Better Than the Average Introduction
This presents itself as an introduction to the beginning of civilization. While it is not that--there was more to civilization than what was going on in Europe and Asia--it is an excellent intro to the first civilizations in that area. Much more detailed than the average introductory text, this is a fine way to learn the basics of a part of history that the average casual reader may have little knowledge of.
