I have not lost many fish since using this in tank. Fish seem healthier and not doing water change just quite as often. The only thing is the price it is quite expensive. probably cheaper versions but not tried any. I have cut pad into 3 strips and use in tank seems to be adaquate for 120ltr tank.still floating at top of tank I still use my normal filters too.

I was a tropical fish shop owner for over 35 years and this product was invaluable and saved many of my customers fish. I always have one in my fish cupboard as a spare for emergencies. If your fish are showing signs of a need for a tank clean and you have not got the time. Place one of these pads into the tank either in your filter or near the return flow to absorb and neutralize the bad water.

I keep axolotls and my father keeps fish tanks. I was suggested to use Polyfilter by another keeper who also keeps a marine shop, as I had the odd problem with ammonia going up to 0.25ppm. He originally gave me Arcadia Polyfilter, and suggested I cut strips off and place it directly into the tank (I have PF filters which are much flatter and thinner than the Polyfilter is). I bought this hoping it would be as good as the Arcadia brand and I haven't been disappointed - it's cheaper, the same size and just as effective. I use it to ensure my parameters don't go up any higher than they have to, but it's also good for removing medicines and toxic chemicals from the water - it'll even tell you what it's removed by changing colour, with a guide to the colour and what it means on the back of the packet. Have no fear it will crash your cycle by removing ammonia for your bacteria to eat - it does no such thing. I have used it in my tanks for months and I have never had a cycle crash. It's good for tense moments - when you're not sure but something doesn't seem right in your tank - or to keep around in case your tank needs medicating. The only downside is that, as the last reviewer said, it gets used up quickly. My axolotls produce a lot of waste and, with water changes at 50% a week, it tends to last around a month before it goes black (i.e it can't absorb any more). It does say you can rinse it out, but I haven't ever managed this so I just change it for new. Overall, I count this as a good product to have and I haven't ever stopped using it since it was suggested but it is expensive and does get used up quickly (a piece this size tends to last around 3 months for me, if my father doesn't pinch any for his tanks).

Genius product, had an ammonia spike in tank, added this and within minutes could see if was filtering this out (turns yellow), after a few hours it started to turn tan indicating filtering organic waste. I attached mine above my sponge filters with a clothes peg (be careful peg doesn't rust) to enable maximum water flow over the filter media as this works best. Also added some pieces to my canister filters to help them out a bit also and as a fail safe to any blips in ammonia or nitrite levels. Highly recommended, if only to keep in your cupboard for emergencies ie filter fail or adding too many fish at once to tank (I am guilty of this as get carried away at fish shop). Will be buying more now.

arrived quickly , i bought this to remove any harmful organics in the tank water as i was recommended from a youtube video and it works !

Been using this for a while on my 125 litre tropical tank. Put in my fluval 206 filter and water is crystal clear. I cut 3 pieces from this one and use each for a month so good value. Would recommend.

This is good,and tells you by colour what is being removed by filter which is handy.I originally bought this to see if it would polish the tank water,it cleared the water to a certain extent and water parameters have been just right for over 6 weeks.

Fantastic product used few times over years for water clarity but this time it’s save my corals from heavy metal from Rust leaking into Tank
