It's a 5 star light, but short on included accessories so check carefully
First off, this is a really nice 100 watt bicolor light, it's very bright and has easy to use controls plus a number of different ways to power it. The build quality is great and very sturdy. This makes the whole thing very portable and usable in most any situation, it's also quite light which makes it possible to use on a handheld rig as well. You can power it by USB-C, V-mount battery or an AC power brick. The light also has full remote control from SmallRig's app which has always worked well for me. In the box is a mount for a lightstand, a reflector, a silicone dome diffuser and a high quality long USB-C cable. However I do have to ding SmallRig on a couple of things that almost caused me to knock off a star. None of these are deal-breakers but might matter to you. The missing accessories will have to be bought separately, increasing the end cost of using the light if you don't happen to have them already. First thing NO CASE, all my other SmallRig lights have included a nice carrying case but not this one! Several other 100W lights I got for a similar price also included a case. So you're on your own finding something to carry this light in or use the shipping box. Second NO POWER BRICK again all my SmallRig lights and all the ones from other companies come with some kind of power brick. While the Smallrig light can be powered by any 100+ watt USB charger or a battery, it's kind of annoying that you have to come up with that yourself. The light has a 12 volt locking connecter you can use for this but the brick is sold separately. So when you get this light, you have to come up with a USB-C charger, battery or V-mount battery to use it. Not the best out-of-box experience. Be aware your average phone/tablet charger probably doesn't put out anywhere near the 100w required to run this light. You will need get a more heavy duty charger brick that does 100 watts or more. Third, no bowens adapter included, the mount on the light is sort of a mini-bowens design. I can't get TOO upset with SmallRig about this because some of my other lights have similar mounts. SmallRig does have an adapter (sold separately). Some of my other similar lights included the adapter. Finally, the light says it is DMX controllable through the USB-C port but I have been unable to find any documentation of how this works. Usually DMX lights at least include some kind of reference on what DMX channels do what, pretty essential for using DMX. SmallRig needs to get documentation out on this ASAP. In any case, I definitely recommend this light. It's high quality and very portable. Just be aware you may have to spend some more money on a power source (USB-C power brick or batteries) to use it.

Great light with exceptions
Why did you pick this product vs others?: This tiny light is awesome, I find myself using this a lot due to how easy it is to carry around and set up. Only negative I have found is that the light mount this comes with is not very good. Things to note: 1) The normal 100 watt battery Small Rig sells is barely enough to power this light as it can draw up to 130-140 watts. I suggest getting small rigs upgraded V mount battery that can provide 140 watts. 2) This has a custom tiny mount that is not a standard Bowens mount. If you want to use Bowens mount small rig does sell an adapter.

Good light
This is a super high quality light but it's not for every purpose. It's got several features meant for using it with an attached battery plate rather than the focus being plugged into the wall. Because of the battery clip area, the controls are on the side instead of on the back (where they typically are on a light), meaning the controls can be awkward to access if you want the light facing a certain way. For example, I wanted to use this as a fill light with the included diffuser attached. The way I had it set up, the controls faced the wall, which meant I had to move it before and after each use to turn it on/off, adjust the brightness, temperature, etc. But overall the light is great quality and the fact that it can use USB C means one less proprietary charger and brick to carry around. It is an expensive light compared to some others, and if you prefer the controls to be on the back and don't have a need for the battery attachment functionality, you might be better off with another light. If you do like the features on this light, you can't go wrong.

Finally! A Compact V-Mount Light
I've been waiting for a light like this for a while now. It's a light weight, ultra-compact 100w Bi-Color light that has a direct V-Mount battery supply. Any one of those elements are easily obtained in other lights - but there isn't much that has all of them. Normally I'd have to take a smaller light and use a USB-C cable to connect to a modern V-Mount for battery power. I then have the logistics of mounting both the light and the battery wherever the light is needed. It's clunky and awkward. This light resolves that issue beautifully. I also like that it doesn't have an attached mount to it. You have mounting holes (and an included mount that attaches to those holes) - but you aren't hard-locked into the default mount. This means you can easily attach it to just about any accessory. And the compact size and remote control app allow you to get it in some tight spaces. There are a few things I wish it had for total perfection: A way to power on the device remotely. I still need to manually power on the device to use it. A standby mode would be awesome for when I get it placed in a super awkward spot. A case of some sort. I'm not sure why it doesn't include one. ALL my other SmallRig lights have them. Its small enought I can keep it in a small bag - but still. AC Adapter not included. I have this for the V-Mount option, but it'd still be nice if it were included. Overall, this hits a specific need and does it beautifully.

Love it
This is a very powerful little light. It does not come with a V mount battery, but if you have one, it offers you a truly portable option. It also comes with a really long usb-c cable to power the light with AC power. I do prefer the fact that they went with a V mount battery over the traditional sony style battery. The V mount gives me a lot more runtime than any np-f battery that i could get. The controls are very similar to any other video light and helps you transition into this light much faster. The power options, size and light output makes this light one of my new favorite on location video lights to use. The color is very accurate and ensures that you have one less thing to worry about in post.

Fantastic light with v-mount for battery!
This is a very nice and well designed smaller LED continuous video light with variable color temp (soft white/yellow to bright white/blueish) and adjustable output percentage. It is a nice size, smaller than others I have, and it carries a nice 100w power output. Looks great in black and works really well! V mount battery or other connections by wire (battery not included or built in), ac adapter cord included. Easily 5 stars!

Bright Performance, but Hidden Proprietary Accessory Costs MAY Dim the Appeal
This is honestly a great light, especially for its size and relative portability. It’s just a bit more costly than it appears and a lot of that info is hard to discipher at first glance. First: there are, at time of writing, unreleased accessories that seem essential to get the most out of this. Mainly, there’s a “coming soon” battery handle which would likely give this light a lot more functionality. As it is, I got the “standard version” of this light, which really refers to the kit of accessories you’re getting, as you get the same light itself with the other “mobile version.” There’s trade-offs no matter which you get, and you’ll likely find that you need to get SmallRig specific accessories to actually get the slot out of this light. With both, you get a mini-reflector which is necessary, but only this version (stand version) includes a silicone diffuser which is arguably necessary for getting that soft, diffuse light that I’m usually looking for (you just pull it over the reflector). You could use special paper for this, but I like having the diffuser in hand. The standard version also comes with a ISB-C cable which…I’m glad but it isn’t a reason to get it since I have dozens of those. The other key difference here is that the standard version comes with a a “light stand adapter” (though, to be honest, it’s just ok plastic-quality), and since I have a ton of light stands and tripods I like to use, this is a helpful accessory. BUT—only the mobile version comes with a grip handle (instead of the light stand adapter) which…would be a nice thing to have. What I don’t get is why the grip handle isn’t just a mini tripod that can also adjust. In other words: why can’t they combine the light stand adapter and grip handle into one? I can’t knock them too much for this since most kits only include one or the other, but the problem is that there are so many proprietary accessories for this light that it starts to become questionable whether this is really the best option for me. What really irks me is that it doesn’t include batteries. Only the mobile version includes the proprietary NP-F970 battery plate, but you’ll need to supply your own batteries (that’s the most cost-effective battery option). But they really want you to use the V-Mount batteries they make (expensive) so I’d have to get one of those…and at this point I’m not convinced it’s worth it yet. Especially when I see that a power handle is announced for this which is…potentially different than the mobile handle? It’s all very confusing at this point. The one thing I did need to get was a SmallRig specific bowens mount adapter (they list on this page the item number that works with this light). Otherwise NONE of your Bowens softboxes will work and you would need to get all the proprietary mini-bowens softboxes that SmallRig makes. I’m used to having to get proprietary accessories, and I have a LOT of small rig stuff, but this light really demands a lot of confusing research to see if it’s worth it for you. If you’re using it plugged in and just getting the Bowens adapter like I did, it’s actually not too bad, but still, not sure if it’s a value. What I do LOVE about this is that it is just so much smaller and lighter and portable than most studio lights I have. Since I’m an amateur mobile filmmaker/photographer, this works for me in my limited space. But the results can be quite professional with the specs you’re getting here. In terms of performance, the light itself is fantastic. You’re getting the white-light temperature spectrum that you need here to light up a subject, from 2700K (warm) to 6500K (cool) and a fantastic CRI of 97+ and a 98+ TLCI. If you don’t know what this means, it means you’re gonna have great, accurate color representation when filming. For my digital content creation, which involves both photography and videography, this level of brightness and color accuracy makes a noticeable difference. So, this is great light with hidden costs, one that needs accessories to get the full potential use out of it, but might not need that much depending on what your needs are and what you have. Hope this helps!
