Can this transformer be put on a dimmer light switch?

Hi,This transformer is great, so much cheaper than a replacement for the original, and, so far... so good.In the first instance the light fitting that contained the original transformer, had a dimmer switch attached, and all was fine.Our opinion is that as the original transformer failed, the dimmer switch equally became inactive, hence we replaced the dimmer switch on the original transformer (i.e. before it gave up altogether, with an ordinary switch.)However, we have not tried to add a dimmer switch to the new transformer, so we cannot honestly answer your question, but, for the price, if it were me I would definitely have a go. As I say, in the original setting the dimmer switch worked fine. (The whole system had been working without failure, for at least 10 years!)Hope this helps.Jan Rigby

Does the bottom section come off?

The lower third of the transformer body (from about a 4 o'clock to an 8 o'clock position) shown in the photograph comes away so you can connect the mains supply cable (which goes in on the left) and , as in my case the leads going out to the lamp fittings ( going in on the right) as I was using this to replace a transformer which had failed in a light fitting my wife and I both rather wanted to keep.
