SOLARAY Dry Form Vitamin A, 60 VegCaps

This is the best Vitamin A supplement I could find! It has both Beta Carotene and Retynl Palmitate which makes it safer to use than pure Retinyl Palmitite supplements. The body stores excess Vitamin A in the bladder and so you can only take so much before it becomes unsafe. This is also a huge dose! Great for filling in for the deficit i've had in vitamin A per day for quite some time. Very digestible too. Does not give any type of stomach ache or smell at all. One a day is more than a enough!

Great buy, easy to take the pill is not big and there is no after taste. My skin is looking better. So I believe this product is effective.

I have a version of short bowel aka intestine and stomach loss. It comes with malnutrition and since I'm allergic to tpn I try very hard to keep myself nutritionally afloat with supplements. Seven years in I'm still here so I guess I'm doing it right. (THANKS VITALADY!) Always I couldn't find my standard dry vitamin a - which is necessary with small intestine loss or bypass because it's fat soluble and the small bowel that you're missing is responsible for fats. Anyways these are double or triple the size of biotech and these taste like sawdust or cardboard i can't tell which but I literally gag every time. However my labs are stable and I'm not having night blindness issues. So while these work and are dry they taste pretty bad even in the split second it takes to swallow them and they are fairly large in comparison to a competitor. Personally I will not be ordering these again unless I'm unable to find other dry A brands. I'll finish this bottle but the taste and size are just too much especially with dysphagia.

A lot of Vitamin A products are still formulated with soybean oil, which is really stupid, as soy is a common allergen and has no business being in supplements. I started taking a Vitamin A product 30 years ago to protect my eyes. Since I found I was sensitive to all legumes, not just soy or peanuts, I've come to rely on Solaray exclusively. Here's the odd part: over the years I've noticed that Vitamin A quells a sugar rush. Not complex carbs as in starches, but simple carbs -- sugars. That, and another odd thing. As I aged into my 50's and 60's, it has a preventive effect on incontinence. I figure it keeps me young.

I prefer the dry form of Vit. A so this product is perfect for my needs. The dosage is higher but since it is not oil based I don’t need to concern myself as much with over dosing. You can easily research why the dry form of Vit. A is preferable to the oil form. The size of the pill is small and easy to swallow.

UPDATED Nov 2018. After reading on a health group about vitamin A not being good, I stopped taking it sometime in the spring. Beginning in September I started experiencing major hair loss. I lost at least 1/3 of my thick curly hair. I can't be certain that stopping this vitamin caused this, but I am being proactive and started taking it again. I will update again to see if this helps. This has helped my dry eyes a lot. I had to stop wearing my contacts a few years ago because my eyes were so dry. While it hasn't gotten my eyes back to "normal", it does allow me to wear my contacts on the weekends.
