Whimsical Stitches - An Amigurumi Crochet Book: 1 (Modern Makers)

I am a beginner at crochet, I only started my crochet journey in April. I had only made granny squares and simple blankets. I really wanted to try making little arigurumi creations, I was very daunted, but have made two little creatures today! The instructions are in US terms, but easy to covert to UK terms (I stuck a post it note on the page I was working on with the US to UK terminology as a reminder). Clear instructions and there are lots of photos with the instructions to guide you further. I am thoroughly enjoying this book and would highly recommend it.

I have made a few of the animals from the book and they are so cute. It also helped me improve my crochet skills. It has all the information a beginner would need.

I am a novice at crochet, but this book is the best one I’ve come across. Great instructions, photos and easy to follow! Well worth the money, and the contents in the book are very cute!

I've attached pictures of my makes in the order that I made them, I'm still in the process of making the pig. The cactus is just one part of a larger pattern included in the book, I added the flower from a different pattern (not in book). Pros: - I had never crocheted before I picked up this book so I found the step by step photos really helpful, I struggled with the magic ring at first and needed to watch a youtube video before I got the hang of it, apart from that I was able to easily follow all the instructions in the book - I love the range of patterns available and find they are quite flexible in that if I choose a different weight of wool than the one recommended or add extra stitches by accident they still come out great Things to know before you buy: - The book uses American terminology e.g. double crochet in UK is known as single crochet in the US. Also the weights or the yarn are called different things e.g. worsted weight in the US is called Aran in the UK, as I was completely new to crochet & from the UK I had to work out these differences, this is easily done by doing a google search and shouldn't put you off. - Most of the patterns use a 4.25mm crochet hook, this seems to be a US only size and I was only able to find one from Boye on Amazon, again this shouldn't be a problem if you buying this book from Amazon you can buy the recommended hook at the same time or ignore the recommendation and just use a 5mm hook.

I've been following Lauren for a while on Instsgram and just had to get her book. It's beautifully layed out with clear instructions and photos for you to follow and make the wonderful amigurumis. I've made a few whales so far (pictured) and currently working on the succulents. So many great designs! An ideal gift for a beginner or experienced crocheter. Also, the patterns are quick to make up which means plenty of time to make more!

This was a gift for my wife. She's new to crochet and finding it very helpful. Already half way making a cuddly for our son.

Such a fun crochet book. Full of easy to follow patterns. Already made quite a few. Instructions are easy to follow. Depending on the yarn can have makes the items either smaller or larger

These patterns are well-written and easy to follow. They require worsted weight yarn rather than amigurumi yarn, though I have experimented with both. My children love the designs and have already given me a shopping list!

Es un libro muy bonito. Tiene bastantes fotografías y a pesar de estar en inglés las instrucciones son bastante entendibles, y eso que en realidad tengo poco tiempo de haber empezado a hacer amigurumis. Los diseños están muy bonitos, desde muy sencillos hasta otros un poco más complicados. En general, las figuras salen de un tamaño pequeño a mediano, dependiendo del grosor del estambre que se utilice; lo recomiendo.

I had never crocheted a stitch in my life, but I was able to get started right away with this book (and a bit of help from YouTube)! The patterns are clear and easy to follow even if you have no idea what you're doing. There's a great stitch guide in the beginning to help you understand the terms that will be used throughout the book. I felt like there is a great variety of difficulties available, so if you're just starting off, maybe you'll start with an egg or a blueberry. Once you've learned the ropes and gotten more comfortable, you can try something fancier, and keep going up from there. Lovely variety in the patterns, and you'll soon be combining them to make your own ideas come to life! Very clear needs-lists at the start of the patterns will make shopping a snap, and there's plenty of overlap between projects to prevent waste. I can't wait to keep making my way through this book, I'm hooked! (hue hue hue)

Really a great help. Way of explaining stitches, materials and step by step picture guidance are best for even kids. I appreciate the effort of the author. Great book for you crocheting.
