The Girl Who Loved Wild Horses Review: Love this book! - I really loved The Girl Who Loved Wild Horses. This book won the Caldecott Award because of the artwork and it is very obvious why it would win that award. The artwork painted a whole story just on its own. The artwork made each page have ,more intensity and truly gave the book a deeper feeling. Aside from the artwork the story was great. The book did a great job of recognizing the native culture and how important the horses are to this culture. The story kept me on the edge of my seat wondering what could possibly happen on the next page. The book give a good message about finding where you belong and not giving up. The girl spent many years finding where she belonged and was able to find ultimate peace exactly where she was supposed to be. Review: A must read, Story & artwork is Amazing! - Amazing! The story is unique but still carries a classic children's book lesson. The artwork has brilliant depictions of the story that will cause strong emotions within the reader and draws them deeper into the story. Or at least that's how I feel about this book. I first read this book when I was a young child. It was one of the first books I could read on my own and I will never forget the feelings it created, it truly gave me a passion for reading. And I'm not ashamed that 27 years old I still go back and read this book from time to time. Or just to look at the artwork and get inspiration for my own writing. I just bought this book for my cousin's baby shower gift. I knew it wasn't the normal type of gift for the situation but when I thought back on the things that meant the most to me when I was growing up this book came to mind, and as much as it is a book for older children I thought it would be a great book for her to read to her little girl and hopefully help her to learn to read someday. If you're looking for a book for young girl I highly recommend this whether she has a passion for horses or not. This book is truly amazing and hopefully, like me, it will inspire her.

The more I look the more there is to see...
I am an adult and am not above investing in the nurturing experience of a good children's book: I will read the thickest, wordy Victorian literature, or other book, but I find children's literature such a satisfying read once in while, too. (After all, don't most children's books make children happy?) This book, through an entertaining story, educates about the indigenous people of North and South Dakota. It gives that exotic vibe of a different culture to those unfamiliar, and reinforces to those familiar. But the artwork of Paul Goble! His authentic research shines through on every page! The clothing is very detailed! And these paintings look like the way the symbols of the animals would be drawn by indigenous people!!! No wonder this book got the Caldecott!!! And for horse lovers....could there be a more romantic horse story? All horse lovers will dream as they read this story....and then want to dream it again: horse lovers will connect deeply with this story. Oh dear, Amazon: you have done so well on all my other orders but you need to know: please send this paperback book with some kind of protective flat reinforcement. Happily I got to my mailbox in quick time so damage was not done, but if I hadn't this paperback book would have been permanently bent in a curve in my mailbox. And the package did not say, "Do not bend." Please note. Thank you.

A Book to Behold
Paul Goble has written a wonderful story about a girl and he love for wild horses. His illustrations are spectacular--the best that I have ever seen in a story book--a vibrant show of horses, birds, and nature. This book won The Caldecott Medal. It is book for all ages to read, reread, and treasure. The book ends with a song that is from a dream of Black Elk, and Oglala Sioux: "My horses, prancing they are coming. My horses, neighing they are coming. Prancing, they are coming. All over the universe they come. They will dance; may you behold them. A horse nation, they will dance, May you behold them."

Beautiful Illustrations
This is such a beautiful book! I remember visiting my Aunt as a child and always looking at this book just to admire the amazing art inside. Bold colors and amazing contrast, it made a lasting impression in my mind as a child. I forgot the name of the book so it took me YEARS to find this! So happy to have it in my home for my own kids and it will definitely be turning into a collection!

Gorgeous, bold illustrations
The illustrations in this book are some of my all-time favorites. As a child, this was one of my absolute favorite books. I loved the story but mostly the drawings of the horses, and as an adult I am buying copies to send to friends’ children so that they can hopefully enjoy this book as I did so long ago!

A beautiful story pictures and all!
Purchased for my 2 and 3.5 year old daughters as a bedtime story. They both love horses but I also wanted them to have this book because I LOVED this book as a child. I’m 30 years old and I remembered it from elementary school... it’s that memorable! The pictures are so beautiful! I’m actually planning on purchasing more stories from this author. I’m homeschooling my little ones due to the pandemic and I really love discussing different cultures/views with my kids. This particular story made for a really interesting talk about Native American heritage and how they loved the land by taking care of it/all the living creatures on it too.

I love how this follows the story of a girl and her own path that leads her down a path of self fulfilment, albeit not what is expected by her family and friends.
