I’m excited to use these Hand2mind Sensory Number Trays in my classroom. I have a student with vision challenges, so I especially like that these are large tiles with a tactile design that students can explore by touch. The tiles are double-sided, with dots and numbers on one side and a recessed surface with raised tactile bumps forming the number on the other. They can also be connected like puzzle pieces, which adds even more possibilities for activities. The set includes a small booklet with ideas for how to use them as well. I can see these being a very versatile learning tool, especially at such a reasonable price point. Students could match dice, fingers, blocks, or other manipulatives to the corresponding number. They could trace the tactile numbers, use Wikki Stix or play dough to form them, and practice number recognition in a variety of hands-on ways. There really are so many possibilities for using these in the classroom and I’m sure my students will have fun using them!
