Lovely pot
The media could not be loaded. This is a great pot for soups and stews. The large pot is a do-it-all type of pot that you can braise, boil, stew, and even bake in. It comes with a cookbook with a lot of great recipes to try - and the milk bread is definitely on the top of my list. With all of that said, make sure you dry it immediately after washing and pay extra attention around the lid and top of the pot - it's still cast iron underneath and will rust if you leave it exposed to wet/water/condensation for even a day. If you do get some rust, most will wipe away easily, but if you need to scrub a bit, grab some coarse salt and a wet sponge and that should handle the rest. Once you're done, dry it meticulously and add a bit of oil to protect it. This is now my go-to pot for the winter for all of the soups and stews I make. The lid is uniquely shaped and at first I didn't really like it - but now I love it. It's so easy to grab, and will stand up on it's side easily as well. Highly recommend.

A Top-Quality Enameled Cast Iron Pot
I ordered the 5.9-quart, “deep ocean blue” version of this pot, and there is no doubt that this is a super-premium enameled cast iron pot. The quality of this pot is readily apparent when you pick it up, use it, or even just look at it. There’s simply nothing to complain about here. Well, except for perhaps…The price. There is no getting around the fact that this pot is quite pricey. However, to be fair, this price of this Vermicular pot is in the same ballpark as other top-brand, top-tier cast iron pots from America and Europe. And that brings us to performance. We’ve used this pot four times now and it has performed magnificently. It heats up very quickly, and heats up very evenly too. Everything we’ve cooked in it has turned out perfectly cooked and delicious. So, again, there’s really nothing to complain about here. If you can make peace with the price, I cannot imagine anyone being unhappy with this pot.If you have any questions about this Vermicular enameled cast iron pot, please feel free to ask, and I'll try my best to answer. I hope you found this review helpful.

Beautiful 2 Qt. Dutch Oven
This precisely made, beautifully enameled Dutch oven is one of the nicest looking cooking vessels we own. It is just heavy enough to provide all the benefits of a Dutch oven, but when you lift it you will be surprised that it is not as heavy as it looks. It also has a precisely fitting lid that allows just the right amount of steam to escape through an ingenious double lip on the underside of the lid. The ability to discharge this precise amount of steam insures that vegetables will be cooked while permitting enough moisture to escape to insure that the vegetables will simultaneously sear and be caramelized. A neat trick! Also, being able to stand the lid on the unique handle is a plus; although you might want to do that on foil or parchment to catch the liquid. This Dutch oven can go from the stove to the oven without any difficulty and it sears beautifully. Then you may add liquids and braise whatever protein you are cooking. This Dutch oven is almost a work of art-precise, beautifully crafted, deeply pigmented enamel and the aforementioned perfectly fitting lid.Despite all of this Japanese precision, our pot is small and very expensive. The question you must ask yourself is if these qualities are of sufficient value to you to justify the very high cost of this Dutch oven. It is extremely expensive. If you think the precise construction combined with the amazing cooking qualities will justify the cost go for it. You will not be disappointed by this beautifully made Dutch oven.

Superb at locking in moisture!
Extremely high precision craftsmanship. Everything I complained about my french made LC pot this does better! it is light weight, better handles, better seal, even paint job, and aesthetically modern looking. the downside, however, is that this is a very expensive pot too. similar to the LC pot, you will have to diligently care for the pot if you want it to last. Where this really shines in performance is moisture locking. So if you are roasting something where you want to maintain moisture content, this will do a superb job. The only thing better at locking moisture may be a vacuum pressure cooker but the function and purpose is different. I've baked bread and made many sourdough breads in this and roasted a really juicy and nice pot roast, and roasted vegetables without adding any extra water or stock... just a little salt and seasoning! while i might not stock my kitchen up with a complete set of Vermicular pots, I will now always keep one because of its benefits in its ability to lock in moisture
