What's this !!! A minced beef pie that believe it or not actually contains minced beef !!! now there's a novelty in this day and age... You might be thinking to yourself "what's he on about ?"... It's quite simple really, for years now finding a minced beef pie from the supermarket or freezer store that actually contains minced beef and is instead filled with something that is akin to the texture of sawdust or has so little filling of gawd knows what that you'd be forgiven in thinking the production line must be broken and the filling section must missed your pies. Not forgetting the "gravy" that is either tasteless or something that you'd spit out faster than a mouthful of TCP, then buying a simple edible and enjoyable minced beef pie from such places is about as elusive as a politician saying something honest... That was until I decided to try the wonderful Lewis pies and boy am I glad I did... The price per pie compared to the aforementioned sources while it might be more expensive simply doesn't matter when what you get is something to eat that is throughly tasty, enjoyable, filled to the brim with REAL minced beef filling and you can actually enjoy... These pies are almost perfection, with plenty of filling of tasty filling (doubt they could get any more in each pie) and of course they actually contain minced beef that you can taste and feel the texture of.... The top crust is just right and nice and crispy when cooked in the gas oven... The pastry of the pie casing is also very tasty and is neither soggy nor too hard when cooked. The pastry of the pie casing is the only minor "gripe" I might have regarding these pies, as some of the pies (not all of them) had very, very thick casings (almost 2cm) which while tasty just feels a little bit too thick in texture when eating but I suppose that's most likely down to the pies probably being hand made/ produced but a little more consistency in that dept would be most welcome (1cm thick which most were is just about right)... I had always put off buying fresh food like this on Amazon as I was often worried how they would be packed and if they would arrive undamaged, I needn't have worried on that score... The pies were delivered all the way from Wales to Scotland in less than 24 hours and arrived in perfect condition. The packaging is the best I've even seen something like this purchased online delivered in, very carefully wrapped and protected with a special frozen ice bag to keep everything chilled and fresh and when you consider what the packaging must cost and the fact the delivery was free (I don't even use Amazon Prime) then that alone make these pies worth every penny... Basically I know one things for sure, no more buying pies from supermarkets or frozen food stores be it their cheap or expensive ones and wondering just what on earth you are actually eating... When it comes to minced beef pies from now on then these Lewis pies are the only ones for me (even if I have to sell a kidney or two to afford them, pretty sure the missus wont mind me selling her kidneys if it mean we have a nice tasty diner)...

The mince filling is perfect as I think others don't understand there are reasons it can't be jam packed as the meat need the 'air space' to cook/steam... I have bought other meat/pastry products from the seller based on this and I am awaiting their arrival as I speak. Cooked Pie is beautiful with the crunchy pastry being tasty and perfect. Pie base pastry lost it's 'pasty' texture and was perfect because I cooked it 'well done' ;-) 25 minutes in and Air Fryer at 390F. I'm upping from 4 stars to 5 Good good good... Yumski! Second purchase made from me and the other pies as mentioned above were fantastic too. Don't hesitate.

Giving them a go didn't see cooking instructions but messaged them to ask if can cook from frozen? Yes u can. But had to try message for cooking instructions not heard back yet!. But they are a good pie, which you have to pay for quality in a pie so they are recommended from me. With a little stronger flavour and fairly well packed with filling.

One word, beautiful. I ordered the mince beef and onion and they were delicious. I will be trying the steak ones next. Very good value for money and the size of the pies are larger than I thought they would be. Packaging also excellent. Would definitely recommend...
