So far so good!
Easy to install. The template works great as long as you use screws to hold it up. Goes up and down smoothly (I used a drill for that).

Installation is finicky with exposed joists (no ceiling), quality is great
This lifting platform is made up of robust components that provide for a strong and durable rack. It can hold a lot of materials, but be sure not to go beyond a safe weight for your application. The mounting holes need to be lined up properly in order for the rack to be level and to raise and lower smoothly. That is difficult to achieve if you don't have a dry walled ceiling. You will need to somehow attach the template to the ceiling joists, and triple check to make sure everything is lined up right. Don't skimp on this step, or it won't function right. Once it's installed, this thing is great!

It does work, kind of.
I bought this product to hang from the ceiling joists of my garage. I use it to store a large Curt hitch carrier and a large Yakima four bike carrier. Pros. It does work. Cons. It is virtually impossible to get it level. The hanging template for installation is hard to use, its main drawback being that it is too flimsy. I can see how the template would work better for a dry-walled ceiling where you can tape it more securely. It does not work well for an open joist ceiling. You will end up stapling or screwing it in place and it won't quit be right--a little sag. The instructions say that your joists must be 48 inches on center. Mine are but the platform is not level. I would say it has close to a three to four inch list side to side. It seems that the main problem with leveling is how the cords actually wrap around the axle and that on an open joist ceiling it is hard to get the template perfect. I would work better is there were guides for the cords when they wrap around the axle and the template was able to be securely fastened and less flimsy. The other problem is the mesh platform. It could be heavier duty, but works. I put OSB on mine to firm it up a bit. Like I said, it works, kind of. Would I recommend it. Yes, but with caveats. For what I use mine for, the price was right and I have a convenient place to store two very bulky items, and for that I can ignore the annoyances. An added note: you will want a drill to move it up and down. Hand cranking it takes a while.

Pay attention to the measurements on the graphics
I love the weight of the braces, the cables and cable stops, and the quality of the expanding bar. When it was offered to me, I was very excited and ordered it right away. After moving some hanging lights and taking measurements in my garage, realized that it just wouldn't work. Since I received it, the manufacturer has added (unless I just missed it the first time through) some extra graphics to explain the limitations. My garage ceiling is 12-foot high and the mounts for the long support pole is about 70-inches. I can't fit that width in between the garage door support channels and the center chain without the cables rubbing on those items when I let it down. At that 12-ft height, it wouldn't even reach low enough to be practical. So, if you can fit within the parameters set out in their graphics, this is a high-quality item that will do the job. I have to give mine to a friend.
