How to take the chain off

To take the chain off you simply take off as if its a key ring.

Have received this but when I shake the box it makes a noise like it’s broken, it’s a gift so don’t want to open it, does it rattle when shaken?

It could be that the cap has come off in the box but without unpacking it theres. O way of knowing. Could you unpick the cellophane to check without it looking obvious ?
