Disappointing and Overrated โ More Style Than Substance : only for beginners
As a landscape designer, I found The RHS Practical House Plant Book to be overrated and lacking in technical depth. Despite being associated with the Royal Horticultural Society, the content feels immature and overly simplified, making it unsuitable for anyone looking for serious insight into plant species, potting systems, or long-term indoor plant care. The hardcover print quality is underwhelmingโthe images are small, poorly reproduced, and lack the clarity needed for proper identification or study. The plant descriptions are printed in very small text, making them difficult to read unless you're in direct lightingโeven for someone without vision issues. While the book cover is glossy and appealing, it masks the shallow, catalogue-like content within. This feels more like a decorative coffee table book than a practical guide. It may serve a beginner looking for quick plant ideas or styling inspiration, but it fails to deliver anything meaningful for those seeking technical or horticultural knowledge. There are far better resources availableโonline or in printโthat offer clear, high-resolution imagery, expert advice, and detailed care instructions. Unfortunately, this book leans heavily on visual appeal without backing it up with substance. Now that books on Amazon are non-returnable, I highly advise Amazon to require authors and publishers to share a few sample pages for buyers to preview. There is a clear gap between the description of the book and the actual content received, and this lack of transparency affects the buyerโs experience.

Bien
En cuanto a contenido bien, aunque podian haber puesto mas plantas. Lo que no me gusto fue la calidad del papel y el formato reducido. Se queda un poco pobre.

CANNOT GET BETTER THAN RHS
I am a retired horticulturist and have never found better than RHS. My disabilities currently prevent me from doing any gardening so I have taken to house plants. A complete novice I have learnt all I need to keep what visitors to my home say are garden centre quality plants. All thanks to the help from these books which not only show you how to display them at their best and how they should be propagated but most importantly the conditions they need. From lighting to feeding, watering and misting. I even purchased the other House Plant version of this book to a friend starting out and looking to improve the quality of her plants. She is also finding it extremely useful. I would definitely recommend to the new as well as experienced plant hobbyists and professional. It is impossible however experienced you are to know everything about every plant so it is great to have his book at hand as a quick and easy reference guide!

Libro meraviglioso
