The Waiter is the essential travel item.
This is a review of the Victorinox Army Knife - The Waiter. What is the most essential item you need when travelling? For me it is a corkscrew. There is nothing worse than being on the 18 hour night sleeper train from Bucharest to Istanbul with a wine bottle and a cork that can't be budged. I know that there are fancy tricks for removing a cork without a corkscrew but they don't seem to work for me. I can remember once, in desperation, having to struggle to push the cork INTO the bottle - and of course this made the wine spurt up all over me. Oh dear! Not the best of ideas and also a waste of wine. So a corkscrew is needed and the Swiss Army knife - the Waiter - is just the job. Like all Victorinox Swiss Army knives it is beautifully engineered and is not going to fall apart or bend when opening that bottle of Romanian red wine. It is also very light and although weight isn't a problem on trains it is a consideration when flying. Apart from the corkscrew the Waiter has a bottle opener and also a small sharp blade for cutting the bottle foil - or some cheese. Cheers!

For the wife
Got this for the wife when she went on a few days walking holiday with a friend. Without me around to do all those annoying little tasks for he like opening a bottle, she needed something small to take along to cover the need. She thought I was being a bit silly in getting it for her, but accepted it and took it along. As expect for a Victorinox knife quality was good. Not as many functions as I like, but sufficient for need and part of what you do is get the knife you need for the job so spot on. Once her holiday was over one of the first things she said was how useful this had been. She had used it for something most days, although it seemed mainly to open bottles from discussion, That said, she always takes it with her now on long walks and has even talked about getting a model with more options herself. So it was a good price, met the need it was purchased for, and is still in regular use 2 years later. If it has all the functions you need, can't fault it,

A good knife, what you see is what you get.
Perfect quality you won't be digging graves with this knife but for any slicing jobs it will do the job.(as you would expect with a pocket knife) slicing fruits, ropes card ect it will do the job. If this knife were to break it would be because of misuse. It's a very good small light weight pocket knife very sharp has a small hole to place a needle in near the corkscrew. The corkscrew can also be very useful for un-tying knots and works. Also the can/bottle opener works and so does the screw driver tip. All in all you get a good tool that will last you for years an is very light. I would teccomened you get the tinker as it has a lot more for a tiny extra £'s more.

Victorinox Waiter Army Knife.
I like this make and one other. This was a little gift, for my brother in law. He loves it! My sister and he, travel a lot and enjoy camping as well. This knife is a great tool for basic travel needs. I have one myself. It is quite old but still good. I used mine for hiking. They are made to last. I had a large one with lots of accessories. Plus an old version of this one. My son claimed the larger one, eventually. For cross country bike rides. He says that it is handy for lots of reasons. That had all sorts of accessories. More suiting his bike needs. The tools stay quite sharp. On this particular one. The bottle opener, does work. The cork screw does, as well. Yes, they still do corks. Plus bottle tops. I have used the bottle opener, to lever open the pull tops on sardines. You know those rings that lie flat onto the pull top tins. Great gadget for levering them up.! Plus, l have also up a sausage, by stabbing the cork screw into it. Well? Whatever rocks your boat. It is sturdy enough to take it. However It is not suitable for young people. It could cause harm in the wrong hands. This one pops into your pocket or onto a keyring. Which will scratch it eventually. So be aware. I think these army knives are great. Plus long lasting. So they are value for money.

perfect for my dad.
I'd recommend this to anyone who ever has guests, or goes to parties. Have you ever brought a bottle of wine to a party and realised you have no corkscrew? Party ruined. But then you pull out this little thing, and suddenly, you're the most popular guy in the room. I got this for my dad this Christmas because he lost his old Victorinox penknife. Ironically, the old one was too big, so he kept losing it when he took it out of his pocket if it was digging into his leg. This one has three tools, so it's slimlined and causes none of that trouble. Does anyone ever actually wear out a Victorinox product? I'm pretty sure every single time anyone has bought or been bought a second Vic penknife, it's because the first one got lost.
