Brilliant product, excellent service
As far as tin openers go (and I must confess that this not a field of specialisation) this really is a top quality product which since purchase has been quite superb. I particularly like the fact that there are no sharp edges on either the lids removed, nor the edge of the tin. BTW unlike the three previous openers I've owned over the years, the Rosle opens the tins with ease.Regarding the seller, I must say that shipping, packaging and communication were excellent. All in all, a great product and great service.

Excellent Can Opener
The best Can Opener I’ve used in terms of quality and opening of cans. It’s a lot different to other openers as to how it works as the Can Opener sits on top of the can rather than the side. Love how the lids come off without any jagged edge. The can edge to is very smooth. You can fit the lid back on and achieve a good seal.

Maybe some people didn't read the instructions...
Lovely quality gadget, works brilliantly with no effort and I like the pincers to remove the lid. I think maybe some have tried to use this as a normal tin opener as it looks like one - but this is to be used flat, not on the side.

very good quality
i bought this because it said it was made in germany and they always make really good quality goods i wasnt disappointed its got a really nice quality weight to it and it feels very sturdy i was surprised when i first used it it really does remove the lid from the can without leaving any sharp edges at all and its got a built in pliers so you can grab the can lid and pull it off i also see from another reviewer who said it has made in china writen on it well i cant see that

It's slightly weird
Does a good job of getting the lid off, but it doesn't function to the normal Rosle standard: it feels like it's not cutting and you have to go round more than a full circle, then have to go backwards a bit to get the lid clear. It turns the cut-off lid into a pseudo-lid thing you can fit back on to keep food fresh in the tin in the fridge, but that's not as useful as the thing it doesn't do, which is enable you to go most of the way round then press the lid down on the tuna you need to drain. I like it, as I do with all Rosle equipment, but unlike everything else I've got from Rosle I wouldn't buy this one again.

Just awful!
I have a lot of Rosle kitchen utensils and love the quality. I thought this expensive can opener would be an excellent purchase but I couldn’t have been more wrong. I just can’t get it to work properly and have been left very frustrated at not being able to open tins when needed for my recipes. Do yourself a favour and buyer a cheaper can opener that just works! If I could have given this zero stars I would.

No Sharp edges left behind.
This is pricy, but I've bought it twice. Lent it to my mum and hadn't the heart to ask for it back. It leaves a blind edge so you can use the cans for other stuff afterwards. Great for paint brushes, storing nails etc. I'd buy it again and again. I'm not sure I'll need to though, both are still going great after 4 or 5 years since I first bought.

Opens cans, but with style!
What can I say? You get what you pay for. Rösle always provide top quality and innovation with their products. Absolutely swear by them

No sharp edges.
This opener is a luxury. The cutting blade never contacts the contents of the can so it doesn't get dirty.Using the built in pliers makes it easier to remove the lid. Oddly, it leaves no sharp edges on either the bodyof the can or the lid. After opening, the lid actually fits snugly back onto the can for storage of unusedcontents. While you're turning the handle, it almost feels like it's not working, but it is. This is one of thosequality of life investments, yes it's costly, but it reduces your daily struggles. We love it.

Outstanding, once one learns to use it properly
There seems to be some confusion among users of this product. Even the company refers to it as "side-cutting", when it appears to me that it actually opens up the top seam of the can. The removed lid will then fit neatly and snugly back; good for several days in the refrigerator. Since it does not cut in conventional fashion, one also doesn't get any brackish or metallic taint/ taste to the contents. To use, the opener is placed atop the can, with the turning handle "up". [ Think "perpendicular" to the placement of a conventional opener.] Squeeze the grip handles with moderate pressure until the top seam is "pinched" in the roller mechanism, and instrument closes fully. Then simply turn the handle as one would with a conventional opener, one full revolution. On some cans, it will be immediately obvious that it has opened; others may require slight upward pressure, after removing the opener. It doesn't take "King Kong" strength to operate, but some of the elderly, arthritic, or others with reduced grip strength may find that this is not the ideal opener for them. I use this opener almost exclusively, and love it - but my wife can't stand it. This personal preference may explain some of the poor reviews [ I cannot think of any other reason for them.] This is the most hygienic opener I have ever used, as no cutters ever touch the contents of the can. Partly for this reason, I gave it a 5-star rating for "easy to clean" - little cleaning is actually needed. Design, materials, sturdiness and functionality are all first-rate. I gave it a 4-star rating for ease of use because of the slight learning curve involved, as well as the fact that those with significant impairment of the hands might be better served with an electric opener. Mine has opened many hundreds (1000 + ?) cans, and seems to work as well as when it opened the first one, quite a few years ago. In addition to cooking at least two meals a day at home, I also am the principal cook for a local veteran's charity. We usually prepare our luncheons in commercial/ institutional kitchens, and I use this opener exclusively, there, also. The largest cans I encounter in such establishments are the #10 cans, and it handles them with ease [Works just as well on tiny cans.] Although I have used this opener for years, I recently (August 2019) purchased two more, as I had mislaid the first (found a few days later.) The new ones appear as well made as the first, I expect that they will last as well, but they don't yet have the length of service of the original one. I have tried to relate my personal experience for the benefit of fellow customers, as well as clear up some confusion. I have not been compensated or remunerated for my review. I would close by saying that this item is an example of getting what one pays for (take a look at the Rosle garlic press as well) - the more cooking that one does, the more one will appreciate it. Just keep a close eye on yours if covetous fellow cooks are nearby [ just kidding - mostly].
