Great design and function for hunting
I have more hunting knives than I care to admit. Somehow I seem to acquire them over the years, getting the latest and greatest, gifts or freebie's (Hunting Fool subscription or Rocky Mtn Elk Federation membership). The last couple years I've been using the Havalon. It's a great knife for backpacking, when weight is a major factor, but it also has many limitations. I have the Outdoor Edge replaceable blade knife as well, but I haven't used it enough to comment. I also have a handy classic folding Buck knife I used for years, but I like having a gut hook. I also have fixed blade knives and a couple have gut hooks. But honestly this Outdoor Edge model is exactly what I was looking for. What I wanted and what this knife has:- Folding knife. Just easier to store in pack or pocket...and find.- Must have a locking blade for safety- Strongly prefer orange handles for visibility in low light. Most of the time I'm gutting my deer or elk in low light or after dark with a headlamp. There's nothing worse than setting your knife down and then having it disappear in the leaves. It's easy to do.- Good solid blade for skinning or getting through hip joints, neck vertebrae, etc- Reasonable length blade for making nice clean cuts on the bigger pieces of meat- Gut hook or similar- Handle design that doesn't allow the knife to slip when wet and slimy, potentially with my hands up in the cavity of the animal where I'm going by "feel" vs seeing everything I'm cutting. That Havalon I mentioned has a crappy handle design and that blade is way too sharp to have it slip in your hand.So far it holds an edge well and seems well built. If I have issues with products I'll often come back and update my review. So if this review is still up and unchanged, then it's still meeting my expectations. This knife has met all my expectations and ideally fits my needs in a hunting knife. It's a little heavy, at least relative to my Havalon, but this will be my go-to knife unless backpacking for a serious multi-day trip.

Five Stars
Bought this as a present, the orange color is very true to the picture. Love the shade of orange, the shipping was nice and quick. The knife came packaged nicely. I wrapped it up right in the amazon box. The person this knife went to has had nothing but good things to say about it. The sharpness is great! Hes been using it awhile and said its not went dull yet. He is very happy with this knife and he owns many outdoor knives but finds himself reaching for this one more often than not. I will be purchasing again when our newest hunter in the family gets a little older.

Nice handle and sharp
I have only used this a couple of times for skinning deer but I really like it so far. It good and sharpe and it’s holding it’s edge well. The handle is nice, easy to hold onto even after my hands get wet and nasty. I haven’t used the zipper for gutting yet but it seems like it will work. I bought the blaze orange so I hopefully don’t lose it like I did my last good skinning knife.

product is as advertised
Sturdy enough to split the breastbone on small to medium deer. Blades take and hold an edge. Gutting blade is also good for making the inside leg cut when skinning and is easily kept sharp with crock sticks or steel. It's the only knife I use from field dressing through skinning,.

Great knife for Field Dressing game!
Overall this knife is great for field-dressing deer. The gut blade on it makes it virtually impossible to accidentally puncture guts while you're opening up the abdominal cavity. My only complaint is the knife doesn't hold an edge as well as I would like (as I'm not particularly great at sharpening knives).

Super Great Knife!
I have been wanting one of these for awhile and it is awesome. I have the chance to salvage an elk the other day that someone hit with a car and left. It was my first chance to use this knife and it was so awesome! It saves some serious time gutting and skinning. It's great for skinning, not just gutting. It really does save from getting hair on the meat just like they say. This is the best knife I will ever own. Good job Outdoor Edge!

Great tool
This was a gift to my son and his friend for taking me elk hunting. They both love these knives and say this is the best skinning knife they have ever used. They have used these on elk, deer, and antelope and have had great success. They stay sharp for a long time and make skinning easy compared to other knives used in the past. I would recommend this to any big game hunter or guide!

Great knife
Really good hunting knife & skinner. Like the orange color so it doesn't get lost in the leaves.
