Best quality cast iron griddle.
Excellent griddle. Best ever quality of cast iron. It is so well pre-seasoned, beautifully designed. Recommend to buy.

Fantastic Cast Iron Griddle
Quality is top notch. Browns food very well. Can sear meats like mutton and chicken on it, before cooking them separately. Can also make Uttapams and Dosas flawlessly. One tiny complaint is that, when I add ghee/oil before the sear, they don't stay in the middle of the tawa, and wander off to one side. But that may also be because my stove is slightly tilted.

One has to use it carefully.
I’ve using this everyday since a month, it’s working fine in terms of durability , it has to be seasoned every time u wash it. Sturdiness is good. Value for money - it’s very expensive. The only problem there is a problem oil seeps to the sides of the pan, in the middle food gets stuck so adjusting flame n the pan has to be continuously done while cooking and u hv to add oil also so that food doesn’t stick in between .. otherwise it’s good for tawa fries. Roti and paratha gets a little hard when u cook, perfect for dosa and fries. Also a handle cover is imp or else chances r the that you burn urself

Great purchase!
It works very well. I tried making dosas whilst using it for the first time. Cast iron or earthen cookware is not new to me. I've been using both for years. But I've never managed making dosas on them so far. So I was a bit sceptical about how well they would turn out. This was my first purchase from lodge brand. I washed the pan with mild liquid dish soap. Dried it who a cloth and immediately smeared it with oil. Then attempted my first dosa, which got stuck towards the center. But from the second one onwards it worked beautifully and towards the end Iwas able to make thin crispy ones too.Loved the product. A bit pricey, however, it seems really durable!

Needs patience, but you get the best results!
Cooking with cast iron is an art. I had previously used lodge cast iron sauce pan and it was very easy to maintain and use. I had assumed a similar experience with this dosa girdle as well. But, this needs a bit of patience. First time i tried dosa it stuck to my pan for the entire morning. I was in half a mind to return it when i went through the reviews below. Someone mentioned that it worked for them after oiling it and letting it get very hot till steam rose. So, once a day, for two days i oiled the pan, and heated it till smoke started rising. On third day i again heated it with a little bit of oil and dabbed it across the pan. The dosas started coming put beautifully. No extra oil was needed and compared to non-stick it consumes very less oil while making dosas. Must have for better iron absorption, but need to treat it with patience and love and will definitely get great results. It is long lasting too, so definitely worth the additional cost over India made brands.

Lodge the name u can trust.....
Buy it..you will never regret.....it's Lodge ....the name u can trust.... It's little bit heavy and u have to season it before use as it has some coating on it...takes little bit time to heat and once it get heated it stays heated for long ....becareful as the handle gets very hot while cooking ....use medium flame while cooking ... wash gently with mild soap afterwards ...Use soft scrubber.....Dry well and apply little oil on both sides ...and thats it .....it will serve u a lifetime....Using it for a year now and still it looks brand-new as I take care of it properly....Again i am telling after cooking allow it to cool then wash it , dry it and apply oil....Be aware that within an hour rust will appear on the pan if u don't apply oil.....For seasoning always put oil and heat with high flame till it smokes and reapply oil again once the oil get absorbed . after that u r pan will become nonstick...Do this always before cooking....Update- using this since 2016 and still looKing new and serving me well....Thanks lodgy

Good Investment
The pan I received has some imperfection on the edges (outer surface) on some areas. It looks as though a thin portion has been shaved off - it is not visible from the top though. (Not sure if this is a normal casting issue.)As for the pan itself, whether it is a good investment depends on what you are looking for. The primary reason I went for the Lodge pan is because of its handle. In a space constrained kitchen, it helps in handling/moving the pan quickly if needed when compared to the locally manufactured cast iron dosa pans which all seems to have a small holed protrusion for a handle. (The heavy local pans are superior when it comes to the cooking surface itself as they have a smooth finish. I don't think the pebbly surface of Lodge will ever wear well wnough to match the local pans.)Like other Lodge ware, the cooking surface of the pan is 'pebbly' (uneven). This as such won't be a problem, provided you season the pan well and use it as much as you can. Even a few days of careful use make a lot of difference. (The pre-seasoning is not enough to create a real non stick surface. You can cook on it of course - but it will take some oil initially.). The pan doesn't heat up uniformly - especially over small and medium burners - as is to be expected with cast iron. However, you can move the pan once in a while to counter that issue to some extent. (Once it gets hot, the pan stays hot for a long time.)PS: Please be careful if you have never used pans with non insulated handles (or haven't used one in a long while). There is a good chance of you forgetting that the handles of cast iron pans can get very hot and burning yourself. It takes a while to get used to the pan if you are new to such pans.
