I love it!
I don't like wearing wrist watches, so having a smart ring is PERFECT for me! I love how durable it is, it's easy to clean, and the app that comes with it is GREAT! The tracking on this thing is flawless and it uses light sensors to track my vitals, so it doesn't even feel like a smart device, just a regular ring! It also charges very quickly, so if I'm using the bathroom or taking a shower at home, I just pop it on the charger for 10-15 minutes and it's good for a few days! I only do it daily just to establish a good routine, and I have forgotten before and let the battery get low, but still haven't had the power die on me yet! I can see it being an issue for lifting weights since it's coated in stainless still and a little bulky, but otherwise very comfortable for other forms of exercise! I can also see it being a problem because of the red and green light sensors at night, it might be disruptive to light sleepers in a dark room, but I just keep my hands under my blankets or pillows, and I sleep just fine! It doesn't light up all the time, just periodically throughout the night. If the tiny lights at night might bother you, you can probably put a thick sock or a glove over your hand at night to block the light. I'm personally not inconvenienced by it at night, and I like that I can't feel anything when it checks my vitals (heart rate, blood oxygen, temperature, just to name a few). I wound up subscribing to the app anually because I really liked how easy it was to set up and how thorough its analysis was for my overall health. UPDATE: Recently I noticed the ring was draining too fast between charges and I actually needed to charge it everyday! I reached out to customer service via the app, they asked a few questions, and shipped me another one immediately! It was refurbished, not brand new, but it works like new and I would never have known the difference if they didn't tell me! I keep the old one as a backup just in case since they said I don't need to send it back. I basically haven't stopped wearing the Oura ring since I put it on, and I've used it on long walks, swimming (fully submerged in water), and for general daily activities and it works great! I wash it with soap and water when I wash my hands and take it off to give it an.wxtra good wipe down before popping it on the charger or putting it back on!

Best ring out there, pricey, no real customer support, touchy feely software.
Really it's a 4.5 stars from me because the software interface is so wordy & cumbersome to navigate. But this brings some science to your sleep. I'm an insomniac--just a night owl in an early bird world, but this ring really helps me improve my sleep. These are great rings. To me rings are superior to bracelets because I work with my hands & power tools so bracelets are out of the question. These are pricey, but good & offer a ton of colors. They offer a ton of sizes. I get it wet, although I take it off to charge when I bathe/shower. I also remove for dishwashing. It can get wet, but eventually that wears them & at the cost, I'm going to keep it as long as I can. I've gotten the stealth twice & love it's matte finish. It can scratch. You can buy thin tape covers if you're worried about that, or take it off for sanding & scrape potential wear. The sensors seem more sensitive from the Gen 3 to Gen 4--less hand falling asleep data during sleep. I switch which hand it's on in my sleep when I roll over most of the time. I started with Motiv ring (bought by Oura,) so I know how good software could be. The Oura software gets annoying--beginning with the subscription. Not cool, only offered monthly, not one time annual fees, uncool. Then there are the updates: they can stop your ring from uploading or syncing at all, so I suggest you stop new software downloads after 2 or 3 upgrades, and back up your data before any download. Why this is critical--I was getting heart surgery & lost ALL my data & neither I nor my doc was able to access it with my last ring, Gen 3. The AI assistant, like most AI these days, is a means for a company of offering ZERO assistance AND not having to pay anyone who might actually help you. The folks answering emails were helpful before the AI. The AI offers a useless loop. I filed tons of questions & complaints & it never escalated to being responded to by a person. Never helpful. Reddit is your only real customer service with Oura. The gen 4 has improvements to the ring: the batteries are NEVER what they claim, 8 days, no way. 5 & change for me. Although this one is lasting longer than my Gen 3 ever did. The sleep data is more sensitive & accurate with this ring. Some of my family calls it the "no duh ring" as in you wake feeling rough, & the ring tells you why--you barely slept. The software interface is a little silly. I don't want any adjectives. I'd just prefer pure data: numbers like REM, Deep Sleep, HR, HRV, RHR, Temp etc.. It's geared toward anxious folks who need cheerleading & advice; I don't want that. If you need that, you'll love this. The entire section on stress is useless to me & mischaracterizes some situations: like happy endorphins for stress; nope! Very few of us can do much about the stress we face, seeing the report is just annoying. Get rid of it. Or let us get rid of it & keep the features we want from that category. And hiding your temp in the readiness section, which is otherwise totally useless...annoying, Woof! I wish we could customize our categories & presentation so I just got #s, and not their numbers--they give you a score for your sleep, activity, HR, & Readiness. Not universal & metrics aren't available so they're as meaningless as their cheers or suggestions. I wish they listed more work outs. And you used to be able to track your heart rate live while exercising. Not anymore. Why not? It's so basic & people loved it. I want to get to a heart rate & hold it over time, increasingly, but don't get that choice now. Lastly if they made their algorithms public to medical institutions, they could be marketed as a tool for sleep studies & HR for cardiology. Either their algorithms are not up to snuff, or they're insecure.

Amazing data collection… but a very steep price and short life.
Note: This is a long term review, after owning the ring for 10 months. It disappoints me to have to give this a 1 star review, because when the ring works, it works. It’s very convenient, accurate, un-intrusive to wear, and gives you a ton of valuable data, especially related to your cardiovascular system. But, out of the blue about 10 months into my ownership, battery life has cratered, and even when it doesn’t run fully discharged, it has randomly started disconnecting, meaning it’s not harvesting the data that I expect and want it to, and even worse, without full days of data, it won’t build any trends, meaning the limited data it does collect is useless. Reading online it seems I am not the only person experiencing this disappointment. Oura’s customer service is non existent. I have yet to figure out how to get in contact with a human there. All their customer service is routed through “Finn” their AI assistant. After trying everything that “Finn” has recommended numerous times, and getting nowhere, it would be an understatement to say I am frustrated. One of “Finn’s” suggestions is to fully wipe the ring and app from your phone and reinstall it, and if that doesn’t work, the implication from the system is that it will then elevate it to a customer service rep. The issue with that is when you do that, a hard reset and reinstall, the record with “Finn” also seems to go with it, so the system will never engage a human, it comes across almost like it’s intentional firewall in their service. I am coming up on my 1 year membership renewal. I am at the point where I need to decide if I need to make the $72 annual investment again. I would gladly spend that again, but I’m not really looking at a $72 investment. Given my current ring performance, this means buying another ring. Between the membership and a new ring, with taxes, shipping, etc, etc, etc that’s a near $500 investment; and since it only made it 10 months, that really means it’s effectively closer to $600 a year. Battery powered wearables have a limited life; I went into this understanding that, but, I don’t think that after less than a year of usage, going from ~5 days of battery life and collecting non-stop data to less than 24 hours of life with random crashes is in any way acceptable. Apple or Garmin or Google would have mass recalls or replacements on their hands if their wearables behaved like this. Good health is priceless. The ring helped me tremendously in my fitness journey. I have lost over 65 lbs with its help. At this point, however, given I have hit and am maintaining my weight goal, and from my current experience as well as based on what I read from others online, I refuse to spend any more money with Oura, simply because of their poor customer service and poor product life. My final thoughts: the ring makes your fitness journey significantly easier. Data is king when you’re committed to self improvement. For that, I give it 5 stars; but if you buy one, understand that it most likely will not make it to a year without some sort of collection or battery issue. You have to decide for yourself if $500 for 10-ish months of data is a fair price to pay.

Lower stress, better sleep, key insights on health and wellbeing
I’ve owned mine for just over a year and wanted to wait before posting a review. I wasn’t in the market to buy a device like this, but I had some FSA money I needed to spend. Now, I don’t want to go a day without it! I used to prefer only using Fitbit, but this is much more convenient and accurate. The cons: a little bulky as far as a ring is concerned, so it has caused me to form a callous on the finger where I wear it most frequently. On top of the up front cost being significantly higher than my Fitbits, there’s a monthly subscription fee for the app and the ring is useless without it (no screen on the ring means the only way to see the info is via the app). Pros: much more convenient, comfortable, helpful, and insightful than my Fitbits. I have to charge it maybe once a week for an hour or two. There’s no screen to break or clock faces to purchase. No complicated or useless extra features, apps, or poorly routed Bluetooth phone calls. The data measured is presented by the app in a useful and insightful way. Example: when it measured an increase in my basal body temp, it combined that with other info to inform me that my cycle was about to start. Example: It gives a readiness score which tells me how much energy I should plan on having that day and suggestions for increasing my score. While it’s not a continuous or on demand monitor for things like temp and blood oxygen, it does measure and track them which is not something my Fitbit could even do. It is also pretty accurate at detecting when I fall asleep and when I wake up (even if it’s for a snack at 2am), and how well I slept. Best part- I forget I’m wearing it most of the time. The ring just stays on my finger- even when I shower or swim or cook or clean so there’s very little interruption to the info it’s gathering.

A Wellness Game Changer That Helps Me Understand My Body
The Oura Ring 4 has truly been a game changer for me! As someone living with chronic illnesses, being able to better understand my body, track my patterns, and recognize changes has been incredibly valuable. This ring gives me insight into things like sleep, recovery, readiness, activity, and so much more, helping me become more in tune with what my body needs. I was a little hesitant about the price and the monthly subscription at first, but after using it, I can confidently say it’s worth the investment. The amount of information and features it provides makes it feel like a personal wellness tool right on my finger. I love that it helps me notice trends, make better decisions for my health, and understand when I may need to slow down or prioritize rest. If you’re someone who wants to be more connected with your body and your overall wellness, the Oura Ring 4 is definitely worth considering. This has become an essential part of my daily routine, and I couldn’t recommend it more!

Excellent device, poor battery longevity
I purchased a rind 1.5 years ago and have used it every day since. Here is what I love about it: 1) Great insight into your basic health metrics and the app is easy to understand and provides helpful reporting. 2) looks great and is much more comfortable to sleep with than a watch. 3) allows me to wear an analog watch and still track movement and steps, as well as all health functions. 4) great battery life for the fist year, 5) great build quality. I train with weights daily and regularly hike, backpack and even took it for a 3 week through hike of the VT Long Trail with no issues or damage to the ring. Neutral: 1) size is a bit much and can feel a bit big on my finger, I don't wear jewelry so that could be why, 2) I have to take it off to do pull-ups, deadlifts or anything where the ring compresses against the bar. Not just because the ring could get damaged but also because the pressure digs the ring into my finger and it can be painful or get in the way of my grip. 3) charging is a bit slow 4) fitness tracking even with my iphone connected for tracking my location and movement is fairly poor compared to my garmin GPS watch. This is probably to be expected but for those of you thinking about using this as your sole fitness tracking system I would think twice. Milage is consistently off (lower) then using my Garmin Enduro. Negatives: 1) Biggest issue: The battery life slowly dies. When I first got the ring I could go 5-6 days between charges, now at 1.5 years I'm charging it every other day. At $400 for the ring I would expect better battery longevity. 2) I didn't find much use for Symptom Radar. It tended to make me paranoid rather than providing useful data. Not once when it provided an alert did I get sick and it gave me a ton of false positives like when I came home after an overnight flight, had a few too many drinks, ate too much before bed, etc. I eventually turned it off and haven't missed it at all. Overall I still love my Oura ring and it would amazingly with my iPhone. After a year and a half of daily use (it only comes off to charge) the ring still looks great.

Best investment I made in years for my well-being!
MI have only been using the Oura Ring 4 for about four months, and it has completely changed the way I understand my body. As a woman, the cycle tracking alone has been incredibly valuable. Being able to see how different phases of my cycle affect my sleep, recovery, stress levels, energy, and overall readiness has helped me make much better decisions about work, exercise, and self-care. Instead of wondering why I feel different from one week to the next, I finally have data that helps me understand what is happening and adjust accordingly. The sleep tracking has been especially eye-opening. I thought I had a decent understanding of my sleep habits, but Oura showed me patterns I would never have noticed on my own. The stress tracking has also helped me become much more aware of when I need to slow down, recover, or prioritize rest before I burn out. I previously used RingConn, and in my experience Oura is on a completely different level. The insights are more meaningful, the app is more polished, and the overall experience feels much more focused on helping you understand and improve your health rather than simply collecting data. I know some people hesitate because of the subscription, but honestly, I think it is absolutely worth it. The value comes from the quality of the insights and the way the information is presented. It has helped me make tangible changes to my daily habits and overall well-being. Only four months in, and I already recommend Oura to all of my friends. It is one of the few health and wellness purchases that has genuinely exceeded my expectations. If you are looking for a wearable that helps you better understand your sleep, stress, recovery, and cycle health, I cannot recommend the Oura Ring 4 highly enough.

ring malfunctions over time (long term review)
*LONG TERM REVIEW* I bought this ring February 2025 and still wear it religiously. Someone else said the same thing, when the ring works, it works; but it starts to malfunction over time. This past month the ring hasn’t been able to hold a full charge, randomly disconnects, and also malfunctions (ex: the ring can have a full charge before going to bed, when you wake up the ring says it disconnected or no power, only to find out when you put the ring on the charger it had full power the entire night. You’d think for the price you pay there would be more tech support or any trade in opportunities.. wrong. I understand if the ring malfunctions because of constant contact or miscare of the ring, however I don’t think the ring should have this many issues if i’m just wearing it while working at my desk, going on a walk, or sleeping. I don’t even wear it while doing housework or even sport activities (which i should be able to do without it malfunctioning over time.) If you’re going to get the ring i’d highly consider getting the warranty if the warranty includes idemnity for situations like mine as i’ve noticed many others have similar issues. If i was writing the review a couple months into having the ring id give it 5 stars, however the longevity of the ring is questionable. Honestly the entire reason I came back a year later to write this review is because i’m annoyed my ring can’t even track my sleep score consistently. Buy it or look for dupes, but if you do atleast look into the warranty and what it can cover.
