WOW! Really pleased with these almonds!!
I read the 1 star review and wasn't sure I wanted to take the risk, but am really glad now that I did! These are wonderful almonds--so flavorful...just like the ones my family used to get at Christmas time in the 1950's.The package in the picture looks exactly like the package the almonds arrived in. And yes, occasionally you will get a very strong almond. We got the occasional one back in the 1950's also. I just read the other day that those are not rotten or spoiled...just a nut that grew with more "essential almond oil" than normal. The regular almonds I was buying are much harder. These are a little chewier. I roasted a few of these at 350 degrees for 10 minutes in the oven and oh, my gosh--are they ever GOOD!Recent research on the Internet reveals that on the West Coast of the USA, almonds are harvested around September or October, depending upon the weather. So if there is also a harvest time in Spain where these almonds come from, then the longer out past the harvest time that you wait before ordering, the older the almonds will be.For what it is worth, I ordered the almonds at the end of September, and they are delicious. For those of us who have to eat the Paleo Diet way for life, due to health issues, getting really flavorful and high quality almonds is a really big deal, as they are a big source if non-dairy milk, sprouted, and also ground to make flour for a sort of "bread." I will be back for more--these are the real deal! Very, very pleased.

They have a sweet taste to them to
These are the real deal, not pasteurized. The american almond has a hard crunch to them. These have a slight mealy taste initially but are moister in the middle. They have a sweet taste to them to, never had that in an american almond. If you want to avoid propylene oxide, definitely check these out. edit: I originally gave this 4 stars but I keep getting almonds that I believe are rancid. I'm not sure what rancid tastes like but it tastes like the almond is soaked in nutrasweet and then it changes to something very bitter and disgusting like vanilla extract, except these almonds taste much worse. I had a few almonds that were off but I am now coming across almonds that fit my description of completely inedible. These almonds are expensive, I would have expected a better quality especially when the label says they are good for another year. I don't know if I will buy these again.

Finally, a true bulk package at a worthy price
Only a few cupfuls in to a giant 12 lb bag, almost exclusively for making my own homemade almond milk and so far every batch has been delicious. Sure, occasionally there's going to be one of those weird tasting almonds, but I've yet to buy a bag of raw almonds by any brand where that isn't the case. The heftier up front cost well worth paying $2 or $3 less per pound compared to smaller bags.

Fresh, great tasting and soak/sprout very well, perfect for almond milk and snacking etc.
We purchased a large bag of these mainly to make almond milk for smoothies and to replace regular lactose milk types, so far they have been working out well! We always soak and sprout them, but they do taste pretty good and smooth with a nice flavor just regular as a snack too. I read all of the info and reviews about raw/sprouting etc and it seems these are popular and legit as far as all that goes, though we are beginners to this area FTL seems to be reputable and well recommended. There were a decent amount of broken/cracked almonds, I suppose this can't be avoided but it did seem a little more than expected - I'd say maybe 15-20% overall. Again totally ok to snack on and taste yummy even without soaking so we just eat the cracked and broken ones this way, but it was a little disappointing - could be how these large bags all come though regardless of brandPrice is definitely not cheap but compared to other raw bags of this size it was a on the lower side, and if you are in the market for these you know you know they just cost more. Worth it though for us at least to have lactose free, healthy fresh almond milk :)Will definitely buy these again!

Awesome....PURE
Did you know that "Unpasteurized" Almonds are illegal if grown in the USA? Yep. And you lose 99% of the nutritional value. This is the loophole here. These are grown in Italy. Then packaged in California. Bingo...you get all the nutrients. Excellent product. You can taste the nutrition. We will see how long it takes for these to be banned?

Excellent- truly unpasteurized
I love these almonds they're real unpasteurized almonds so they soak and Sprout well. Wonderful for making almond milk and other Delights. Just because an almond package says raw does not mean it is. please make sure that it is truly unpasteurized. For your own health. They are now getting away with saying RAW on the package when it has been flash pasteurized.

but every handful contains at least one terrible tasting almond
I don't know if anyone else has experienced this, but every handful contains at least one terrible tasting almond, so tannin filled and bitter with this pungent taste of what I can only describe as almond extract taste , but in the worst way imaginable. You literally can't get it out of your mouth fast enough, And the stinging sensation and taste linger for a while afterwards. I looked up what this could be in my "on food and cooking " book, and it refers this particular bitter almond as a variety that we don't consume here in the U.S., but is used in conjunction with regular almonds when making marzipan in other countries and other uses. However, this almond variety contains a toxins that if just a few of them are consumed by a child at one time it can be fatal.... which is a concern for me since I have a toddler and , now I jave 4 pounds of almonds that was for almond flour and milk, but I have no desire to make such things not knowing just how many of these almonds are in the bag. Like I said, just about every handful I have had when munching on them contained one and i got so weary of wondering if each one was going to send me running to spit it out I stopped eating them all together. I initially bought a one pound bag and then used it all for flour, so I re upped a few days later with a 4# bag. I plan on contacting the company to get some answers on the situation, but I will not be purchasing again.
