SEGA Mega Drive Classics (PS4)

One of the best games since growing up I’m still enjoying it

Not much to say. It's Sega classics. Mega drive had some of the best titles ever and if you were lucky enough to own the Megadrive you definitely want this. Nostalgia at its finest. Whichever game was your favourite I'm sure it's on this great all in one disc

I've had a lot of fun playing this game collection, having grown up with a Sega Master System, but never having owned a Sega Mega Drive. By far the games I've played the most is Shining Force and Shining Force II, which are RPG games.If I've any criticism, I'd say that there's an awful lot of beat 'em up games, like multiple versions of Streets of Rage, Golden Axe and also Altered Beast, which aren't very interesting, are very repetitive, and so don't hold up very well today gameplay wise.Another thing that doesn't hold up is the lack of saves on most games, if you die and have used up all your continue credits, then you have to go right back to the beginning again. That gets tiring very quickly, especially as I die more often as I don't have the reactions of a 12 year old anymore!Even with that criticism, if you're up for some gaming nostalgia, it's great value for money.

It's an ok collection. Could have been much better, as 90% of the games on here have been on every other Sega collection. They obviously have a LOT of licensing issues because most of the games people actually want have never seen the light of day since they came out 20+ years ago.The concept and layout is good, but again lacking; I like that it's a cosy, nostalgic bedroom that you can navigate through, but there are pretty few options. In fact the more I think about it the more this game is missing, they really could have done an incredible amount more with it. One thing that's a little disappointing is the games are just..."there", on the shelf. You can't do anything with them, look at them, there's no manual, nothing.The big thing this game lacks is *unlockables*. Not just games but things to add to the bedroom hub, I mean imagine the possibilities if you could win accessories and decorations for the room. There could be *tons*: play Sonic, beat a level and get a Sonic poster. There could be an audio player where you play won soundtracks. Character figures, display shelves... big missed opportunity.The game's performance is an issue, too - even on these really old Mega Drive games there is lag, for example take a hit in Sonic and it slows down and the sound suffers. This is especially noticeable in multiplayer.Big fans of Sega, I guess you can't go wrong, but it's missing a lot. Online Multiplayer on Mega Drive games is really cool to be honest.
