Great product
Fantastic quality and it is stronger than the previous mesh one I owned. Plus it won’t rust. Great value.

Garden riddle
I bought this to riddle soil from my garden to fill a raised bed. The quality of the riddle is very good.

Not quite as good as it could be.
I thought this riddle was going to be the complete answer to all my soil issues, but alas it does not perform excellently with all soil types. Firstly, it is built well and very sturdy and looks to last for many years and with moist moist soil it works very well. This type of soil often blocks plastic or mesh type riddles which then require effort to keep the filter screen clear. Where this riddle fails is with dry compacted lumps of soil. The filter screen is a completely flat sheet of steel with holes cut in it, and what happens is that the hard lumps of soil simply skid across the surface and do not get trapped into any of the holes. With a mesh riddle and to some extent a plastic one, they operate a little like a cheese grater, with the lumps of soil being trapped by the edges of the grid allowing the lumps to be gradually broken down as the soil is moved around the riddle. The only way to break down hard lumps of soil in this riddle is to crush them with vertical pressure before swirling around the riddle. However if the holes in the filter screen were modified to have a raised edge I'm sure it would be enough to correct this shortcoming. I might try twisting the edges of a few holes with a pair of pliers to see if this suggestion works as I imagine.

Did the job perfectly
Doe the job of sifting gravel, stones and soil perfectly well. Robust and will hopefully last a very long time

Shake, rattle n’roll
Perfect tool for sorting out soil from stones and roots you don’t want. Really strong and well made, like any garden equipment - clean it well after use and store in a dry place and it should last a lifetime. Obviously don’t try and sieve out wet soil, you’ll just end up with a horrible mess, a tool and job for the sunshine.

ADDICTIVE.
I got done over with some junk top-soil full of stones, and I'm too impatient to wait for Screwfix to get one in store so I bought this... my god it's addictive. Swirling it round like panning for gold; the soil cascades out like a misty cloud of joy, leaving all the troublesome stones behind rattling with rage ahead of being bagged. I got the 9.5mm one (3/8 in old money) and by the time I've tilled it all in with some decent stuff and the existing pottery-clay, I should be ready to grow a lawn for my dogs to ruin. Seriously though this thing is really well made - sturdy and strong; worth every penny. In fact, I've yet to have a single poor product from Spear and Jackson; they're my go-to these days for the garden.

Good quality but too small
It's good for sievng soil from stones but too small for sieving soik from weeds. Good build quality though.

Very good quality item.
This was a surprise in it size & sturdy construction. I love that is stainlees steel; long lasting. The holes looked a bit large but when in use it performed very well. I was left with a lovely stoneless topsoil. I can see this a garden heirloom. It was a good buy. Pleased.

Well-made of strong durable material, will give years of service.

Finition excellente. Le seul bémol est que la hauteur pourrait être un peu plus élevée afin que lorsqu'on tamise, les écorces ou autres aient tendance à moins vite sortir par le haut.

Not too big, not too small. If it were bigger it would be too heavy to hold, and smaller too few materials could be sieved. The holes are of a size to allow small stones but not large ones, or vegetative material to passlike grass roots. Perfect for sieving lawn cuts, or going through rough virgin areas in borders. Even catches clay but does not sieve it. Excellent riddle, great materials, reputable manufacturer. Sturdy and durable, keep it clean. Stainless steel is great quality. Takes abuse.

I wasn't sure if I should purchase a riddle, but I am more than happy that I did. I have used it to plant trees and it has saved me a lot of time from manually picking rocks out of the soil. The riddle is great weeds/vegetative material from the soil. I have sifted a lot of very rocky soil using this riddle and it has held up very well. The grid is a good all purpose size for removing most rocks. The little extra cost is more than worth it.
