For the price, this thing is amazing
I took this with me to Europe, where I interviewed artists and attendees at a heavy metal festival. This device was supposed to be just the backup audio. However, it captured sound more consistently and faithfully than the $200 cardioid mic of my camera. Further, it's not too finicky regarding the placement: just angle it toward whoever is speaking, and if there are multiple people in that direction, it will pick up them all. Then with just a bit of EQ in the editing phase, the sound is great on the resultant videos. Further, the the device is so small and slim that it's easy and comfortable to slip into a pants pocket or small pocket of a camera bag. I jostled it around in a camera bag for two days, and it took no harm. So I suppose it's fairly sturdy. My one complaint is that it comes with (as I recall) either no instructions or simply not very helpful ones, and the device's controls are *not* intuitive. You'll need quickly to learn how to avoid deleting things accidentally, for example. All that having been said, you're not going to find a recorder that's comparable to this one in sound quality, sound sensitivity, portability, or durability through a music store for under $100, and most range from $300-$400. For the price (around $25 when I got it) this is a fairly amazing little recorder.

Microphone quality is bad enough to affect functionality.
For 30$, it is a good product. However, the microphone recording quality is bad enough to affect its useability. It is still useable, to be sure. And I did not expect it to match the recording quality of an iphone which may cost over 20x the price. This recorder is not at all "a scam". However, the recording quality is quite bad. I confirmed that it was not the speaker, because the device comes pre-loaded with recordings from the manufacturer, saying "thank you and check out our website". That audio plays with good quality. All audios I recorded myself, from various angles and distances, all sounded blown out. Not quite as bad as the intercom at a fast food restaurant, but nearly that bad. And to be clear, I am not a musician. I got this to take voice memos without using my phone. For 30$ with 64GB of storage and a rechargeable battery, this product would do fine. But I am in a place where I can spend a bit more to get a better recording quality. Even for "functional" use, such as voice notes to yourself, the quality of the microphone is bad enough that it will affect this use case. Not a lot, but enough to make it hard to discern certain words. I assumed in 2026, that a very good voice recorder could be had for this price. I did not bother doing product research. I will do other research and see how competing products do. If I find one under 50$ that is "great" quality, I will update this review. If the "great" one costs more than 50$, I will leave this review as-is

Great for the Tech Challenged!
My mom, age 80, is doing an audio walkthrough of her old photo albums and Ancestry findings, and I needed an easy to use recorder that she could use. This was perfect. The recording function is easy, clear, and her memos are super easy to upload into a file on the computer.

Simpler to use than expected
EVISTR L357 64gb (Regularly on sale for $20 or under I paid $30 not knowing this but still a great buy.) Simpler than I expected, took me all of 10 minutes to figure out how to use it without reading the instructions Playback is clear enough without messing with any settings. Record button records, stop button stops and saves, hit menu button scroll to delete and will delete the recording your on. I guess depending on what your using it for but on playback it starts with the newest recording and you have to hit 'rew' to playback the the previous recording. Would be nice to have a setting to "playback first recording -or- last" as an option. Also the usb charger cable is comically short but you can just use your phone charger. (type-C). Light weight but feels well made , enough storage for me, plugged into PC it plays back great -transfer speeds were instant. Havent used it long enough to judge the battery life. -will update.

EVISTR 64GB Digital Voice Recorder Review
This EVISTR 64GB Digital Voice Recorder arrives well-packaged, immediately giving a positive first impression. Picking it up, the recorder has a noticeable heft, which lends a feeling of solid construction and quality workmanship. Thankfully, setting it up was a breeze, as the instructions proved to be quite intuitive. To test its recording capabilities, I conducted a few trials at varying distances. At five feet, the audio captured was clear and easily legible, which is excellent. However, as the distance increased, the performance noticeably declined. At ten feet, the volume became marginal, and by the time I reached twenty feet, the audio quality was unfortunately poor. Considering my specific need for a recorder to capture business meeting summaries, the performance at shorter distances is encouraging. The solid feel of the device suggests it could withstand regular use. However, the significant drop-off in audio quality beyond a close range is a definite limitation. In summary: The EVISTR recorder boasts good build quality and user-friendly instructions. For recording audio within a close proximity, such as directly on a table during a meeting, it appears to perform well. However, if you anticipate needing to clearly capture conversations from across a larger meeting room, this recorder might fall short. It seems best suited for situations where the recorder can be placed relatively close to the speakers.

Perfect for Lectures, Meetings, and Everyday Voice Notes
I recently purchased the EVISTR 64GB Digital Voice Recorder, and I must say, it exceeded my expectations in nearly every way. Whether you’re a student, journalist, or professional who needs to capture high-quality audio on the go, this device delivers reliability, clarity, and convenience in a compact package. Pros: Crystal Clear Recording: The microphone is surprisingly powerful for a small device. Even in a large classroom or meeting room, it picks up voices clearly with minimal background noise. Great for lectures and interviews. Voice Activation Mode: This feature is a game-changer! It starts recording only when sound is detected, which saves battery life and storage space. No more hours of silent recordings to sort through. Generous Storage: With 64GB of built-in memory, you can store hundreds of hours of recordings without worrying about running out of space. No need for external memory cards. Playback & MP3 Function: You can listen to recordings directly on the device with the built-in speaker or headphones. It also supports MP3 playback, making it a convenient music player. USB Connectivity: Easily connects to any computer via USB to transfer files. No drivers needed. It’s plug-and-play simplicity at its best. Compact and Lightweight: Fits easily in a pocket, purse, or backpack. You’ll barely notice it’s there, which is great for on-the-go use. Cons: Small Screen and Buttons: While functional, the screen and controls are small, which may be tricky for users with limited dexterity or vision. User Manual Could Be Clearer: Some features (like setting time/date or voice activation) aren’t immediately intuitive, but once you figure it out, it’s smooth sailing. Bottom Line: The EVISTR 64GB Voice Recorder is a reliable, high-performing tool for capturing audio in any situation. Whether you’re recording lectures, business meetings, or personal notes, this little device gets the job done and then some. With its long battery life, generous storage, and clear recording quality, it’s easily one of the best recorders in its price range. Highly recommend!

Button Mechanism Failed After 2 Months – Hoping Manufacturer Will Address This
I purchased the EVISTR L357 64GB voice recorder to use for lectures and meetings. On paper it looks like a great value with large storage and many positive reviews. Unfortunately my experience has been disappointing. After about two months of normal use, one of the main buttons stopped working. The recorder was not dropped or mishandled. It was simply used for starting and stopping recordings. For context, I work with computers and electronics and have experience repairing devices. After the button failed, I opened the recorder to inspect the issue. The internal plastic actuator that presses the switch had broken. The outer button still appears normal, but it no longer presses the internal switch, making the device essentially unusable. The electronics themselves still work. If I press the tiny switch directly on the board with a tool, the recorder functions normally. This suggests the failure is due to a weak mechanical button design rather than electronic failure. The recording quality and storage are acceptable for the price, but a recorder’s buttons are its most critical component. When that fails after only a couple of months, it raises serious concerns about durability. If the manufacturer sees this review, I would appreciate hearing from them and I would be happy to update this review if the issue is addressed.
