One Of The Best
I use a lot of hard drives in my work usually the 3.5" mechanical drives, but more recently I buy more and more NVME ssd's and an enclosure as they are quicker and more and less likely to fail, this Ugreen enclosure is one of the best I have used, this enclosure gives me consistent read and write speeds of over 3000mbps (using the Blackmagic disk speed test). One thing I will say is, don't skimp on the NVME ssd you buy, the wd black 850x is brilliant and probably my favourite although I'm using Lexar 2tb 800pro NVME's in this enclosure and its been great. The only slight caveats are as in other reviews, the drive does get warm and the fan is a little noisy, but that does not bother me too much, the speeds are what matter!

fast but noisy
fast but noisy compared to the mac mini i use it with. Read/writes slightly above 3000 mb/s. Noise kicks in even if the drive doesn't get used after the drive gets warm.

Fast
Recommend for Gen4 NVMe drives on Mac. Works better than expected, fan is a little loud.

Very noisy
This is good for speed but the fan clicks on automatically and is too noisy when in use. Furthermore I don’t think the fan helps as the unit gets extremely hot.

Fan noise spoils what could have been a good product
As others have said on here (wish I had read the reviews first, so only myself to blame). The fan noise is just awful, it spins up pretty much all the time and is so loud. I work in a quite office and it started to become embarrassing as it would activate for what seemed like no apparent reason as the Mac mini it was attached to had been put into sleep mode. Then yesterday I got the 'you haven't ejected the disk correctly' message (I hadn't requested the disk to be ejected), when I checked I'd lost some folders so that was the last straw, it's going back tomorrow, shame.

Fast and reliable transfers
Very fast and easy to use,to get 40 gb transfer you need a thunderbolt 4 port. it's still fast on usb3.2.well made a easy transportable.👍

UGREEN M.2 NVMe SSD 40Gbps NVMe PWM Fan
Performance it is similar to the Akasis enclosure that suppose to be a TB3 and this claims to be a pure TB4. Tested with a Crucial P3 Plus SSD (advertised as 5GB/s). But the real problem is the noise on the fan. Not only it is loud - I though other users were picky, but worst is that once activated, it does NOT decrease even it holds is PWM although the temp of the nVME falls to normal use, unless you unplug and plug it again.I tried also with firmware upgrade. It is a pity, since I have other Ugreen products and I am really happy with them.I didn't return it, since I use it for a one off (transfer, backups) instead of having it constantly connected. But for 90bpg does not deserve it, since for a bit more I could have bought another Akasis (but at that time the increase was higher).

great enclosure let down by noisy fan
I've bough this to expand the storage on my new Mac Mini M4 (base model) and it does that very nicely indeed with 2TB Lexar drive installed, 3000MB/s on Blackmagic Design Disk Speed Utility no problem, multiple streams of video going in Resolve and as many audio tracks I can muster in Logic without any glitch, but dear lord this thing is noisy. I've installed the drive correctly with the heat transfer pad in the right place but the teeny little fan has to spin so fast to get any air moving it's quite distracting. Going to have to try a better heatsink on the drive itself and leave the top off the enclosure, failing that it's going into an acoustically damped box slung under my desk to take the edge off it.
