I got these firebricks to use in the rebuilding of my forge. They are lightweight, sturdy (for firebricks), and excellently sized for constructing a simple propane forge. They contain the heat well and are a fantastic choice for the price. I highly recommend them, especially for the listed price.

I got these to use two of them wrapped in seran wrap and then covered with fabric. They provide excellent weights for holding down small wood shapes when building miniatures or for any other paper weight type item that might be needed. The bricks are very sandy feeling and shed sand from the box when first opening them up. Wrapping in plastic wrap controls the sand issue and the fabric wrap hand stitched to surround the brick and make it attractive and much easier to handle. Two of the other bricks were added to an old aluminum pan filled with water and kept in the base of our commercial stove. The saturated bricks help regulate humidity and even cooking temps in the oven. Nice quality bricks.

These were better packaged than most items I've gotten thru Amazon, so even when the outside of the package was a bit damaged, the bricks inside were solid and undamaged. They are the exact dimensions as listed. However, I cannot verify their ability to withstand 2300 F, as I'm still collecting enough materials to build my forge. BUT, $8 per brick (so $48 for the set) is VERY expensive, and I would not have purchased these if I had not gotten them on vine.(Vine is a program through Amazon where customers may order demo products in exchange for their honest reviews. The "value" of each product is added as income, and we are responsible for all "income tax," so these products are not "FREE", but they do cost us--in that sense. So, I write all of my reviews based on my personal knowledge, their quality, value, and how they might compare to either other products I own or, as is often the case with products on Amazon, the 'original products' other sellers are selling as knock-offs.)

I have been wanting to build a DIY pizza and bread oven for some time however I have been unable to find fire bricks for sale in my area, so I was exceptionally pleased to find them here on Amazon. All the fire bricks arrived intact, no broken or chipped edges (although do expect dust) and in good condition. They are the size stated on the web page and appear to be well made. Although these fire bricks are not food safe, they are the bricks you use to insulate a DIY pizza oven before putting in the food safe fire bricks, which are much thinner. I'll be ordering more of these.As for my reviews, I am someone who is selective and particular and have no qualms whatsoever leaving an honest review regardless if it is favorable, critical or somewhere in between. These fire bricks are the kind you would use in a kiln or foundry. They will handle high heat but they are rather soft, light and fragile. Not the sort of bricks for a coal or wood forge that would need to stand up to direct contact with tooling. That is not a bad thing, just use them for the right application for best results. This set of bricks was well packaged and the came almost without damage. Just a tiny piece of one corner was chipped. About 1/4 inch in size. Not bad when you realize that UPS in Arkansas has the gorillas from the old Sampsonite commercials handling packages! LOL, I'm not kidding, EVERY box they deliver is crushed. My poor delivery guy is always embarrassed with how bad stuff looks when he hands it over. So for these blocks to arrive in such good condition, the packaging MUST be good. I did a test fire with used motor oil I will be using for a foundry capable of melting iron and, the brick held up well with only light glassing of the surface.

Full disclosure, I received this item as part of Amazon's Vine Program in exchange for an honest review, good or bad. I am setting up a welding station in my 100 year old wood house and am being very careful to take steps not to burn my house down. I have a new welding table that is full of holes for clamping the metal down. Under the table I wanted to put something that could stop the sparks and molten slag before it falls on to the wood floor below. Then it occurred to me to use fire bricks. I made a layer and it works perfectly. As long as I don't drop anything on them, it should work great.I have helped replace the fire bricks in the kilns at work. These bricks look identical and are the same size. Fire bricks are pretty brittle and need to be handled with care. These came well packed, with not a single chip or crack on any of them. They are dusty, so much so than the dust was leaking outside the Amazon box. Wear a dust mask when handling these as I assume the dust is not healthy.

I was expecting a heavy box of bricks, boy was I surprised at how light these are!!They do have quite a bit of dust coming off of them, so don’t open it in the house.
