Does the job. Turns out i don’t need a straight edge that often. And i have a track saw. But i got this because that way, i can cut straight with other tools. And there’s tons of accessories i might get into later. Good stuff

You need to cut wood straight. This will let you do it.I thought it was a gimmick when I first heard of stuff like this, and man was I wrong. I use it all the time now. It is to a circular saw what a ruler is to a pencil.Positives for this particular one: the stuff above. It is really light. And the actual measuring ruler comes in handy more often than you’d think. Negatives: it goes down below plywood more than you’d expect, meaning you have to juggle the wood a bit carefully. It’s not a t-square, so it’s doesn’t make itself exactly square without you nudging it. And while it *can* be used on much smaller wood, it’s really awkward to. So the smaller versions of this are better for smaller jobs.But overall, yeah, my cuts no longer look like they’re made by a small child with a crayon.

The reviews are mixed on this one and the biggest issue I’ve seen is it doesn’t set itself at a perfect 90 degree angle which is absolutely true. You’ll need a speed square or measure twice to manually set the perfect angle. For me the speed square works like a charm.I don’t have a table saw so this has been a valuable addition to my tools. I can set it in place and use my jigsaw to carefully get perfect cuts on wood, tile and so on. No issues with the grip, the 36” one is a little cumbersome on shorter cuts, and it feels like it’ll last for some time if I take care of it.If you don’t have a speed square and are just starting out, get one! It’ll change your life. No kidding!
