Sennheiser HD 599 - Open Headphones, Special Edition, Black, Wired

Why did you pick this product vs others?: Was looking to replace my Audio Technica m20x which was aging, and starting to become worn down. Mostly a choice between these and the m50x, and decided to go with a different brand. Looking like I made the correct choice on the 599s. Lightweight, removable cord, nice and comfortable over-ear cups. First 'major brand' type of headphones I've owned and highly believe they're worth picking up. Functionality: The bass is great, the first game I had opened and tried with the 599s' was Left 4 Dead 2 on the Chainsaw Massacre mutation. The idling of the chainsaw was a deeper hum, and when actually using it- the sound was a tad muddy but hardly noticeable to begin with.

This is just an HD599 but cheaper, that's simply the best way to put it. A full price HD599 may not be worth it because it has relatively mediocre audio for $200, especially when the HD 560S exists, but for $130? Absolutely worth it. These headphones have a very solid but not overbearing clamp force, so as you can imagine they're very comfortable and stable on the head. With an impedence of just 50 ohms, you should easily be able to plug it in to just about anything and get great audio. They aren't especially large, so you could probably get a decently small case for them and take them wherever you want. Bass is slightly muffled but thumpy, mids are beautifully clear, and treble is clear but not piercing to listen to. Audio profile is warm and fun, rather than cold and analytical.

My friend has been raving about his open-ear Sennheisers for years, so when I decided to get back into playing music I decided to take the plunge. These are great -- comfortable even for me, a man with a very large head and big ears. The sound quality is great and you can still hear your surroundings. Obviously you wouldn't want to use these in a noisy area, and you also wouldn't want to use them in a very quiet space around other people. It's a pricey buy but worth the splurge.

Have been trying to replace my $45 AKG K66 open back I have used for15 years in my studio. Have tried a few headphones, much more expensive but always returned them because they were heavier and “closed” sounding, not enjoyable for long hours of audio mixing. Was curious about this “open back” Sennheiser HD 599 and after reading lots of positive feedback I gave it a try during Amazon days. I had high expectations, and for the price I must say I’m happy I purchased it, but it’s a bit heavier than my old AKG, a bit warmer on my ears, not as open sounding and not as neutral for mixing songs. So I use both because the AKG lacks bass and the Sennheiser is loaded. For casual listening is perfect, but for mixing my songs I’m gonna stick with my old reliable.

When i first got them i was confused about the sound, mostly was neutral and drowned, so i did some research and had an EQ change it's audio, from there on out i got to actually use their whole great audio quality. Build wise, doesn't feel cheap, feels durable ngl, just of course don't be careless with them, ease of the cable and taking it in or out was alright, just confused at the start, actually good thing they have a rotation thing to make the cable stay really firm and plugged to the headphones, another good thing since i stay in long session listening to music is that i don't get lightheaded since they're open back, airflow from there is good. Going back to the audio, most noticeable thing about it is the soundstage, really great, literally hearing where all the instruments and surroundings are coming from, it's nice like really really nice, that's mostly what i can say about them, been using them for more than a month now and they're good for the price i bought them for.

I live in an apartment, and got these so I could play my Yamaha digital piano without generating complaints from neighbors. I enjoy the aural experience that headphones can provide, but in the past have found most uncomfortable to wear for any length of time, due to the pressure and heat buildup. These are open-back with cushy ear cups and a very adjustable headband, which largely eliminates discomfort and sweaty ears. I was skeptical of the skinny little cable but the sound quality is immense. You can also unplug the cable from the phones themselves, and can switch out mini 1/8 and standard 1/4 plugs, which are both included. Between the comfort level of these and the surprising dimensions of the virtual sound stage they create, it's like I'm not even wearing headphones. Plus with the open backs, I can hear the dog bark or the phone ring. So while I appreciate getting lost in the music, I like that I'm still very connected to my outer environment in an immediate, unmuffled way.

Love these headphones. Very comfortable to wear for long periods of time, sound quality is amazing, and comes with two cables with different terminations. Cable quality is fine - I ended up upgrading for fun. It would be nice to have a case come with it but considering they go on sale for ~$100 it's great value.

¿Que decir de estos cascos que me tiene enamorado desde hace años? Pues solamente maravillas. Compre hace unos 8 años el modelo anterior de los HD599 en color crema y hasta hoy funcionan a las mil maravillas, hasta podría decir que ''han madurado'' y se escuchan mejor que sonaban aunque imagino que sea algo totalmente subjetivo. En su día los compré junto a una tarjeta de sonido externa SoundBlaster Recon 3D para conectar a una XBox 360 y el sonido que conseguía en los juegos era espectacular, un acierto en el combo. Para la música los usaba conectados directamente a un iPod y en un PC y siempre me sorprendian con el sonido claro y en el que puedo escuchar claramente los matices de las músicas. No los recomiendo para amantes de los bajos tipo Beats, estos Sennheiser son más balanceados. Hace 2 años adquirí unos Sennheiser Momentum M2-AEBT Ivory para mis viajes y aunque también estoy encantado con ellos por su ''practicidad'' de ser inalambricos y la reducción de ruido, que cuando subes a un avión y te toca en el asiento del ala cerca de los reactores es increible como anula los sonidos constantes, de verdad es la forma que más he apreciado la eficacia de la reducción de ruido, con sonidos constantes, aun asi prefiero el sonido y la comodidad de los HD599, soy un poco-bastante cabezón, uso gafas y los Momentum me aprietan un poco, en una cabeza normal no creo que den problema. Ayer he visto la promoción de este modelo nuevo de Sennheiser HD599 ES a unos módicos 100 euros y no he dudado en comprarlos de nuevo, viajo bastante y vivo entre 2 casas y asi tengo unos en cada una de ellas. En cuanto al primer contacto los he notado un poco más robustos y más cómodos que el modelo anterior, aparte del cabezón tengo unas buenas orejas y las cubren perfectamente y podría decir que son algo más ligeros también. Ayer estube más de 4 horas con ellos puestos y ni te enteras que los llevas encima. Los he probado durante toda la tarde de ayer y hoy por la mañana y aunque aun les falta ''madurar'' unos días, el sonido continua fiel a los anteriores. Los estoy probando conectados directamente a un portatil con los codecs de audio de Windows Sonic para auriculares, cuando escucho música, y el Dolby Atmos, cuando juego juegos y veo películas y el sonido que estan sacando es muy muy bueno, probad a escuchar el tema ''Madness'' de Muse con los ojos cerrados... Espectacular!!! Hoy en dia tengo una tarjeta de sonido externa SoundBlaster G5 que uso a modo de DAC y me resulta versatil para juegos y música aunque aun no los he probado conectados en la tarjeta. Estoy seguro de que estos cascos conectados a un DAC tipo FiiO dejará a más de uno con la boca abierta. ¿Recomiendo su compra? Creo que estamos ante uno de los mejores cascos relación calidad-precio del mercado acercándose a cascos que estaán con precios muy superiores, hasta de la misma marca como pueden ser los Sennheiser 660S que estan a casi 4 veces más el valor de estos, con esta oferta. Asi que si aun teniais alguna duda... Corred Insensatos!!!

My first open back headphones and they are super comfortable and the sound is just amazing. The only downside is the stock cable which is not the greatest but you can buy a replacement for not much.

I really don’t understand the few negative reviews on these headphones. I’ve always had Sennheisers and these are the first open back, which take a little getting used to. But if I want complete silence I’ll grab my noise canceling cans. The SE599’s are light and perfectly comfortable. Sound is great, unlike other Sennheisers these definitely have more mid bass which is fine. Easy to pull a little out of the mix of it’s not your thing. The mids and highs are not harsh at all and in all a very balanced headphone. Hard to beat for the price.

Daha önce düz modelini kullanmıştım, kablosuz kulaklık alınca elden çıkarmıştım ancak bu ve sound blaster g6'nın birlikte kullanım tadını hiçbir şeyde bulamayınca tekrar aldım. Gerçekten en iyi odyofiliye yakın tecrübemi bu ikili ile sağlıyorum. İkiliyi masaüstü bilgisayarımda normalde fps oyunlarinda boş kalan zamanlarımda ise müzik dinleyerek kullanıyorum. Bir çok sanal pozisyonel ses veren programı kullandım ancak en başarılı işi scout mode ile g6 ve bu kulaklık veriyor. Müzik konusunda da midler ve tizler çok net ve geniş bir aralıkta iletiliyor. Çok bass'lı şarkılar sevmem ve dinlemem, bu kulaklik da zaten o yönüyle meşhur değil. Belki de o yüzden en çok bunu beğeniyorum bilmiyorum. Ancak benim için 5 yıldız bu kulaklık

Muy buena opción, tienen un sonido cálido, muy realista, con buena separación instrumental. Para alguien nuevo en el audio hifi es de lo mejor por el precio (abajo de 2,000 pesos mexicanos en promoción). Son cómodos y no tan pesados, por lo mismo son todos hechos de plástico, así que no se sienten con una construcción premium
