Great Tent with its Limitations
My Coleman Pop-Up just arrived and I have to say I am impressed. After reading all the negative comments about the quality and difficulty putting it away I was skeptical. However, the quality is on par for what it is intended to be, a simple easy overnight fair weather tent for families. As a boy scout leader and life long hiker and camper I have seen all manner of tents over the years (currently have 4) and all in all this is a good option for the novice or family looking for a quick easy solution to camping in a tent. I was looking for a quick easy tent for weekend camping when I cant use my hammock.PROS:Light and easy to put up. (However, not really a hiking tent. Packed, its a large circle that's about 32 inches across.)Everything you need in one package, stakes, rain fly, etc.Good Size for TWO (2) adults or One adult and One child. There is NO WAY you are getting 4 adults into this tent. Maybe 4, 5-10 year olds. Perfect for a couple of Cub Scouts.Lots of ventilation screening. This is most definitely a PRO since condensation at the peak of the tent can be a problem with multiple people in a tent.Free standing, the design allows it to be set up with no need to stake it down to make it stay up.Folds up flat with no bulky bag.CONS:You will need 2 cheap tarps. (One to go under the tent and one to cover the inside on the floor. The floor material is thinner than expected but a tarp covering the floor took care of any concerns I had about tearing the floor from the outside or having a cot rub a hole in the material. )It is short inside. You will not be standing up inside as an adult but most backpacking tents have his downfall.Addressing Other Negative Comments:Zipper Being Too Tight to Zip- Apparently people are stretching the tent out lengthwise before they put the stakes into the ground. That was the only way I could get any tension in the zipper. Simply open the tent and put the stakes in the ground exactly where the loops end up.Hard To Put Away- It comes with 4 step picture instructions that are simple and easy and in English and Spanish and there are tons of YouTube videos. Posted Comment: " Myself and 4 adult men couldn't get it back in the bag." If you by yourself let alone with 4 other adults cant put this tent back in the bag and cant follow any of these instructions without breaking the poles, you probably should not be out in the woods anyway. If a true emergency were to arise I am pretty sure you're not going to make it home.Quality: Boys and Girls it is a $70 tent, if you're climbing K-12 or camping in the Amazon this is not the tent for you. (I doubt any of the people complaining have the capability to do either anyway) If you're taking the family to the park for the weekend or your younger scouts for an overnight, its perfect. Experienced campers know how to work around these minor shortfalls so see above. In summary, its a great little tent for car camping or quick 2-3 night scout camping. Good for two adults or 4 younger kids. Know its limitations and accept them. Dont wait to set it up for the first time once you're in the woods. Practice makes perfect! Lastly, be careful when opening for the first time, it is under tension! Only let one ring go at a time, otherwise you may get a face full of tent and a fat lip to remind you to be more careful next time.Happy Camping and Leave NO Trace.

Quick Setup and Fold Down - Perfect for my beach needs!
Its a great little piece of kit in my opinion!I dont use this to "camp" per say - rather its my refuge when I go to the beach.Normally I bring a traditional tent (Coleman also coincidentally) and the setup and break down normally takes me a good 15 minutes both ways. This little guy is lighter overall - Pops open in seconds (less than 10 IMO) - and can fold back down in 10 with practice.I suggest to PRACTICE! I got this and yolo'd it at the beach and was super cool popping it open... only to have all the "cool" sucked out as I struggled to get this folded back to put into the carry case :P.You know its like walking in a awesome stride... only to trip and stumble .. yes like that! All in all its a good size - my wife and I can sit in the opening side by side to get some shade - it will BARELY fit 2 people but a great "solo" tent if you're doing a overnight thing.Inside wise its got venting to let air in at the top of the tent while being covered by a rain shroud of sorts so keeps wetness out.For my needs .. this is PERFECT... just need it for the beach.. quick setup.. quick tear down.. lightweight..All in all one of my impulse purchases that I didnt regret!

This is my 3rd one, all still in use great for it's purpose
As the title says I have 3 of these tents and still use all. I got the original one (4 person) maybe 10 years ago and it's still going strong as is my regular go to car camping tent. I got the second on (2 person) for my son, then just got a second 4 person one because he grew and wanted some more room. Now let me start this with the statement that there is no perfect tent, but there are some tents near perfect for certain conditions. This is one that hits a home run under some common uses and that's why I got this. Those circumstances would be car camping (drive up to the campsite), where you just need the tent for sleeping (not a hang out tent, though kids may), and don't want to fuss with set up or take down. This is ideal for arriving after dark or when other activities are going on once you arrive. Also ideal when you want to quickly pack up (once you learn how to do it, it's a learning curve once mastered is easy).Great car camping tent which is exactly why I got it (this is not backpacking tent). Setup is pretty much instant - including the fly in place, fold down is OK once you get the hang of it, took a few tries and a youtube vid (one fold is tricky and hard to get from the instructions). But once you get it it goes down pretty fast. Better to practice this as it would be hard to do in the field. Plenty of room for 2 people, a 3rd is OK a forth, now we are cozy.I have also just used the 2 person one inside the 4 person for a warmer winter experience as an experiment which did make a difference and it was easy to do and take down. Why the 4 stars instead of 5, well the zipper tends to catch the fabric, and the fold down does seem to have the potential of snapping of the fiber glass supports. Also there is a second inner screen door that they don't provide a way of getting just that door out of your way which would be easy as all the parts are there already, just in the wrong order. I also want to comment about rain, one can expect some rain to sometimes get in around the door. When it happens, it has always been a small amount of water by the entrance and usually there is nothing there so not a problem but something to be aware of. That said it withstood many downpours.
