Slinky Malinki Paperback – International Edition, July 15, 2014

My 4 year old and I love this book! It rhymes in a non cheesy way and the story is so cute! I don’t mind reading it over and over again :)

I have been working with kids for over 40 yrs and always give Lynley Dodds books out as gifts . They are so fun and the rhyming is a great learning tool for little ones . They always love to “read “ along guessing the next sentence. Slinky Malinki is my favorite .it tells the tale of a cat that sneaks out at night and pilfers from the neighborhood, bringing home all sorts of goodies.

This is a fantastic book which is why I thought paying $19.86 (for the paperback veesion) was acceptable but indeed a total splurge. My children got this book when they were little from their Granny and Ireland and it left an impression on me all these years later. After receiving it with small dents and folds, I thought I would check to see if there was a better price online. I was surprised that when I turned the book over, the price, $5.95, was printed on the back. My only silver lining is that it is currently only available as a new paperback from a different seller for $23!

We have a cat and this is a great cat tale for our kids (3 and 1). Lynley Dodd's rhyming ans storytelling are very entertaining and Slinky Malinki is a beloved character. We bought this after first receiving "Slinky Malinki Open the Door" as a gift (another recommended title. It is amazing how hard it is to come across a children's book that has the perfect balance between good artwork and good writing. There are so many poorly written stories out there. My husband and I have no qualms reading this story over and over again to our kids.

What a fun read! Such catchy rhyming words and very cute illustrations!

Love this story about this troublesome cat running around the neighborhood knicking things and so do my kids.

Your children and you will love the personalities of these animals in this series of books! They were our daughter’s favorites and now she and I buy them for her friend’s children and my friend’s grandchildren. After 20 years, we can still recite many of them. Pure enjoyment!

Another classic from Lynley Dodd. It’s so fun to read; it’s well-written with great vocabulary for kids to learn. I love reading it to my son and he gets so excited each time (almost every day!).

I have to admit I am a fan of Lynley Dodd. All of her books were favourites with both our children when they were younger and made perfect night time stories and then helped with them learning to read through repetition on certain phrases. They are really easy to read with charming simple rolling rhymes which are super easy to make fun for your child. It seems they are no longer in print as I have been trying to buy all of them so my soon to be first grandchild will gain the same benefit that both my daughters did. I believe that if you read to your children from the very first days you will start to instill in them a true love for reading and a considerably more colourful imagination. Slinky Malinky is a tale of skulduggery from an unexpected source, I just know this is going to be a firm favourite! Another great book for bedtime!
