this is for heat, not a smoke alarm, i fitted this just outside of the kitchen because i was tired of the smoke alarm going off every time someone had toast ,so i fitted a heat detector instead

Say Goodbye to Annoying False Alarms in the Kitchen with this Heat Detector
When I had the opportunity to try out the Sensero Battery Operated Heat Detector, I leapt at the chance because I had never considered a heat detector instead of a smoke detector before. My kitchen smoke detector is often a major annoyance, sounding off with normal cooking. Would a heat detector still provide peace of mind but without the annoyance of false alarms? Installation and Activation: Installation is straightforward with the included base plate, screws, wall plugs, or double-sided adhesive tape. Rather than having to remove a battery isolation tab, it is activated via a small on/off switch on the rear. Don’t forget to activate it! Testing is simple with a central 'test/silence' button that emits a series of loud chirps when pressed, indicating functionality. I mounted it using screws, and the device fitted very easily to the base plate after fixing it up. Battery and Functionality: The device is powered by a non-replaceable lithium battery advertised to last 10 years. I far prefer such units with a 10-year battery life than those that use regular PP3 (9V) batteries, which don’t last nearly as long and randomly beep at all hours once they start to run down. You know you should replace the battery, but you are not sure which of the alarms is running down, or in the early morning, you find the unit and "temporarily" disconnect it until later, then months go by, and it is still waiting for a fresh battery! This is even worse in the kitchen because, with regular false alarms during cooking, it is so tempting to disconnect the battery! This Sensero Heat Detector seems the perfect solution for kitchens as it detects heat rather than smoke, preventing false alarms from cooking activities but ready should your cooking try to become a bonfire! Build Quality and Value: Its build quality seems very good. It is a sealed unit, and once the battery runs down, you just replace it with a new unit. Yes, it is another example of our modern throwaway society, but 10 years is a decent life for such a device, and I rate it as high value for money. Overall Recommendation: Overall, at the listed £12.98, I find the Sensero heat detector to be great value and an essential addition for kitchen safety. If you want to retain the sensitivity of a smoke detector in your kitchen, I would buy one of these as well. A belt-and-braces approach, knowing that even if I temporarily disconnect my smoke detector, the heat detector will still be there, helping to look after our safety. A tip: a heat detector is not a substitute for smoke detectors in bedrooms, etc. I would still urge you all to have working smoke detectors in your home as well as this heat detector.

Easy to install and great peace of mind
Works really well and was very easy to set up. It’s a compact unit, looks fine on the ceiling and doesn’t feel cheap. The built-in 10-year battery is a big plus – no need to worry about changing batteries every year. Test button is simple to use and it’s not overly sensitive for normal cooking. A good, no-fuss heat alarm for extra safety around the home.

No more false alarms when cooking
The days of just a single plain smoke alarm in the house are now long gone and it is recommended to have minimum of a smoke alarm on each floor and a heat alarm in each cooking location. The advantages of the heat alarm are that it won't go off with normal cooking smoke, so less false alarms. This set enhances that more by having both of the 2 alarms being interlinked. When one goes off the other will too, alerting everyone in the house to an issue. Having had these installed for nearly a month, I can attest to the heat alarm not setting off the alarm when cooking and really do wonder why it took years to get to this point. After all, most smoke alarm only households have the batteries removed because of cooking false alarms. In the month so far I have not had a single one (false or real - thankfully). On the subject of batteries, these come with sealed for life batteries that should last the 10 year life of the alarm. Again I see this as a good thing as far too many alarms with replaceable batteries are in use well past their use-by date and are no longer effective because of this. The only thing missing for me is a Wi-Fi connection to an app, so I get an alert on my phone as well as the audio alert when the alarm goes off.

Very easy to fit and loud alarm.
This is a good alternative (or addition) to a smoke alarm for a kitchen or workshop. It won't give false alarms from things like burnt toast as it only reacts to high temperatures caused by fires in a room. The unit has a sealed 10-year battery so would need complete replacement at the end of its life. But for the modest price of just under £15 the value is good for a potential life saver. It's very easy to fit, coming with two ways of fixing to a ceiling, with screws and plugs, as well as a self adhesive pad. I used the pad for a speedy attachment and am satisfied with the firmness of the fix. Using the two screws and plugs wouldn't have been a problem as the unit is very lightweight and wouldn't pull plugs out of a plasterboard panel. Regular testing is easy, just by pressing the central button with a broom handle or finger. The instructions are written in clear English and give plenty of advice for location of fixing, as well as safety suggestions about evacuation planning in the event of a fire. Packaging, instructions and the product are all marked with both UKCA and CE logos to certify that safety testing has been carried out to the required national standards. I recommend this.

Does what it should at a reasonable price
The alarm comes in a cardboard box which includes:- - The alarm unit itself in a plastic bag for protection - A baseplate which can be permanently attached to a suitable surface. The alarm unit then twists onto the baseplate - A double sided sticky pad for attaching the baseplate to a surface without screws - Two screws and wall plugs for attaching the baseplate to a surface if this method is preferred - An instruction manual The battery is not removable but the alarm has an on/off switch on the base. This is set to off when shipped and needs to be turned on when installing. In testing, the alarm behaved as expected and gave a suitably deafening alert. Although most fire alarms look the same, this one does look relatively smart in my opinion. Its worth noting that this is a heat alarm and not a smoke alarm. Whilst they both detect fires, there are differences between them. Smoke alarms tend to be able to detect fires sooner and are used wherever possible. In kitchens where it can routinely be smoky, bathrooms where it can be steamy and attics where it can be dusty, smoke alarms are prone to many false alerts. In these circumstances heat alarms are preferred. Overall this looks to be a good unit and is highly recommended, although I cant comment on whether the battery life of 10 years is correct.

Seems good 👍🏼
Seems ok, not needed to test yet so don’t know how sensitive it is for detection. Easy to install, good price, a little smaller than I expected.
