IN BRIEF: - My neck and shoulder pain have gone - It's good quality and value for the price - Incredibly comfortable once you get used to the slight water motion - Take care to squeeze all the air out and tighten the stopper with the provided tool - Don't make the same dumb mistake I did at first - the stopper side goes on the underside, the pillow just lies much better that way and won't bunch under your neck. *************** Having been suffering from neck and shoulder pain for quite some time I felt I should probably try a new pillow to see if it helps, I was just wary of buying one too firm or too soft. When I saw this one recommended for neck pain and the fact it can be adjusted to suit by adding more water for a firmer pillow I decided to take a chance on it. Filling it is fairly simple. I gradually added more water till it suited me. If you've ever squeezed the air out of a hot water bottle then you have to do the same thing with this. It's made a little trickier by the bulk of the pillow, but for most this won't be a difficult task. Some may need a hand due to the weight of it when full. I found it VERY odd to sleep on for about a fortnight or so. You do feel a bit of wave motion when you move through the night, but I did get used to it and I now find the motion quite pleasant. One thing I didn't realise is there's a top side and a bottom side. As I was nervous about it leaking or bursting at first I had it with the stopper on the top side. I found this made the pillow slope and wedge under my neck quite uncomfortably. Once I realised it actually lies much, much better the other way with the stopper underneath (and there's a nice plump pillowy bit on top) - the difference was like night and day! It seems so obvious now and a really stupid mistake, but I suspect I'm not the only person to have done this. I don't mind sharing my dumb error if it helps someone else have a better night's sleep. I've had it for over a month now and my neck and shoulder pain has now completely gone! This was pain that I'd had continuously for several months so I feel I can safely say it's entirely down to the change of pillow as nothing else had been helping. I wouldn't go as far as to say I'm having the absolutely best nights sleep in my life (there are so many other factors), but it has undoubtedly improved my comfort and I no longer wake in agony. I gather it hasn't helped everyone with pain issues, but I felt it was worth trying it anyway and I'm glad I did. I saw a review saying it was cheap quality, but I couldn't disagree more. Of course, it's not a £100 top of the range orthopaedic pillow, but it's far from cheap quality - and I've had more than my fair share of cheap (like Wilko/Poundstretcher cheap) pillows over the years! It's very good value for the price imo.

I have some serious neck problems (cervical degenerative disc disease, stenosis and Fibromyalgia) and have tried several pillows with different materials and shapes, including memory foam, and this is simply the best and the only one I use now. Because of the weight of the water it stays where you put it, rather than sliding out from any support position you started off with, and that makes a huge difference in itself! The actual comfort level and fit is adjusted my altering the volume of water in the pillow and I have to say that mine is just heaven to rest my head/neck with. The next massive advantage it has over any other pillow I've tried is: if you need to adjust your position inbred regularly, as I do due to pain, it does not matter where your head is along the pillow - right over to one side for instance, the support is exactly the same and it still feels like you are in the middle. Next, it does not seem to flatten during the course of the night, but still maintains the same level of support all the way until morning. Finally, the design and build is nothing short of brilliant! The filling hole has a funnel that screws in to prevent you spilling water onto the pillow itself and additionally serves as a highly efficient tool for removing and replacing the filler-cap. I say this as someone whose manual dexterity has deteriorated due to nerve damage down through my neck and into my arms and hands. Also included is a high quality zip up plastic cover so that you can safely and cleanly take it away on trips - although I'm not sure a large pillow is a suitable suitcase, space-taker if travelling abroad - I guess that depends on the individual circumstances. Overall: there are not enough stars to rate this accurately for me - it has made a huge difference to my night time comfort, HUGE! I shall hopefully be purchasing another two of these for members of my family who suffer with neck pain also... and I know they'll be thanking me for years!

The pocket that can be filled with water allows one to control the height and firmness of the pillow while the very soft top filling provides comfort. I am a side sleeper but I believe it would be great for all. Obviously it is heavy and one must remove water before transporting. This is easily done, but measure the amount which is just right for you .

This pillow has helped me sleep comfortably with spinal degenerative disease. Aligns well, easy to find your preferred comfort level while adjusting water level. Price was great. Pillow has lasted a few years and is holding up great. Is very heavy when full of water.

EDITED: After reading about 10 recent reviews I had to edit this one. It is NOT HEAVY.. Actually if you ever had a FIRM Down Pillow I would say the weight is about the same. Swing it around in a pillow fight. Why would you want to do that to a GOOD Pillow that is for sleeping. Want to pillow fight have another polyester or down pillow on bed for that. Propping up in bed. As one reviewer said, Have a couple of NON SLEEP pillows on bed for that. Although I do not find this pillow to be that heavy I would not abuse it by using it for propping. The pillow kept its height and shape all night and look pretty much like it did before I slept on it. I found that I did not have to sleep with my hand under it to prop my head up. My head rested on it as it should and wrapped around my neck supporting my neck. I find to get full support you must make sure the bottom of it is above your shoulders and not under them. Bottom Line, every one has an opinion and knows what works for them and their sleep problems. I do not see this pillow leaking in the near future if treated well. I am a back, side and stomach sleeper and it worked well with any position I was in last night. Great head and neck support and just what it is supposed to do. ORIGINAL Review: I got the product yesterday and could not wait to use it last night. Been waking up in the morning for months with stiff neck and terrible headaches. Although my neck is still a little stiff it is not as stiff as sleeping with out the pillow and headache is gone... I really do feel alot better and more able to face the world this morning. i filled it to medium but think that I might try the firm in a week or so . i slept on a waterbed for years and loved it . But can't risk putting it in the trailer I am living in now. Will definitely assemble it once I finish my Wood frame house. There is just nothing better for a good rest than a waterbed. Would always recommend that there be a regular bed in the spare room for anything but sleep, If you get my drift. Again this pillow is great and i anticipate my neck and headache to disappear soon. Only thing I could recommend to make this pillow 100% perfect is to do the filling with wool instead of polyester fiber polyester fibers do not hold up as well and do not breathes.. Wool breathes and stay cooler than anything else. They say that you can wash and dry the pillow (minus the water, LOL) but I would not recommend that.. I got a pillow protector and with the added pillow case you should have a great feeling and looking pillow for years to come.
