Govee 9.8ft COB LED Strip Light Pro, RGBICW Light with Warm White, WiFi

These LED strips look amazing. There are absolutely no individual LEDs that can be seen, even up close. I was looking to replace some standard LED strips that I used to backlight some artwork. I hated the fact that as you entered the room you could see the individual LEDs from the side of the frame, not anymore. These lights are absolutely stunning. They're defiantly not cheap, I purchased these on sale and they were still about double what I paid for the original LED strips, however, the look is worth it. My single and only complaint is these light strips are very bright. I wish I could dim them even more, but set at 1% they are pretty bright. They almost look like a neon light but warmer in color. These were very easy to install, I removed my old strips and used the provided attached tape to wrap them around my frames. I was able to pair these directly with SmartThings through the Matter protocol, one thing that I could not find in the documentation is these are Matter over WiFi and not Matter/Thread lights. Still, with Matter I was able to join them to my smart home and natively control them in SmartThings, which I what I was looking for. Lights that are WiFi only usually require their own app or sometimes they'll work with Google Home or Alexa and I have to create a bridge from SmartThings to be able to control them. There are some pretty interesting/fun effects that can be created in the Govee app and I played around with a few of them just to see what they could do, but I was really just interested in adding some backlight to my framed artwork to make them stand out. I highly recommend these if you're looking for light strips that will be exposed and you don't want to be able to see the individual LED segments.

WOW. First off I will start by saying that I have always been a huge fan of all of Govee products. I have been buying all types of systems from them from automotive to interior LED strips and smart bulbs for almost 10 years now and have never been disappointed but these blew me away. Super Bright ! In my 'man cave' I have this glass desk that I have had for about 12 years now and it has treated me very well. A few years after I bought it, I was introduced to Govee products and picked up a couple strings and they adhered quite well to the desk for over 6 years. Sadly, a few months ago those trusty lights failed due to (?carelessness?/ bad positioning? long story short, I accidentally ripped one of the strings off six inches from the start of its run leaving half my lights dark.) Having purchased several automotive lighting kits since then I returned to my trusty source and found a new tech had been released, "COB" and an LED density that made the old strip look like it had been created in the 90's. If you're still with me and have watched the video, I am still in the rebuilding process (replacing this complicated lighting path involves unplugging EVERYTHING and moving the desk away from the wall.) I used a portion of the old desk lights as accent lighting for what I lovingly refer to as the 'underskirt'. Plenty more cable management to be done and looking back I should have also used the adhesive backing alongside the Velcro straps. Still several more hours of tidying but I could not wait to share my delight in this product. I am confident that are you are using these lights on a flat, level, clean surface; you will be fine mounting these with just the included adhesive backing. Well done GOVEE! Love it! Easy to use, very functional, remote app to set millions of different scenes, last set lasted 7 years so I have no doubt these will be just as durable. One of my favorite things to do when I have guests and they are amazed by these lights, " Alexa, Red Alert ! " and the color 'scene' changes to a pulsing red and we hear the classic easily recognizable tone. TLDR: Excellent! Super bright. Extremely dense LED. Seems 1000x more durable than last gen, Trimmable , GOVEE app and Matter compatible. (I know, I have DECADES to go on cable management but... ) Worth every penny (I bought two and don't regret one single cent) PS-the picture was not planned , I literally removed it from the desk and coiled it as I went, then threw it on the floor. I really didn't have high hopes for the brightness of these lights because the Govee monitor lights I purchased, while nice, weren't terribly bright, hence the need for additional behind-desk lighting. I had also previously purchased a Govee led light strip, and ended up returning it because the leds just weren't punchy enough. The price seemed pretty steep at $99, but since they were down to about $70 on Prime Day (and they often seem to go on sale or offer coupons to bring this down to around this price), I decided to give them a try, along with the Govee RGBIC neon lights (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CQQ85ZK3?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1) to see which one would suit my needs best. The unboxing experience of these lights was pretty incredible. I was shocked at how premium they made the packaging on this (but it would be nice if maybe they could offer the product at a slightly lower cost if they didn't spend so much on the box???!), and first impressions of the pliability/flexibility and feel of the light strip itself were super favorable. In fact, I would say that I was pretty blown away by how great the housing felt. I unboxed the RGBIC neon lights as well, and while also nice, they were different. I plugged in both sets and it was immediately clear which set was brighter - these won by a fairly large margin, so I immediately put the neon lights aside. I ran through all of the light settings, but already essentially knew I'd be using the warmer colors. I'd hoped that orange was possible, but as with most of these led lights, it seems like the lights want to cycle right past orange and will either only display red or a cooler yellow. There are shades that are sort of approaching orange, but still aren't quite there. All the other light settings work really well, although the app is kind of annoying and without a lot of clear instructions. I'd originally hoped that I could mount this with 3M Command picture hangers, but when that failed miserably, I had to give in and use the included adhesive. My intention was to use these on the back edge of my desk to illuminate the wall behind it, but I ended up actually wrapping the lights behind and to each side of the desk because the strip was so long. It turned out to be incredibly fortunate that the strip was long enough to do this because now some of the darker areas of my office have a gorgeous glow, including the area underneath the desk. The photo I uploaded doesn't show it that accurately, but the COB light strip is probably twice as bright as the lights illuminating the wall behind my monitor. The one issue I have is that the adhesive on the end of the strip farthest away from the power source isn't very strong, and keeps coming unglued from my desk. It sticks up awkwardly, and sort of ruins the look of everything a bit. I'm also not sure what will happen if/when I need to replace my desktop, as I've been considering buying a larger one, and it doesn't seem like the adhesive is replaceable (or really very moveable). Despite it's pretty hefty price tag, I'm already looking for other places in my house to mount more strips because they just offer so much ambient light and have such a clean look. Best Govee product yet!

Installed these in my boat after removing the old florescent lights, fairly straight forward installation, easy to cut to length. I enjoy the app operation, allows me to operate the lights from my phone as long as there is internet for the lights. These have a huge amount of color options and pre programed light functions. Have been in operation for 5 months now and have had no issues with them.

Okay so these strip lights I'm using on my L-shaped desk and I absolutely love them. Coming from a non diffused RGB strip previously these are a massive upgrade. Govee did a fantastic job with making sure you don't see the individual LEDs and it truly looks magnificent like one continues line of energy flowing around my desk! These were also very easy to install and they stick pretty well to my desk. The only complaint I have with the adhesive is by the powered end were the cable connects on my unit the end of the strip has a hard time staying stuck to my desk. This is an easy fix though with a under desk adhesive anker and a zip tie. Just use the zip tie to pull the end of the wire that connects to the strip towards the desk and pin it there. This completely fixes the issue. One other complaint I have is nowhere in the instructions or in videos did they tell you that it COMES with an extra end piece. I spent 15 mins trying to pry the end cap from the cut piece of RGB strip so I could reuse it on the new end. After struggling and finally getting it off I decided to look in the box one more time because there is no way this is the solution. Low and behold in one of the boxes inside the packaging where the power brick is there is a small separate compartment inside that box with an extra end piece. So save yourself the effort and just use the provided end piece! The light settings are vast. With the Govee app on your phone you can pretty much customize these to do whatever you want. I also love I can control them through my phone so I can get in bed then turn them off when I'm ready to go to sleep. I also have had zero problems with them flickering or not functioning as designed overall its a very well made high quality product. Now are they worth it? I mean yea they are freaking awesome and I would buy them again if mine went out. They aren't cheap but I feel I got what I paid for. So I hope this helped you in making a purchasing decision. I moved into a new place with wood stairs. There’s a landing step that is invisible at night - it just looks like the floor below the step. Of course, one can only determine a stair to be invisible at night after one misses said stair, falling, twisting ankle and foot, lying on floor cursing and crying for help from the husband at 11pm in the dark. I used painters tape for a couple of weeks. Again, not so helpful at night but there was some distinction. I knew I needed to light this step up to avoid future slips on the invisible step. I love Govee products. I have a Govee metal tall skinny lamp thing which is where I learned about this gummy, straight, light tube that they make. I really did not want the light strips that were cheaper w the separate little lights on them since this was going under a stair and you could see the underside of the stair clearly from our lower living room whilst sitting on the couch. This product was SUPER easy to install. I love that you can cut it to size (though if you need exact I would go with the Govee light strips w the little lights there’s more cut areas closer together). I love that I already have the Govee app and it connected relatively easily (turning things on/off, using airplane mode and unplugging will get you connected). My 2 gripes about Govee… 1. Please figure out how to make strips that you can cut and connect - I want to be able to configure a corner or different shape besides just a straight line. I also want to be able to connect multiple lines to one adapter (I had a cheap one that could do this but I was afraid it would burn my house down). I paid $$$ for a single step and would like to have been able to use the rest of my strip for another step but instead it’s just useless. 2. I wish it dimmed a little more - the 1% is really bright in the dark. This strip is VERY bright. Anyways, love my step and it’s safe to take the painters tape off and have it be a normal step.

I have a fair number of Govee lights in my personal psychedelic speakeasy I call the Area 51 Lounge & Billiard Room. The COBB Pro light is as bright at 3% as my rope and strip lights are at full power. The effects have far more resolution than my Govee rope lights. It has all the same effects as the standard rope and strip lights, so it still coordinates perfectly with the other lights with an Auto-Run short cut. The adhesive made it easy to install on a smooth clean surface. Couldn’t be happier.

I bought the 10 ft COB strip a few months ago. Loved it. So bright you could use just the strip to light up a room. Packed with LEDs, it looks more like neon. So I thought I'd buy a 16 ft strip for the bedroom. Whenever I get new lights, I always test them. On/off, colors, scenes, animations. I run the full gamut. Then I test Alexa, same test only via Alexa commands. It passed with flying colors. So I put them up on my bedroom wall. Looks amazing, like I have a neon light tube on my wall. And I run a second test. Not so good this time. The commands had a lot of latency - I tell Alexa to change the color, and 5 or 6 seconds later it would change it IF it would change it at all. Multiple commands...NOTHING. I was a little upset that I had already put the lights in place when it started doing this. I tried: 1) unplugging and plugging back in 2) tapping the controller on the strip 3) deleting the strip altogether and starting over 4) removing it from Alexa and then running discovery again 5) re-entering the wifi, and it told me it couldn't connect, over and over and over again. 6) tried three different electrical outlets and a power strip It would show connected to bluetooth, but not wifi. Then it would show connected to both, but wouldn't work at all even with Alexa. It will not geofence. But after a few minutes it will come back and work for a few minutes. I include all my lights in all my routines. Some routines would work, most would not. So I had it! I took it back and ordered another one, came overnight. Very convenient. Return process was cake, just took it to Whole Foods. 20 minutes later I see the return. Open the second box, ran all my tests. Passed with flying colors. Put it up and it worked perfectly...for a half hour, then IT DID THE SAME FREAKING THING. Unresponsive with Alexa. Hit and miss altogether. One guy in the Govee facebook group said it could be a signal issue. The strip is 25 ft away from my router and I have zero issues with other devices in the bedroom that have never had a problem.. I've had none of these issues with my 10 ft strip. It works perfectly. Geofences, works well with Alexa. Sooo this one's going back! Debating on whether I'll try one more time. Meh...I don't think so. I do love Govee, but I may never buy another light strip again.

These Govee strip lights are magnificent. I was totally amazed by the quality this product, in every way. First off the light strips come in very premium packaging. Think Beats Headphones but even nicer. Hardened cardboard round boxes with a subtle smooth texture coating applied to them. Everything inside with slotted decorative little boxes and even two very nice silicone straps holding the light strip spooled, instead of cheap twist or zip ties. Gorgeous presentation. Once unboxed, the physical material quality becomes immediately apparent. The adhesive backing is some sort of high quality gel glue that an be re-positioned for several minutes on unpainted surfaces. The diffusing cover is a soft and smooth, flexible, high quality silicone feeling material, not cheap plastic. All cables are smooth and rounded tangle-free, no cheap thin wires. You get a two-piece power setup that permits a lot of wire-routing customization (the AC adapter and control box are separate pieces with their own cables, that then plug together.) Even the little in-line control box is designed to look good, with a clear plastic glass-look covering. Legitimate 3M adhesive backing is used on both the control box and some little included wiring tie down brackets. As for the actual performance of the LEDs, I must say these are simply the finest quality-for-money on the market today. They look stunning, are bright enough to be effective work lighting when turned to plain white and produce a tremendous gradient of colors. They are also sharp and responsive. You can customize them endlessly using the Govee app as well. Usually I dislike proprietary apps but the Govee one is neither buggy nor obtuse to operate. And the included inline control box allows basic functionality without finding your cell phone, which to me is an absolute must and I love to see that. Having seen the capabilities of these modern Govee LED strips, I can say without hyperbole that Govee is the best (maybe only) direct competitor to the OG (and frankly outrageously overpriced) Phillips Hue products. Nothing I've seen from Phillips looks better or brighter than these. Seriously these modern "RGBIC" strips from Govee are NOT a cheap alternative. They are a full-peer competitor at a better value for money price. Lastly I want to point out that Govee's customer service is stellar. Prior to purchasing these lights, I had contacted them about a possible replacement remote controller for a 3 years old set of more basic LED strip lights. While the product in question was no longer produced, no longer in warranty and frankly pretty obsolete, they still offered me a lovely discount on my next purchase with them. They had no obligation to do so and I really appreciated that. Good company, good people to do business with. If you're looking for best in class modern LEDs, I strongly recommend you give these a try. I assume there may be some technical limitation on overall length, as the longest size currently available is 16 ft. I hope some day soon they are offered in full 60 or 100 ft lengths can seamlessly cover an entire room's perimeter. If and when they do, I'll be replacing/upgrading all of the older LED strip lights in my house completely with them.

This is an absolutely incredible Strip light. I am shocked with how bright this can go. I knew what I was getting into here with the brightness and how impressive it is with Govee putting this many LEDs in each section, but this is incredible in person. The first photo I included is only 50% brightness. Never had any strip lights perform like this under my loft bed. Fades in and out, smooth lighting changes, and the colours are beautiful. The accuracy of the colours aren’t drastically different from the shade like some are saying, personally they are pretty close to the difficult colours I pick like ambers or browns. If anything only slightly off. I wanted these to be able to get sufficient light for studying times or business/project time hours. The Warm white tone (first photo 50% brightness and second photo which is 100% brightness) colours to cool white (second photo, and is 100% here) is perfect for that.

I installed these under my top kitchen cabinets, and it really elevated the space. The strip is really durable and I was just impressed with how far the quality has come, especially since I used to be in the LED industry 13 years ago.

Brighter and more functionally versatile than most strips. Any color you can imagine. Has that wow factor! Good quality. Good value for money, especially when on sale. UPDATE: few months later and the strip no longer works. Bummer it was pretty nice, and expensive...
