These Amazon Basics Smart Plugs have officially earned a permanent spot in my home — and honestly, I should’ve bought them sooner. They’re handy, convenient, and so simple to use that even my pre‑coffee brain can operate them without starting a small household crisis. Setup took about a minute. Alexa recognized them instantly, and from that moment on, I felt like I had unlocked a new level of adulthood. Scheduling appliances is as easy as tapping a button, and the app control means I can turn things on or off without leaving the comfort of my couch. That’s innovation. But here’s where these plugs truly shine: They are absolutely essential for programming my non‑programmable tea kettle. That kettle has one job — boil water — and yet it refuses to wake up on its own. Enter this smart plug. Now it kicks on automatically every morning like it’s been trained by a drill sergeant. I walk into the kitchen and boom: hot water waiting for me like I’m living in a luxury hotel. I choose these Amazons Smart Plugs particularly because they only require a the Alexa app to set-up and maintain, where GHome and other brands require two separate apps to do the same. These smart plugs offer Sunset or Sunrise control which can be combined with a time-of-day for your turn-off time. Ie: candle lights. Some brands only offer time-of-day on and off. Using Sunset as the start time, eliminates the need to keep adjusting the start times throughout the year as daylight gets longer or shorter. I used the Alexa voice assistant to glide through the setup process which was supper easy. So far they are working flawlessly, using Wi-Fi to control them! I highly recommend them! 👍

Clumsy setup, took multiple tries then had to manually input my wifi network info in. But once they each connected, the process was perfect, working by voice command with my echo devices and Alexa app. My previous smart plugs made a clicking sound when they turned on and off and these are completely silent. Great value for 4 plugs. In case anyone else is having setup issues, when my network didn't show up in the list I choose Manual>WAN>then input the name and password, then it all fell into place.

These were easy to set up and work just as well as the expensive ones. Will purchase these again if I need more smart plugs!

These plugs are a godsend! Our housekeeper messed with a light working thru a “smart plug” I tried mightily to restore it on the old smart plug and its associated app. No deal. I wanted to get some more smart plugs any way, so I bought these Amazon ones that claimed to be easy to set up. They were. I put in the plug in preparation to connect to Alexa, and a signal appeared on my iPad that a new device was recognized. I just had to name it in the Alexa app, and bingo. The price was great, and the light worked straightaway. Should get a 10!

This is my review of Amazon’s Smart Plugs (2 pack) I have been using “smart” devices for a long time, and still remember all the hoops you had to jump through to get them to work properly. These plugs, only work with Alexa devices, and are as close to plug-and-play as it gets. When I ordered them, I had the option to set them up before they were delivered. I did, and when I received them and plugged them in, they were ready to go. One of the plugs, I use with a lamp that I turn on/off with voice commands, and the other, I use with a routine I wrote that turns on lights 1/2 hour before sundown, and turns them off 1/2 hour after sunrise. They work with a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, and although you might have a newer wireless router, most allow use at this setting. In addition, they are controlled though the Alexa app, and no other software or hubs are required. After several months, they are working without any problems. Good reliable plugs, that are easy set up. I plan on picking up a few more.

Needed a smart plug to connect to Alexa. I personally feel the regular Amazon smart plug is over priced when selling at the $25 normal price so opted for this Amazon Basics as a first time buyer. Well the first one I received was totally dead. No lights on at all when plugged in and could not even get the manual switch on the side to work. Completed the return process and the second one arrived and connected very easily. It seems to be fully compatable with Alexa. It is working well so far and connected and has stayed connected for over a week. Added the plug to a routine and works just as well as the more expensive plug with one slight annoyance. You can see it across the room when that basics plug is active and on with a huge green LED lit up on the front of it. I prefer the less in your face small blue light of the standard Amazon plug. I guess if the outlet was out of site it wouldn't be an issue but it is in full view where I needed to plug it in.

This thing is awesome. I've found a few uses so far like turning the Christmas lights on and off but it's also great for managing lights in the bedroom at night. I plug all our light emitting electronics into it and the have an automatic shut down at night so the lights don't disrupt our sleep. Highly recommend for an easier sleep without having to remember everything.
