It took me a while of using this case, since I’m a little finicky about new phones but I’m really liking it! It feels nice and smooth, yet grippy in the hand. It’s protected my phone from the occasional drop on a few occasions. It’s super easy to pop on and off to clean and overall a good price for what it offers.

After reading the 1 star reviews my only conclusion is that those buyers must have received a very difference phone case than I. The one I ordered is the iPhone 16 Pro black Gripmunk MagSafe case. The case feels like it is a high durometer (hard) rubber. It is flexible while also being stiff. It is not a hard plastic case that will crack or transfer loads to the phone. The surfaces are all precise. The raised edges seem just high enough to protect the face and camera lenses without obstructing your fingers when using the screen. The buttons are precise and low force, and there is a precise cutout for the new camera slider button. MagSafe charging works perfectly. I have an apple MagSafe charger and it holds and charges the phone just as if there was no case at all. As far as grip, the side edges of the case have very fine pebbling which provides a very positive feel. The back of the case has a flat finish which provides good grip while still allowing the case to slide easily in and out of pockets. All in all this is an excellent case.

I saw a review of this case on the New York Times Wirecutter page and decided to give it a try for my new iPhone 16. I have always had Otterbox cases on my iPhones but I really don't like the design of the ones for the iPhone 16, plus they are really expensive. I rolled the dice on this Gripmunk case and after having it for a few weeks, I love it. It looks good, it protects my phone well, and the sides are definitely "grippier." I realize it is hard to make case that allows for use of the new Camera Button while also protecting the phone. The Otterbox cases were just open but this one has a thin strip to connect the sides and still offer some protection. I hope that part holds up over time, but so far it seems really good. The case snapped on with no issues and for the price, I really don't think it can be beat. It is certainly not thick and heavy, but I didn't want a thick and heavy case. I wanted something to protect my phone, give it some bump/drop/scratch resistance, and not be too slippery. This checks all the boxes and I am so glad I purchased this one. Kudos to Wirecutter for recommending it. They were spot on with their review and if I need an iPhone case in the future, I will happily look for another Gripmunk case.

I have used this case on three different iPhones and have been very happy with it. The newest is the iPhone 16 Pro. The case fits flawlessly, and I love the slightly raised edges around the screen. It's slim and not bulky at all, yet still very protective. I also love the textured sides; it isn't slippery like so many cases are. Highly recommend!

Nice case. Feels good in the hand but I don’t know about their “extra strong magnets baked in” comment. The holding strength seems to be about on par with any other generic MagSafe case.

So worth it for under $20. Feels like an expensive case. I had been using a bulky case that was too big for my hands and it had zero grip. This case is easy to hold and keeps your phone slim. There are grooves on the left side underneath the buttons which is great if you hold your phone in your right hand.

Best Case - Highly Recommend I have purchased many iPhone cases. This Smartish case is definitely the best. The fit and button alignment is perfect. It has a great feel and is easily removed from the pocket. I was using the high dollar Apple Case and this is far superior. Just buy it!

It fits perfectly and feels good to hold one handed. I've several cases in this style over the years. The material of this case seems durable (time will tell, I guess), and I believe the design of it will offer adequate screen, camera and drop protection. The edges protecting the screen and camera lenses are sufficient. It’s not bulky, which I appreciate, and it feels pretty sturdy overall. The material has a nice feel to it and provides a good grip. I got this to replace a case that was too slippery on the back, and I have no worries about that with this one.

Gripmunk - Black Tie Affair for iPhone 16 - In short - Perfect! After some obsessive research seeking to find a case which met my equally obsessive criteria I eventually arrived at Smartish! The Gripmunk appeared to tick all the boxes. Those same boxes remained ticked when it was delivered. Great, really nice thought through design, which I've not seen in a case before. The undulating finger grips feel good and provide a feel like no other case. The texture of the sides is spot on for a secure feel and extends just enough at the edges to add to the feeling of security. (Others often leave a small smooth 'margin'! Why!) Also the texture extends around the corners top and bottom - again just very well thought through. With a screen protector there is still a small rim of case to protect the screen. All in all the case looks great and feels great (and secure) in the hand). The camera guard is perfectly executed. The buttons feel nice too. The ports at the bottom of the case are rounded - another thoughtful touch. The icing on the cake though and also in my tick list is the look of the case. It is easily one of the best looking cases with a minimal design. Minimal sounds easy but look at other cases and compare. This is done with the same class as all the other subtle but useful design elements. There is branding on the case but it is subtle and doesn't spoil the minimal aesthetic. I guess Smartish don't need to shout to get our attention. Instead they just make a good products. Smartish are an American company and I think are not a particularly well known brand in the UK. It's a shame because my experience leads me to say my Black Tie Affair is maybe one of the best cases I've owned for any phone! The cost in the UK is a bit higher than in The USA but the company ethos is to keep their products affordable. I am more than happy to have paid the Amazon price and not have to worry about import duties etc. I'm sure the Gripmunk will meet my needs but anyone requiring something more rugged might wish to take a look at the Gripzilla. Also a small point, there is no plastic in the packaging. I appreciate great design and Smartish have taken care to produce a case which sets itself apart from the competition. For something so well designed I think it's good value for money. I am happy to recommend the Gripmunk to friends and family. I hope some of the above information is of use to anyone considering this case. My first Black Tie Affair!!! and not my last... Well done Smartish...

Great case with good protection features. I really like the grip on the exterior. It’s not too much grip that it feels unnatural or rugged. Just enough so that my phone never slides around and never falls out of my hand. It’s also pretty minimalist.

Perfect case for my iPhone 16!

A simple, unpretentious case. Grippy where it needs it, comfortable all-around in the hand, and protects the phone well. Great deal for a straightforward case.
