Excellent value compared to other brands as this is well made. Around 5 lbs so maybe not long hike but more camping or car camping. Very sturdy as bottom grate is permanently attached and folds down to help lock grill in place. Bottom fire grate is nice thickness and comes with a nice zippered canvas pouch that everything easily fits in. Nothing to really put together just unfold and put top cooking grate on and slide ash pan in. Yes it comes with blue plastic protection on metal to protect the mirror like finish from scratches. Pay attention to the measurements and weight of this as it is not tiny or light. Highly recommend

Burns hot and really works well even in windy environments but is kinda heavy for backpacking and uses fuels fast.
