★★★★★ Outstanding Little Drone – More Fun Than I Expected
I already own two DJI Mini 4K drones, so I wasn't expecting the DJI Neo to impress me as much as it did. I purchased the drone-only version and after spending time with it both indoors and outdoors, I can honestly say this is one of the most fun drones I've ever owned. The first thing that surprised me was how incredibly stable it is. Indoors, it hovers almost rock solid using its vision and optical sensors. Even in hallways and around the house, it feels confident and controlled. Outdoors, I flew it on a breezy day and was amazed at how well it held position despite not relying on the same GPS-based hovering that my Mini 4K uses. The autonomous features are where this drone really shines. Follow Me mode works surprisingly well and feels almost futuristic. Watching the drone automatically track and follow me while keeping me centered in the frame was impressive. I even tested it on stairs and around obstacles, and it handled itself far better than I expected from such a small drone. It was really fun to walk down the street with this thing following me, watching the expressions of passerby's, looking at the strange looking object following me around like it was stalking me. Another huge advantage is convenience. Unlike larger drones, the Neo is ready to fly in seconds. Hand launches, quick autonomous flight modes, and easy video transfers through the DJI Fly app make it incredibly easy to use. Because it has built-in storage, I was recording videos immediately without having to worry about memory cards. Build quality is excellent, which is what I've come to expect from DJI. The fully enclosed propeller guards also make it much less intimidating for indoor flying and for beginners. If you're looking for a traditional long-range aerial photography drone, DJI already has other models for that. But if you want a drone that is fun, portable, easy to use, great for tracking shots, and surprisingly capable both indoors and outdoors, the DJI Neo is an easy five-star purchase. It's like having your own invisible cameraman. Highly recommended.

Great Value Compact Drone for Beginners and Casual Flying
The DJI Neo 1 is a small and compact drone with a very good price-to-quality ratio. It’s an excellent option for beginners or for people who don’t need a large, complex drone or special permits. In my case, living in Colombia, drones under 200 grams do not need to be registered and are considered recreational, which makes this model even more attractive. Despite its size, it offers decent image quality and useful features for casual flying. It’s lightweight, easy to transport, and very convenient to carry anywhere. Of course, we can’t expect a 30-minute battery life from a drone this size—the average flight time is around 14 minutes—so I highly recommend having at least three batteries for a better experience. It’s important to understand that this drone has the DNA of more professional DJI drones, but it is not a professional drone in a small body. The image quality is good for its category, but one limitation is the lack of a more advanced multi-axis gimbal. Additionally, strong winds can affect stability when flying at higher altitudes. Overall, it delivers exactly what it promises. It’s a very good drone that I would recommend both to beginners and to drone enthusiasts who want something compact, portable, and easy to use without taking up much space.

This is one of the best purchases I've made
I’ve gone through a handful of drones trying to avoid spending big money. After losing a couple in the past, I tried to stay under the $1,000 mark. In order from cheapest to most expensive, I’ve owned the Ruko F11, SJRC F11, and HoverAir ProMax. The Ruko and SJRC were exactly what you’d expect for the price: limited features, mediocre build quality, and not something you’d trust for anything serious. The HoverAir ProMax was the first one that felt like a real product, but it’s basically a selfie drone. It markets itself as a first-person drone with features like Follow-Me, but that mode barely worked. Even after spending extra on the controller, it constantly lost track of me. Between the drone and accessories, I spent around $1,000 and still couldn’t rely on it. So when I picked up the DJI Neo, I wasn’t expecting much. I was wrong. It’s a fantastic drone. The DJI Neo has many of the same features as the HoverAir, but there are trade-offs. The HoverAir definitely has sharper photo and video quality, and it has sensors on more sides. But the DJI Neo is half the price, and more importantly, it can be fully remote-controlled. With the DJI RC2 controller, I can fly it confidently across my entire 15-acre property, about a mile out, without issues. The HoverAir’s controller was limited to basic movement, maybe 100 feet of usable range, and constantly losing signal or tracking. One feels like a true drone, the other feels like a novelty item. Yes, you sacrifice a bit of image quality with the Neo, but what you gain is a real drone experience: real range, real control, real reliability. Nothing kills the experience faster than constantly turning around on a trail to see if your drone stopped following you and then walking back 50 feet to retrieve it. I dealt with that constantly with the HoverAir. With the DJI Neo, that’s never been a concern. If you want a dependable drone that actually flies instead of just hovering next to you for selfies, the DJI Neo is absolutely worth it.

Awesome little drone for ultralight hiking, work, documentation etc
I am extremely happy with this drone. For reference, I had the original DJI FPV drone which I dropped an insane amount of money on (full regret), with the gen 2 goggles, hard shell case, extra batteries, props, etc.. All told we are talking well over $1400 (I know I know). My main reason for switching to the neo is size. I wanted to be able to throw a drone in a carry on or in my ultralight go-pack for a weekend solo backpacking trip. I also wanted to be able to pluck the drone out of the air with my bare hands without having to worry that a gust of wind was going to result in my losing a finger. This drone complete with a charger, anker battery brick, extra battery, extra props, and a few tools, all fits in the LKTOP carrying case no problem and weighs basically nothing as far as I'm concerned. For ultralight backpacking, I will fly this exclusively with my phone. The fact that it can also be used as an FPV drone is incredible (unfortunately it does NOT work with the original DJI FPV goggles or controller (gen2), which is a real bummer for me). battery charges from an anker battery brick in about 2 minutes, so I really do think that the triple battery set and charger is way overkill. By the time you finish flying with one battery, the other battery will be basically fully charged and ready to go. I am not a hollywood director, so the 4k at 30 FPS is more than good enough for me. The neo sits in that beautiful niche of ultralight recon drone. I am extremely, extremely happy with it, and the $200 price point is honestly a steal. The one thing I am really not a fan of is the DJI fly app and the fact that on android you have to download it from the DJI website and turn off all sorts of security to use it. That is a serious concern of mine, and for that I nearly removed one star.... But in terms of hardware, the softwares functionality (not security), and the joy of using this thing.... hard to beat. I already accidentally flew it into some tree branches and it was none the worse for wear.

Here's the update: Do NOT buy any of this stuff unless you have downloaded and installed DJI Fly.
This has been infinitely frustrating. I am trying to install DJI Fly on a relatively recent Samsung smartphone. Over and over I get the message "App not installed". I kept my cool and began researching. Days later I found an APK installer app that told me WHY the app was not installing; the version I downloaded FROM DJI was not compatible. I downloaded and installed. The DJI app spends all of its and your time trying to get you to UPGRADE AND PAY. I respectfully declined. I have decided to soldier on and will update this review if I have good news eventually. Okay, I returned the drone and controller and bought them again as a package. This apparently still will not work without DJI Fly, but my kid let me download and install. Once you have DJI Fly working, everything is a breeze. Otherwise it will not work at all. UPDATE: Non-pro tip. If you buy a drone+controller bundle, the drone and controller are already linked and you can shoot video straight to drone internal storage and then transfer to your computer. This is per "Rufus", so may turn out to be inaccurate. This means I'm probably returning the drone and controller to buy them together, which is obviously another massive hassle. Oh well... UPDATE: This thing takes amazing video. Truly stunning. It is so easy to fly, once you get it going at all. Like I said earlier, if you can't download, install and run DJI Fly don't bother. DJI Go will NOT work, trust me on this one.

Perfect for beginners. Works as it should. Great value!
Ok this is not my first Neo, I crashed the first one and lost it. I didn't know about the gps-history "find-me" function so I considered it gone. Should've bought the warranty. Ok but now I offer this review as this is my 2nd one, I'm using the RCn3 controller with my iphone. This is the perfect gift for a newby (12+ yrs old). Once you get up in the air (on a calm day that is) you'll see how easy it is to control, maneuver, and bring back home without worry, very stable. On a rainy day, you can even fly this in your house, apartment, or like me, the Comfort Inn and Suites in Henderson, NV, yes even on the elevator and through the slider doors. You can use this with. the app on your phone, or with the nc3 controller, which allows for farther distance. Battery life will vary on how hard the aircraft has to maintain a stable position, wind plays a big role, so I recommend at least three batteries and a USB3 charger that you'd use for your ipad or laptop to get a faster charge. Yes, it's worth it, do it as a gift, but get the added insurance!

Great for minimalist traveling, amazing price for what you get
This is a great simple minimalistic travel drone. I also have mini 3 pro and the autel nano. This drone I like because it is more travel, friendly and smaller. The drone types serve at very different purposes for me. This one is handy to have while backpacking the planet on the trip I'm on for about a year. I left my other drones at home because i knew I might be an uzbekistan, which has very harsh drone laws (at the time, I was traveling there. The rule was, they just take your drone away. And you don't get it back). I bought this drone when I was in thailand i've been using it around my travels for a few months now. It's so light simple and easy. Because I travel with a single small carry on backpack i opted to buy no additional battery, no Radio, just the drone, and I just use my phone to control it. It is absolutely perfect for getting simple shots from great perspectives. If you're looking for longer battery life and more agility, like the other models I mentioned, then, this drone is probably not what you are looking for. But if you want high enough quality shots for things, such as youtube channels and other social media platforms, then this is your drone. Follow me works extremely extremely well, and i've used it in quite confined spaces. Manual control works quite well on the phone. You can tilt the camera down and up quite a bit and record in both horizontal and vertical format. The control interface on the phone is surprisingly good.
