Trusted Hard Water Solution with Proven Long-Term Performance
I have been using D’Cal hard water softener products for the last 6 years, and my experience has been consistently positive. The unit works reliably for a full year, after which I replace it with the same brand because it delivers dependable results and overall satisfaction.I have two overhead tanks of 1000 litres each and use one D’Cal unit per tank. This setup effectively reduces hard water impact across taps, pipes, and bathroom fittings throughout the house. Scaling is visibly reduced, and maintenance becomes much easier. The product offers a simple and practical solution for hard water problems, requires minimal effort, and provides good value for money considering the performance and protection it offers over the year.A dependable choice for anyone looking for an easy and effective way to manage water hardness at home.

Expensive Product - Works better for higher TDS levels
Backstory:============Well water. Tank capacity: 750 litres. Filled every two days. TDS: 150-170. Not too high. But still enough to cause scaling issues in the bathroom and washbasins. As We boil the water for drinking, a visible layer would get deposited at the bottom of the vessel every time which was difficult to scratch off.Why did I pick this water softener?============================After doing extensive research on the internet and inquiring locally I found out that for whole house water softening needs, a resin and salt based filtration system was needed which would cost around 30-50k to setup. That's when I came across this. The reviews looked promising. And it was claimed to last a year. I thought of giving it a try as I estimated, given the cost of 2.7k, this would last atleast 6 months, as my TDS level was low. As the actual chemicals used in the product are not mentioned anywhere and claimed to be "patent pending", I did a quick search on the web and ascertained these to be some natural or artificial zeolites like Sodium Aluminosilicates that have water softening capabilities. These bind with the calcium and magensium ions and precipitate which makes them lose their adhesive nature to objects like tiles or accessories. What went wrong?=================I have a 750 litre water tank that's filled to the top every 2-3 days. Before dropping this in to water I weighed its dry weight. It was 681 gms. (See images) After dipping in water, the weight went up to 772 gms. Dropped in the tank that was already full. After 4 days I pull it out and weighed again. 675 gms. Hmmm.... And there was only a one time tank refill in between. For approximately 1500 litres and 150 TDS, it used around 97 gms of the media inside. Not considering the weight of the plastic casing, this whole stuff inside would get used up in 10000 litres approx. Or in about 25 days considering my tank refill frequency of every alternate day. True to that estimates it got used up in not 25 days but even less. I noticed the scaling issues and messy hair after bath coming back. When checked, saw it floating on the top. It means, the media is exhausted.Did it work?==============It did work while it lasted. The scaling came down, and the water felt smooth on the hair. Soap scums also had reduced. While boiling the calcium and magensium ions would precipitate and turn the water milky white (see images). Later when cooled, they would precipitate as a bottom layer of crystals. (see images). Earlier it would stick to the sides of the vessel as scales which had to be scratched off.Do I recommend this? ( !! Imp: Please read my update below)====================From my experience , 2.7k was a high price to pay. They have quoted saying the actual price is around 4k and they are selling it at a discount in amazon. Given my scenario of only 150 TDS and 750 ltr tank, even if it lasted 6 months, I would have given it 5 stars. But it didn't. If you have higher TDS or a higher capacity tank, then beware, this may not last the claimed 10-12 month at all. I lost my money.Added images substantiating my claim. Please see for yourself and decide.----------------------------Update: 18th Dec, 2019----------------------------Looks like this review blew up and bubbled to the top reviews of this product and attracted much negative publicity. The manufacturer was trying to contact me since last six months for a refund and to know what exactly happened. I hadn't got time to look back in to this review and left it as it is. I had painstakingly recorded all the parameters to add to the review that you see above.I was contacted by Uday from D'Cal team and he was kind enough to explain in detail what could have gone wrong with my product. Apparently, as my TDS was much lower (150) than what is typically seen (above 500) the water could have turned mildly acidic after all the calcium/magnesium ions were neutralized and this acidic water might have eaten away in to the D'Cal media inside. I need to do a detailed lab water testing to ascertain the exact chemical composition of my well water.I could see many verified positive reviews later for this product where it is seen working for much higher TDS levels and for a much longer time period. Mine could be a corner case.Kudos to the D'Cal team for getting in touch with me and offering me full refund. I didn't request nor needed a refund as I had bought it more than six months ago and had forgot about it. Appreciate the effort in keeping up with the customer experience. I was in no way compelled to update my review. I'm upping my rating solely for all the positive reviews that this product garnered and for the excellent product support from D'Cal/Befach.

Best Water Softner
I’ve been using the D’Cal Hard Water Softener for a while now and it really makes a difference. It’s very easy to install and doesn’t require any maintenance, which is a huge plus. I noticed that my bathroom fittings and taps don’t get as many white stains as before, and the water feels much gentler on the skin and hair. My hair fall has reduced and my skin doesn’t feel as dry after a shower.Another thing I like is that it works for the whole house, so I don’t need to worry about scaling in pipes or appliances. The fact that it’s food-grade and lasts for a year adds extra peace of mind.Overall, this is a simple and effective solution for hard water problems, especially if you want a hassle-free option without the need for salts, electricity, or frequent upkeep.

Check the conditions before purchase
It's been around two weeks that I have been using this product. When I first came across it, I did some research and was very sceptical about whether it will work or not. Their team was helpful in that they made me understand the concept of how it works (which made me wanna try the product). So let me begin with that.Working:This product does not FILTER anything. The hardness of water is because of two salts (calcium & magnesium) which basically stick on different surfaces and make them go bad (like metal, skin, hair, etc). This product coats these two salts with a coating because of which they loose their stickiness. And hence indirectly turns the water SOFT. The TDS of the water will not go down, nor will the taste change.Life of the filter: They say that a single filter will work for a 1500ltr tank for about 10 months. Which is actually great if you think about it. However, my tank size is around 3250ltr. Their rep told me that I could use just single filter if I maintain atleast half tank water at all times. This is of course very difficult to do, so I bought two of these instead. I am yet to test how long it lasts.Effectiveness: I tested the water after 24 hours (as they ask you to) and I found some difference for sure. It wasn't as much as I expected it to be but definitely (refer the image). There was still some floating 'oil' kind of patches on the clean water. However, it has been a nightmare for me to provide 24 hours for every cycle of water to get filtered. More often than not the water gets finished during the day time, when I have to replenish the tank and use of the same hard water for household and personal use. Also, I still continue to feel the stickiness of the water in my hair. And it still is hard (so I don't get any foam from the soaps)TDS: One of the key takeways that I had from the reviews I read was that this product works better for higher TDS. However, they don't mention what do they mean by higher TDS or if there is any upper limit for that. I found out that the TDS for my water is 4900 and in no way are these two filters helping me out. I am not sure if this is even recommended for this high TDS (or if I need more filters to cater to the high TDS).Conclusion: I definitely see it as a promising product because of the technique they are using. However, given the practicality of time taken to refill the tank vs time taken to make water soft and the extreme high TDS levels has made me disappointed with the product. I was wondering if I should give it a 2 star or 3 (because of the unique technique) but have given 2 because I think my 6k rupees weren't spent wisely.

Simple and elegant solution for hard water problems
This product promises to do one thing: keep your bathroom/kitchen fittings free from lime scale deposits (that nasty white deposits of calcium and magnesium). D’Cal Fulfills it’s promise stunningly with a fraction of cost of water softner systems like Kent, Eureka Forbes etc.ABOUT MY BORE WATER:====================My bore water has so much hardness that last time when I cleaned the overhead tank, I was able to scrap out salt deposits close to 2mm at the bottom of the tank. Lime scale deposits even after 1 usage, to an extent I gave up cleaning. Water stored in water heater for few days have rotten egg smell. If you are expecting to bring your water TDS down or make water sweet (like RO) or soft, D’Cal is not going to solve it for you. However, if you have problem with salt deposits in bathroom/kitchen fittings, tiles etc and want to keep these fittings shine and like-new, you will NOT be disappointed.INSTALLATION:=============1: D’CAL INSTALLATION is very simple and straight forward, just drop the product in your tank. It gets submerged and settles under the bottom of the tank. As per the manufacturer, the product may come up and float in few months, if it floats on top-surface of the water but still submerged, this product is still functional. However if it floats on top of the water like thermocol or wood, then it’s time to replace (could last 10 months depending on usage).2: PRE-FILTER: Along with this, I installed a pre-filter (brought from AliExpress) that removed the particles that are smaller than 40microns, see link below. This is also maintenance free, they claim no need to replace filter for 30Years.3: CLEAN DEPOSITS: If you have been using hard water for sometime, then your tiles/sink/bathroom fittings must have been containing lot of deposits. You must clean them to really see the impact of the product. I brought the below product from Herbo. I used it to clean all the existing limescale deposits. D’Cal also sells similar cleaner, which I have not tried.RESULTS:========I was AMAZED with its results, within 12hours of dropping the product in the overhead tank, I started to see the difference. After few days of usage:- water feels soft, there is a notable difference in water quality during bathing- lime scale deposits are almost gone (like 95%) in bathroom tiles, kitchen sink, bathroom fittings.I ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT.Even if this lasts for 6months, for the cost of buying a full scale water softner, you can buy 1 each for 12 years, not including the hassle of maintenance and electricity.========Herbo Pest BlueOxy Tap Cleaner Hard Water Soap Scum Spray Bottle with one Cellulose Cleaning Pads, 500ml https://www.amazon.in/dp/B01LWJMAK6Wheelton Water Pre Filter (WWP-02S) Carry Two Wipers Euro-standard Brass 30Years lifitime Purifier whole house 1/2"&3/4"&1 "https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/bOLmAloM

Unbiased review /Vague claims / Safety concerns
Bought it week back after going through various claims and due to ease of installation and use.Does it work? : I have installed it in 1000 Lt sump tank. Done boiling test after 24hr, found no significant difference. Though it is too early to say. I am regularly watching and will update in future. My water useage is 400ltr per dayThe thing I am concern is due to various vague and misleading claims by the company. As follows:Safety: It is important aspect as we are using it in drinking water. Company says Food grade material/chemical is used but there is no mention of ingredients/chemical/proper mechanism used any where in product or company website. Though company says there is lab test report available in website but I searched their website and didn't find any and again in website some vague/ambiguous details was there but no test report.I contacted company for test report through their website but till now I got no response.Patent claim: Company says it is patented technology. There is Indian patent no. also mentioned in product that gave me some hope as patent have all details. I searched for that patent in Indian patent official website and found that patent but but but... again ... Patent however was in company name but it is not for water softening/conditioning but patent is granted for design of outer plastic casing. So basically company claim for patented technology for water softening/conditioning is misleading. Patent is only for design of outer plastic casing .After few research I found that the chemical use might be some poly phosphate but than company should mention it clearly as there is no secret about it. In my view it is sustained release poly phosphate and in that case rate of release is very important as I read in one review that the unit got bursted and there is abrupt realease of chemical which caused burning and skin rashes.Cost: It looks cheap but it is very costly (Taking into account reviews majority states it will not last for 1year )Conclusion:I am consern with safety and chemical used as it may cause long term problem. Pl specify clearly in each product.Company should clearly mention ingredient/chemical used. Why there is secrecy if they claim patented technology (which is false claim)Patent as company claim is not for water softening material used but only for design of outer plastic casing.I found it innovative idea and I appreciate but why vague and misleading claims. If your product works nobody can stop it but false claims make it fishy.Last but not the least: I have gone through all reviews of the product. For some it worked for some it didn't but many positive review I found are not purchase verified reviews and seems as if planted to boost the product. However, I will surely update and upgrade my review based on my experience of use and satisfaction. And if I get answers for my conserns.
