The Convenience Store By The Sea ⛵
the story takes place in a small convenience store 🏪 called "Tenderness" near by the sea⛱️ in City called Mojiko, where locals and travelers stop by. More than a shop, the store becomes a place where people’s lives, memories, and stories come together. The main character Mitsuri works there, watching customers and reflecting on their own life. The manager of the convenience store Shibu has a fan club dedicated to him.The beginning of the story felt a bit slow for me, but after finishing the first chapter, it became interesting and comforting💕. I truly loved it from the second chapter onward🩷.My favourite lines from the book are:" Life is like that, Only a handful get to put rice in the pot by doing what they love "🩵"Successful people all say that, They just had to find a way to keep going, no matter what. If you can do that for long enough without reward, can't we call that talent?"🩵

beautiful read
Another country another culture for me but the same human behavior, the same complexities and the same tenderness. This book just transports you to the Convenience Store and all those at the store (Manager, Staff, Customers and their families’)

Love it
‘The Convenience Store by the Sea’ offers a tender exploration of community through the lens of Tenderness, a quaint 24/7 shop nestled near Mojiko Port. Structured as a series of interconnected vignettes, the novel mirrors the comforting rhythm of daily life with each chapter introducing new faces while revisiting familiar ones.At the heart of the story lies the store itself, a haven for locals seeking solace, connection or a quick meal. The manager, Shiba radiates an enigmatic charm that captivates customers particularly a group of devoted elderly women, blending light humor with warmth. The narrative thrives in its quiet moments, celebrating the small yet profound ways people intersect from a burnt-out teacher rediscovering purpose to a bullied teen finding friendship. The author deftly weaves societal issues like aging, school bullying and the rise of ‘grey divorce’ into her tapestry, though the balance between fanciful elements and gritty realism occasionally falters.
