Accurate, Professional-Grade Pool Test Kit That Takes the Guesswork Out
I picked up the Taylor K-2005 Test Kit for my pool, and itโs a big step up from basic test strips. If you want reliable, consistent readings, this kit delivers. The biggest advantage is accuracy. The DPD testing method for chlorine and bromine gives clear, easy-to-read results, and youโre not trying to guess colors like you do with strips. It tests everything you needโfree and total chlorine, pH, alkalinity, and calcium hardnessโso you get a complete picture of your water. The instructions are straightforward, and once you run through it once or twice, the process becomes quick and routine. Each test is clearly laid out, and the reagents are labeled well, which helps avoid confusion. What I really like is the consistency. Iโve tested multiple times and get dependable readings, which makes balancing chemicals much easier. That alone saves time and money because youโre not overcorrecting based on bad data. The case is organized and keeps everything in place, making it easy to store and bring out when needed. It feels like a professional-grade kit without being overly complicated. Overall, this is a must-have if youโre serious about maintaining your pool the right way. Much more accurate than strips and worth it for the control it gives you over your water chemistry. Highly recommended.

The Gold Standard for Pool Water Testing
As a pool service professional, I can confidently say this is one of the best water testing kits available. The results are accurate, consistent, and much more reliable than test strips. It includes everything needed to properly balance pool chemistry, and the instructions are easy to follow. The reagents are high quality, and the sturdy case keeps everything organized. If you want professional-level testing for your pool, this kit is absolutely worth the investment. Highly recommended!

Much better results than strips, but pH is unreliable
Overall, very happy with the Taylor set. I will note that pH is very finnicky. My first set, the pH was worthless as the pH reagent neared expiration. My second set, the pH was worthless way BEFORE its expiration. It always reads pH of 8.0 or above. I will note, one drop of "pH down" and it gives a more accurate result. I've taken to using a Apero pH meter. I'm using a salt water pool, not sure if that has an impact. Chlorine is accurate between 0-5ppm, but often hard to read exact color if chlorine reaches 5-10 ppm or above. I started using the Taylor DPD-FAS Chlorine test for accuracy in higher range, but its not included in this kit. Alkalinity and Hardness seem to be spot on.

Excellent Seller, just be wary of the "salt test"
I don't write many reviews, but this seller and product deserve recognition. Having owned my own pool servicing company for a number of years before completely retiring. I used (and still do for my own pool) these kits exclusively, I was pleasantly surprised by the expiration dates of the reagents in my new kit. My old kit had expired 6 months ago. The closest reagent expires 04/27, with others lasting even longer. I was relieved by this as the expirations are not posted in the description. I have purchased kits (same one) at pool stores, here and eBay over the years only to find that the expiration dates were within 6 months. The store-bought kits obviously didn't leave the store with me. My only critique (directed at Taylor, not this seller) is that while the kit includes salt test instructions, it lacks the actual reagents and mixing vessel. I don't use the reagents, only strips to verify my chlorinating cell. Again, thank you for a great product and a kit that will last me two seasons. Jon US Navy Retired

Where do I start! GREAT GOOD WONDERFUL BEST
Was having a horribly frustrating problem with my pool chemistry - it hadn't any that made any sense. I bought this kit - STILL couldn't get it to make sense. Then I emailed Taylor. It was like emailing a good friend for expert advice. Fast response, great tips! Now, for the kit itself. I've read a lot of the other reviews. I'll ignore the guy who gave it one star because although he got the kit he ordered he decided later he should've ordered a different kit. I mean, if you ordered a blue shirt but decided you looked better in red, would you blame the shirt?!? Now, for the rest - this is a GREAT kit. It is detailed and accurate. It is NOT "magic". It will not say "if your pool registers x just add y". It WILL tell you how much chlorine you've got and what your pH is and total alkalinity and so on, just as it says it does. The little booklet is worth the price all by itself, if you've the patience to read it. It is NOT complicated, but neither is it "see Spot run". You'll need to be able to think in order to use it. But once you read it, you'll be able to keep your pool clean and blue and sanitized and perfect - or as close to perfect as they get! As for the actual testing - there is a color-coded chart at the top. All you need to do is follow each step as it is written. The colours are easy to see and to distinguish and you'll know just what's in your pool and the book will tell you just what your pool needs and if that isn't enough, an email to Taylor will get you great, friendly, immediate, HELPFUL advice! You can't go wrong with Taylor! I am now a customer for the life of my pool!
