I've several old pieces of wood that have seen significant travels around the world since 1945 and they do need some care and maintenance. Sanding the wood roughly with some 400 grit that was dipped in this and letting it sit for 36-48 hours has really brought out the character of the stocks.Roughing up the wood with 400 and this paste really helped to get the oil into the wood and treat it. There is a definite chemical odor with this and I think there may be a hardner in it but it does dry quick and the smell doesn't linger on as obnoxious. It does have the old wood smell that is pleasant if you're into that.There is a time limit on the can as to be expected. After opening it for the first time, you're on the clock and have 12 months to use it before it probably will be a rock. So have some projects stacked up before you start on this.It does darken the wood a bit but after 3 coats and some cotton rag buffing the shine is coming out.I'm glad I got this and really have enjoyed using it over the last month and remembering all the work that went into getting the wood that way 80 years ago and treating it so it may last another 80 years.
