For the price, this thing is amazing
I took this with me to Europe, where I interviewed artists and attendees at a heavy metal festival. This device was supposed to be just the backup audio. However, it captured sound more consistently and faithfully than the $200 cardioid mic of my camera. Further, it's not too finicky regarding the placement: just angle it toward whoever is speaking, and if there are multiple people in that direction, it will pick up them all. Then with just a bit of EQ in the editing phase, the sound is great on the resultant videos. Further, the the device is so small and slim that it's easy and comfortable to slip into a pants pocket or small pocket of a camera bag. I jostled it around in a camera bag for two days, and it took no harm. So I suppose it's fairly sturdy. My one complaint is that it comes with (as I recall) either no instructions or simply not very helpful ones, and the device's controls are *not* intuitive. You'll need quickly to learn how to avoid deleting things accidentally, for example. All that having been said, you're not going to find a recorder that's comparable to this one in sound quality, sound sensitivity, portability, or durability through a music store for under $100, and most range from $300-$400. For the price (around $25 when I got it) this is a fairly amazing little recorder.

Perfect for Lectures, Meetings, and Everyday Voice Notes
I recently purchased the EVISTR 64GB Digital Voice Recorder, and I must say, it exceeded my expectations in nearly every way. Whether you’re a student, journalist, or professional who needs to capture high-quality audio on the go, this device delivers reliability, clarity, and convenience in a compact package. Pros: Crystal Clear Recording: The microphone is surprisingly powerful for a small device. Even in a large classroom or meeting room, it picks up voices clearly with minimal background noise. Great for lectures and interviews. Voice Activation Mode: This feature is a game-changer! It starts recording only when sound is detected, which saves battery life and storage space. No more hours of silent recordings to sort through. Generous Storage: With 64GB of built-in memory, you can store hundreds of hours of recordings without worrying about running out of space. No need for external memory cards. Playback & MP3 Function: You can listen to recordings directly on the device with the built-in speaker or headphones. It also supports MP3 playback, making it a convenient music player. USB Connectivity: Easily connects to any computer via USB to transfer files. No drivers needed. It’s plug-and-play simplicity at its best. Compact and Lightweight: Fits easily in a pocket, purse, or backpack. You’ll barely notice it’s there, which is great for on-the-go use. Cons: Small Screen and Buttons: While functional, the screen and controls are small, which may be tricky for users with limited dexterity or vision. User Manual Could Be Clearer: Some features (like setting time/date or voice activation) aren’t immediately intuitive, but once you figure it out, it’s smooth sailing. Bottom Line: The EVISTR 64GB Voice Recorder is a reliable, high-performing tool for capturing audio in any situation. Whether you’re recording lectures, business meetings, or personal notes, this little device gets the job done and then some. With its long battery life, generous storage, and clear recording quality, it’s easily one of the best recorders in its price range. Highly recommend!

Quality Sound, Quick AVR Recording, Crappy Folder
Still working it out, but works as described so far. Sound is really good, actually impressed with it. The voice recording on it is pretty quick. Activates on the 'ix' when saying sixteen for example. So you shouldn't miss more than half a word, so long as you have the right sensitivity selected (1-5 = default is 2 for voices). Once I'm as familiar with it as I'm gonna get, I'll update. Just wish I knew if I could name the recordings. Finding which recordings to delete amidst strings of numbers, you gotta be careful not to delete wrong ones. Will figure it out.👍 Update When you go to delete a recording, it will only show you the first six numbers. Out of fourteen. I had 9-10 files recently, 6-8 of which had the first 6 numbers being identical. So that was great(sarcasm). When you go to delete, the numbers don't slide over. When you select a recording out of the Folder, then go to delete, it can pick a different recording and you wouldn't know (unless there was a discrepancy in the first 6 numbers). Why they aren't marked File1,File2,File3 etc (or even F1,F2,F3 etc) is beyond me. I've lost two recordings that I really, really wish I still had. I removed a star for the Folder system. I almost gave this 1-2 stars, but I pride myself on being a reasonable person. So. It all still stands, but the Folder labels the recordings stupidly. Almost ruins the recorder for me. I'm speaking only for the Recorder, I don't know how it works with a computer. Perhaps the Folder/Recordings can be labeled there. I don't know. Also sound quality 4 and up seems to be too sensitive. Basically just white noise, unless it's picking up EVPs and wasn't advertised for such. 🤔 Regardless, long recording to go over/erase, and ate my battery. 3 is best bet at most.

Great for the Tech Challenged!
My mom, age 80, is doing an audio walkthrough of her old photo albums and Ancestry findings, and I needed an easy to use recorder that she could use. This was perfect. The recording function is easy, clear, and her memos are super easy to upload into a file on the computer.

Sound, recording good; downsides seen during professional reporting work
I've been using this for newspaper reporting, and on the plus side it is a handy size, records well, and so far the battery life has been good (for light to medium use in less than a year). Nice to have a recording device to free up a phone for other uses. Overall, it performs its stated function as advertised. Worth the price listed, in my opinion. Downsides: - The readout is small for these middle-aged eyes. - Time delay to actually start recording is not instant. I'd expect more in a recording device, but I get immediate record from my smartphone, and don't have to wait for the "please wait" message to cycle to finally start. It's not an instant gratification thing here, it's a "this should be as good or better" as it is specifically designed for recording and should at least be good as a phone (which multitasks on many things). - "Where's my file?" OK, freaked out today as two interview files were not on there. Turns out the record date was messed up on these and found them buried within the list. NOT fun, and why I lost my date stamp is unknown as the device has not been run down to zero power. Overall: I'll keep using this, for the plus sides stated above. The product is good, it's durable and I've been pleased with the sound and recording ability. You'll have to review my experiences here to see whether those downsides are deal-breakers for a purchase.

Ideal recorder for great price
Very impressed with this recorder. Takes a little to get used to the buttons but otherwise it’s really practical, small, lightweight, and the battery life has surprisingly lasted longer than expected. It uses USB-C to connect to my laptop & easily uploads your files. Great value for the money. I would recommend this recorder Tip: follow the instructions & turn the settings up high to get fantastic performance However it still works well normal settings.

Button Mechanism Failed After 2 Months – Hoping Manufacturer Will Address This
I purchased the EVISTR L357 64GB voice recorder to use for lectures and meetings. On paper it looks like a great value with large storage and many positive reviews. Unfortunately my experience has been disappointing. After about two months of normal use, one of the main buttons stopped working. The recorder was not dropped or mishandled. It was simply used for starting and stopping recordings. For context, I work with computers and electronics and have experience repairing devices. After the button failed, I opened the recorder to inspect the issue. The internal plastic actuator that presses the switch had broken. The outer button still appears normal, but it no longer presses the internal switch, making the device essentially unusable. The electronics themselves still work. If I press the tiny switch directly on the board with a tool, the recorder functions normally. This suggests the failure is due to a weak mechanical button design rather than electronic failure. The recording quality and storage are acceptable for the price, but a recorder’s buttons are its most critical component. When that fails after only a couple of months, it raises serious concerns about durability. If the manufacturer sees this review, I would appreciate hearing from them and I would be happy to update this review if the issue is addressed.
