A decent cheap upgrade.
I bought this cartridge for my ion turntable as I just got myself a better turntable. I thought i would make a little project of it and give my old one to a friend.Set up is simple but you do need to be careful of the wires. It clips in nicely and feels secure. As for the sound. It does improve from this cartridge, the sound is warmer and clearer. The only thing id did have to do was tuern the bass down a bit and it sounds great, not taudiophile quality but definitely good enough for someone starting with vinyl or someone who is not too picky.

Own 2 of these....
I've now bought two of these Banpa BP2ATC cartridges to use with lower priced "Bush" brand turntables; one a suitcase player, the other more of a 'console type device. Both use the same Crosley style 'Skywin' turntable mechanism, and both were fitted with the cheap clone Chuo Denshi CZ800 cartridges. They didn't sound 'too' bad, but having now replaced both with the Banpa cartridge, they sound far clearer, and more detailed, and on the larger 'console' player, the bass definition is much more detailed and extended; being a very full and rounded sound. The Banpa BP2ATC cartridges also track far better than the Chuo Denshi cartridge and the clones; the Banpa will track modern 180 gram releases without skipping, which the original Chuo Denshi and clones can't!!However, my primary use for these record players is with older 50's/60s jazz and swing records, where the ceramic cartridge 'sound' is far more faithful to the original players that the records were made for, and here, these cartridges excel...This modern Banpa BP2ATC is a modern 'remake' of the classic 70s BSR SC12M ceramic cartridge which was used in so many music centre's back in the 70s, and has fortunately retained that classic BSR sound: But.... you have the change the supplied stylus (or needle), for a new-old-stock original BSR-ST17 stylus to get the best and proper results (available on the famous online auction shop... for about £8 ). The supplied stylus is a very poor copy, and the 'diamond' LP tip is a Ruby, and the 78 side is just a Sapphire LP stylus, and so sounds very noisy on a 78...With a true BSR stylus, then this cartridge sounds excellent, and plays LPs, 45s, and 78s superbly wellSo, the Banpa is a great cartridge, but the supplied stylus is, well, rubbish! It'll do until you get a genuine BSR replacement, and then you'll really hear it at it's best!!

Good cartridge for the money, but supplied stylus is NOT 78rpm compatible
The cartridge is a modern clone of a well-respected BSR cartridge - the SC12. It takes thirty seconds to fit and is a simple drop-in replacement. The supplied stylus is, however, mislabelled - the LP side is indeed a diamond LP stylus, but the 78 side is a sapphire LP stylus, not a 78rpm stylus, and it will not play your 78s properly. It may damage them.If you're not going to be playing any 78s this isn't an issue but if you are, be aware and note that you will need to buy another stylus (you want part number 274-DS73) which may end up costing you more than the cartridge. Combined, it's still a cheap option for reasonable quality casual 78rpm listening, but nonetheless, misleading advertising is misleading advertising.

Banpa Cartridge
The media could not be loaded. Fantastic cartridge for my suitcase record player, so much clearer sound. This is a lifesaver for these types of entry level turntables, highly recommended!

Acceptable budget cartridge providing separate 78 rpm stylus.
This can be used as a direct replacement of the cartridge in many 'briefcase'-style budget record players. It may be necessary to slightly pinch in the push-on connectors on the record player, as they need to be a firm fit. It has a nice bright sound. Other comment is that this cartridge is a little heavier than the single stylus type it's often used as a replacement for (for those wanting to play 78s with the correct stylus). This will increase the (already rather high) tracking pressure. Not too bad if you're playing 78s, but not so good when you're playing vinyl records. (It's best not to play favourite/valuable vinyl records on those type of record players anyway.)
