120 PPD Commercial Dehumidifiers with Pump for Crawlspace, Sandidry 55C

I'm not an expert, and I'm not using this professionally, so I'm probably an outlier here. As regular a homeowner that just got tired of expensive garbage plastic dehumidifiers from the big box store, this is a durable heavy duty replacement. Just taking this out of the box you can tell it is more of a heavy duty unit than the competitors. I'm guessing it's intended more for contractors? But, it works great for us. After years of fighting with gravity drains that decide to fill the bucket instead of the hose, filter clogged messages & flaky units that just don't turn on when the humidity gets high, this just works. It isn't as sleek & pretty looking as the plastic ones. I just want something that works, and this does. It's only been a little while, but my wife pointed out the musty smell is already gone in our basement. I'll update or change this if I have any problems. For now, I'm loving it! Spend a little more money now, you'll be happier in the end. The control is not intuitive, but reading the instructions made it easy to understand & use. Noise is less than the units it replaced. I'm tracking energy usage, with a smart plug, and it's lower than the energy star model it replaced.

The humidifier works very well at removing moisture. The first unit I received had an issue where the condensate pump was not being triggered so water was collecting inside the unit. The printer instructions that came with the unitwere helpful in troubleshooting. The support I received via email (which is the only option) was initially slow, but in the end, the company stood by their product and I am happy with my purchase.

Unit broke after 14 months. Spent a lot of time with customer service sending in photos. Only a year warranty so the only options I had were to pay shipping there and back and hope they can repair or pay 250 for the same unit and I could by the same unit of Amazon for 330. Why would I buy another unit when the last one broke right after 12 months. Feel like they should have replaced it free or with another unit with a discount. Why would I buy the same unit and risk it again breaking just after the 12 months snd then I’m stuck in the same position

This item is of excellent quality and it REALLY dehumidifies your space powerfully. If you are using the gravity drain hose, it is important to check on your installation several times over the first week of use. There must be a sensor in the unit that shuts it off if it detects any back pressure in the drain line. So no sharp corners and no uphill bends, even small ones, in the drain tube are important.

I live in central North Carolina, and our crawlspace is not sealed. It does have a plastic ground barrier, and I have sealed all the vents with vent covers. Still, there is some very minor airflow from a couple of places where the entry points of pipes and cables (or seams around an exterior crawlspace door) aren't fully sealed. During storms we do get water fairly heavily along one foundation well (an old French drain no longer working well), and otherwise, even with the plastic ground cover, the space tends to be quite humid. I had pretty good success with a relatively low cost GE dehumidifier for a couple of years, but wanted something more efficient and easier to control. After trying and sending back two alternatives, I chose the Sandidry 55C Argendon dehumidifier and its external (CAT 5 connection) controller. So far, I'm very happy with it. It's very quiet (you can't hear it running even when you're sitting right over it in the house), changing settings is rational and as easy as can be made with the usual push-button interface, the pump mode is great, and humidity control seems excellent -- but there are some considerations to keep in mind ... (1) If you install it yourself, you need to take care to put it in a reasonable place relative to where your major humidity/water problem is, and be sure that it's level and stable. I put mine on a small (Harbor Freight) "hardwood dolly" for easy movement, shimmed it to be level, and then stabilized the wheels with some rubber "bed stoppers" so it wouldn't move around from any vibration (though it turns out to have no obvious vibration when it's running). (2) The controller works great, but unfortunately requires connection via a CAT-V cable. For now, I've just put it in a "SockitBox" weatherproof Connection Box which I leave by the exterior crawlspace door -- so it's protected and easily accessible. I'd MUCH prefer to have a Wifi or (even more preferable) Bluetooth remote connection -- and NOT with a separate phone app) to the controller. This is why I've given it only 4 stars. But for me the physical connection works well enough. (3) THIS ONE YOU NEED TO PAY ATTENTION TO: The humidity levels displayed (on the unit itself, and then also displayed on the separate controller) are not entirely accurate. This is very common with such "onboard" devices for reasons I won't go into here. In my case, humidity readings appear to be about 2-4 degrees lower than the "true" humidity (as measured by a very dependable) remote ThermoPro hygrometer placed about 10 feet away from the dehumidifier. This is pretty much a universal problem with onboard device hygrometers, and nothing to complain about. It's no big deal if you're willing to set the humidity according to what you're seeing on the unit or controller displays, and just live with any minor difference. But if you're trying to accurately achieve a certain maximum degree of humidity, you need to be willing to adjust the dehumidifier settings to appear a bit higher than your actual target (and checking this with an independent hygrometer is best). I had no problems with installation or functioning and am really happy with the dehumidifier at this point. It looks as though filter replacement (twice a year with relatively expensive, but effective, filters) is amazingly simple -- as long as you (or someone else) can just crawl to the unit, pull the old one out and push the new one in. Nothing to unscrew, clean, or mess with.

I bought one of these in 2024. It was a bit noisier than I was hoping it would be, but....it IS a commercial model. It worked great for 2 years, but it is now 2026 and the pump has quit working!! For a $500+ "investment", you would think that the unit would be a bit more durable and last longer than a regular dehumidifier, but you would be wrong. When it WAS working, I do have to say that it was absolutely fantastic, and it did its job well. But....to have the pump give out this quickly was highly disappointing. I'd been through a bunch of other (non-commercial) dehumidifiers previous to this one, and upon recommendation from a co-worker, decided to give this one a shot, thinking it would outlive all the previous ones (since it was labeled "commercial"), but no, it didn't. That being said....if mine was an isolated case and/or perhaps a "lemon" (as they say), I sure would love to hear from Argendon about their product! That was a lot of money to spend, when I could have just purchased another regular store dehumidifier.
