feel super energized. I will give a warning however. If you sit too close to the lamp for too long and too late in the afternoon, it may cause you to have a hard time falling and staying asleep at night, which has never happened to me with other lamps. For that reason I limit the use of this light only to the mornings and I try to stay around 18 inches away. For other lamps I've had to sit much closer. The stand that it comes with is high quality, allowing one to elevate the light and angle it downward toward my eyes, which has a greater therapeutic effect than if it were sitting on a desk pointing up. A big selling point for me is that it is VESA mountable, creating limitless options for how you might want to mount it. I ended up buying a monitor arm so I could attach it to my desk without taking too much desk real estate (see photos). I have not found a better therapy light on the market. This is the one to get and its worth every penny.

You'll easily start your mornings & feel good!
This product has changed my life. I heard about it via Bryan Johnson on Youtube. I wake up and go get my herbal caffeine-free coffee and I sit in front of it for my 30 mins morning light therapy. It has completely transformed my groggy, unhappy & unproductive mornings into awake, happy & productive. I honestly recommend it for anyone. I feel so much better about life. I even wake up naturally most of the time now when I've always needed alarms as I use it around the same time each day. Just use it in the morning as you'll have a hard time going to sleep if you use it later. It's extremely bright & huge but that is studied to perform the best. This model has the power light-touch button. 4 light options (use max for the major benefits) & 15 to 60 mins auto off light-touch buttons. I just set to 30 mins for my session and it automatically turns off & I'm ready to start the day. I've needed this my whole life. It's turned me into a morning person. Try and get it on sale using a coupon or on discount but otherwise it's extremely worth it. Also, don't stare at the light but in the direction of it & put another light on in the room when using it so when it auto shuts off you aren't left in a dark room.

Best one I've used...effective
Excellent sun lamp and really does the job. I have used small sun lamps to no avail. They just weren't big enough to deliver enough therapeutic light unless they were uncomfortably close to my face. I have this one on a stand next to an armchair. I'm able to angle it down so I get the the light at the right angle for my eyes. I use it each morning when I'm doing my Bible reading, so it's easy to incorporate into my day. It has made so much difference. I live in a Northern climate and it's dark at 3:30 or 4pm right now. This lamp helps me feel more energy during the Fall/winter, helps my mood, and especially has helped me sleep better. Usually this time of year my circadian rhythm gets messed up and I don't get quality sleep...the other lamps haven't helped with that but this one has. The other benefit is that unlike other ones I've tried this one doesn't give me headaches. Be sure to use it early enough in the day, preferably within 30 minutes of waking and don't use it for more than 30 minutes.

Light in a dark place!
Lamp was recommended by neighbour who has used it successfully for years. Our high rise apt block is undergoing balcony renovations which entails covering over the affected sections and blocking off daylight for a number of weeks or months durin the Fall and Winter. To alleviate symtoms of SAD, especially during this process, I purchased this lamp. I almost returned it when I couldn't get the lamp to stay at any particular height on the upright arm. When I gave it one last try, I heard a click as I raised and lowered the lamp. Sure enough, if you raise it then lower it slowly it will click into the last position you passed. It is certainly bright . . . too bright for a first try so I turned it down one setting for 45 minutes. I appreciate this option of being able to adjust the brightness. When it shut off automatically, it seemed like I went from bright daylight to night in a fraction of a second. I set it up in an ideal spot where I spend at least a half hour or more when I first get up . . . after some coffee! Hopefully I will go from SAD to glad with this purchase especially during the reno period and later. I will edit this review if I have something to report after a period of usage. So far so good.
