A new everyday kitchen appliance
I have had a 6 qt Instant Pot for years, and it was getting a little small for us since we like to host company frequently. When my crockpot broke, I decided to try the 8 qt Instant Pot Duo Crisp. Here are my findings so far: The pressure cooker function is very simple to use if you have had an Instant Pot in the past. I think the learning curve for an Instant Pot takes awhile at first if you have never owned one before. The only thing I struggle with is that you must press โstartโ after setting the time, and that was not the case on my old Instant Pot. So frequently I set the time and forget to press โstartโ and the timer cancels out. The air fryer is a new appliance for me. I was so excited to try it. So far so good! The lid is bulky and must be stored away somewhere since the appliance also comes with a regular Instant Pot lid. Technically you can store away either lid, but I choose to store the air fryer lid because itโs huge and I donโt love the look of it. The air fryer function is easy to figure out. I have made delicious crispy potatoes with the fryer basket, and otherwise have used the fryer lid to finish recipes made in the pressure cooker. It takes them to the next level to have a crispy or melted top, like broiling, but without the threat of fast burning if you turn away. I used this so far for shredded pork, and pizza pasta with cheese on top. The lid for the air fryer must be placed on the protective mat that comes with the set, because it gets very hot. This requires some extra counter space while using the air fryer function. I donโt enjoy cleaning the outside of the Instant Pot - there is no easy way to get food and grime out from the area on which the lid locks. I thought they would have improved that part of the design. I suppose I need to try harder to find a special tool to clean that spot. Overall I love the Duo Crisp. The larger pot has made my life easier, and keeping it on the kitchen counter means I use it more frequently than the one I put away.

I guess I like kitchen gadgets now...
I was always pretty anti-kitchen gadgets. The InstantPot seemed like just another thing that did stuff I could already do on my stove or oven. Boy, was I wrong. I honestly am in disbelief how much I love using this thing. It is so versatile that I use it more than anything else in my kitchen, except maybe the sink. The reasons why? Well, for starters itโs super easy to clean. Instead of making a mess with multiple pans and pots and lids with food stuff splattering everywhere, the InstantPot is one thing thatโs fully contained. When the timer ends I take out the food, clean the pot, and wipe down the lid and little โgutterโ and thatโs it. Two, itโs so FAST! Now, granted some things will feel like they take the same or similar amount of time when pressure cooking because the machine has to build pressure. BUT, the difference is that I can set this and LEAVE! When itโs ready it beeps and I can choose to keep the food warm or have it stop cooking when the timer is done. What really sold me on finally purchasing this is the air fryer attachment. Iโve been wanting an air fryer so this was much cheaper than buying everything separately. I will say that while I do love the air fryer itโs probably not the best on the market. When using a two-tiered basket, whatever is in the top portion *will* be more cooked than the bottom. This is a problem I will try to fix by simply removing the top portion when itโs cooked and letting the bottom cook longer until itโs done. Not ideal, but for delicious air fried food ans the convenience of having these capabilities from one machine at this price, Iโll make do. I recommend purchasing an InstantPot cookbook to accompany this. It will help acquaint you to how this machine can be used, even if the cookbook is more oriented towards one of the models without the air fryer. What do I use this for? So far Iโve made vegan chana masala (yum!), vegan banana bread (yum!), air fried Brussels sprouts (yum!), truffle fries (you get the idea). Iโve also used this to steam food to make dog food for my pup with allergies. One of my favorite things to use this for is dry goods!! I will dump a whole bag of dry beans or quinoa or whatever in the pot, add spices, water, set it, and itโs done to perfection so quickly! Iโll then can everything and freeze it so I have beans and quinoa on hand all the time whenever I need them for a meal! Itโs the best! Not to mention the pressure cooker seems to really INFUSE whatever youโre cooking with the spices you choose. The beans Iโve made with this Iโve eaten plain they were so so tasty! I live with roommates but this has been the best purchase ever. Iโm lucky to have the room to store it, but itโs also great because they can cook on the stove or in the oven if they want, and I have everything I need right in this InstantPot so no one has to wait on anyone to clear out before they can do their own thing. Things I wish it did differently: - I wish the display showed seconds. Minor inconvenience but the display in general makes it feel cheap. - I wish the display showed what setting it was on and what action it was currently doing. For example, a small icon for โpressure cookingโ so you can remember that you chose the correct setting. Or a little icon that showed it was building pressure so you donโt think you didnโt hit โstartโ or something before waking away. Also, something that showed the current temperature inside instead of what you set it to so you know how things are cooking or heating up/cooling down. - A persistant beep every minute or so when food is finished cooking.

My new go-to kitchen appliance
Initial impression: just seeing the box it was packaged in was overwhelming. I wondered what I had gotten myself into by ordering something that would clearly be taking up a lot of real estate in my kitchen. The box sat unopened for a few days. I was second guessing the purchase. Some background: I have owned a rice cooker, a crock pot, and have browsed several times for a multi cooker, but never bought one as it never seemed absolutely necessary. I have also never worked with any kind of pressure cooker, so this added to my apprehension. I finally decided to open the box and just go for it. I soon learned that the cooker was large but that the lids and accessories were part of the reason as to why the box was so giant to begin with. Phew. Fast forward a few weeks and I am happy to announce that I have made numerous successful meals. I have yet to explore all of the features. But as a pressure cooker and slow cooker, itโs won me over. I am looking forward to using the air fryer. Overall, itโs been simple to keep clean, to cook with, and itโs definitely won itโs own spot on my kitchen counter. I was weary based on some of the negative reviews. So I thoroughly read (and re-read) through the instruction manuals and safety requirements. I wouldnโt say that it was all common sense, but it was straightforward and specific. So I would encourage anyone looking into investing or using one of these pots to do the same. And then to cook and reheat their food in one of these as this will more than likely become a go-to kitchen appliance.

instant pot.
So far it is wonderful. BUT a few more accessories would be nice. Purchased when ninja foodi quit working. It is a little learning curve on cooking time vrs the ninja but I love it. The downside is the airfry lid is heavy and doesn't have a 1 pot steam crisp function. But it is workable. Buy two pot inserts and steam in one than finish off in other pot on airfry. Still working that out. The pressure funcion is great. No hassle and totally safe. Makes perfect large hard boiled eggs. 4 minutes on pressure and 5 minutes cool down under natural steam release than quick release.than immediate drop into ice water and peal. No green eggs and ham here. Just tender eggs . Did not have a cooking guide which was the most annoying thing. So I would recommend this product.

Cooker I Actually Love Using
I received this instapot/air fryer 8 qt. It is massive but I needed something this size. I used it the first day I got it. I cooked 1 pot spaghetti in it. Three spaghetti turned out great. I forgot to season the meat, because I was so excited about getting it in. It cut my cut time in half. The only thing was coming the hamburger meat with the airfryer. It cooked the meat but it browned it to much. Next time I will try cooking it on another setting. I haven't found anything that I don't like about it yet. The size is great for my size family, it cools great for the first time using it. I will try other settings to see how it works with the dehydrator, the pressure cooker, and the other settings. I will update on those and how i like them.

Great appliance
After using a while I can say that I do love this appliance, I wanted one for a long time but didn't have space, I bought this one for it's air fryer capabilities. It airfrys OK, not as good as a standard air fryer but it does the job. I have not used the slow cooker function so I can't speak to that. I would not recommend purchasing this model for the air fryer honestly, just get a regular instant pot...I also love that I bought the bigger size even though it is massive! I like to prep a lot at once.

My second Instant Pot, well worth the cost
I am a fan of the Instant Pot, I have used my 6qt Instant pot a few times a week for a couple years with great results. I like the fact that the older Instant Pot replaced my crock pot and pressure cooker and was thinking of updating my Instant Pot to an 8 qt model. When I decided I wanted to try an air fryer I knew that the Instant Pot Duo Crisp was the answer. This version of Instant Pot provides me all of the features I like on my older Instant Pot with the addition of so many more cooking techniques. Now I have the ability to cook pretty much any meal in one fairly easy to clean pot. That is my one of my only complaints, the clean up of the inner air fryer pot is difficult at time due to all of indentations on the bottom of the liner, food sticks in the corners and is hard to get perfectly clean. I did buy the optional clear lid which I think is a must if you do a bunch of crock pot slow cooking and for steaming. The test was my first batch of French fries, my son loves French fries and told me hey Dad those fries were really good ... nice and crispy! This version is a nice investment and I look forward to years of use.
