As someone who likes to understand what's going on with my vehicles and prefers a DIY approach to basic diagnostics, having a reliable OBD2 scanner is essential. Communication with vehicles is a bit iffy. It failed to connect 3 times then connected just fine. When it does connect it is a bit slow to navigate when you go through the menu. However during the battery monitoring testing it updates the graph in real time so not sure if its a memory issue or just the software. Tried it with my 07 silverado, 01 yukon, and a 15 ranger same issue with all vehicles. It definitely does read codes well and its quicker to get into them than using my snapon scanner just takes a couple of taps of the ok button for it to read the pcm, which is sadly still quicker than going through the menu and questioning of a high end bi-directional scan tool. Cheap and easy to learn why you have an engine light.

The Topdiag T100 OBD2 Scanner does everything I need a scanner to do for basic code reading. It connects easily to the car and gives me an error code. After reading the code, I can clear the codes or leave it alone. It has some other features, but this is the only thing I cared about in a scanner. Basically, it saves me from making a trip to the auto parts store to get a code read. I'm happy with the T100 and do not think it is worth the extra money to go to one of the higher models for my needs.

I have another basic code reader like this one that is about 20 years old. It works on older cars, but not on my newest 2023 vehicle. This one works great and the displays and values appear to be accurate. This one also has a USB port on the bottom and the instructions say it can be updated in the future if there are software changes. My old one doesn't have that and is probably much of the reason it is out of date now. For a price of 20 bucks, this new one is a good value for what it does.

If you're looking for something simple to operate, that lets you read and clear codes, with a few extras like real time data monitoring and electrical system info, then this is the one you want. I just plugged it in and it worked and I didn't need the instructions to figure out how to check codes, look at real time data like my engine RPM, turbo pressure, etc. The cable was long enough without being too long and getting tangled, and the build quality and plastic feel good in the hand.

Nice to have a code reader for when the check engine light comes on. Appreciate always having this in the glove compartment

Easy to use, just plug in and turn the car on and your reading codes. Worked fine on my car, let me read the check engine codes and has the option to reset and clear them. I like that i don't have ti pair myphne and add another app to use this. longe card and it's own screen makes it an inexpensive tool that does the basic job it wa designed for. Great addition to the garage!
