I just replaced my 10 yro "smart" EV recharger that was long ago not so smart. The brain fried a few years ago and I was using it as a pure charger. I just took ownership of a new 100% EV and had planned when I did that to replace my home charger. First I watched some very informative video reviews, and since the charger is situated outdoors I wanted a unit that is rated excellent in extreme weather. I picked the Grizzl-e because of its very good reputation, it's high marks in value and most of all its simplicity. It's a box, it charges my car. The car itself has all kinds of settings to schedule the charge and watch it on my phone - so having the charger have that capability is redundant. Installation was a snap. Since this unit plugs into the existing receptacle, I only had to bolt the frame to the wall and place the unit into the frame.... done. It took less than an hour removing the old unit and finish installing the Grizzl-e. If there is one negative issue - which I noticed in another review, they do kind of skimp on the length of the plug line. You have to make sure you mount the metal wall frame close enough to the receptacle. My tip is to plug the unit in (w/breaker off) and see what kind of clearance you have before marking the wall for the screws. Bottom line: Very happy with the purchase, it's exactly what I was looking for.

Day 1: Installation was straightforward and painless. Took about 30 minutes. Default setting is 40amp which turns into 9kw charging speed. This model is super simple, no app, no wifi, just plug and play. Will update this review in a while after several charges to provide more information.

When it worked, it worked just fine. It's everything you would want out of a basic level 2 charger without any of the gimmick "smart features" the more expensive chargers have. It worked flawlessly for over a year, it even survived a month of constant rain and it still worked through rain and frost, then after the weather became good again, it just stopped functioning and the light on it that tells you the fault didn't work. I filed a warranty claim, customer service got back to me quickly but ignored my claim about none of the lights flashing, I replied, and I haven't heard since. According to their own website, they're supposed to send me a new unit under warranty and because this isn't a fault with the breaker, home wiring, or the car, but they've been silent. I'll gladly change my review to a 5 star since this is a 5 star product when it works, but it seems like the only way to get these companies to stand by their product is to leave them some negative publicity on their product page. Update 2/23/23 They claim they were delayed due to a Canadian holiday but now they're shipping me a new unit. I don't know if it's because I left a negative review or not, but they're finally standing by their warranty so I'm changing my review to a 5 star like I said since this is a good charger when it's not dead.

So far, so good. I’ve had a terrible time with chargers. The first vendor ripped me off for about 1,000 dollars. This item came in time, my husband read the directions and installed it without a problem. The car was charged when he installed it so I didn’t know if it would work. I don’t drive a lot but since installing it I have charged successfully three times. It’s faster than the last one, it worked well. My husband had no problems with the instructions and placed it right where the other charger was and it all worked out perfectly. It’s new, so I can’t speak to longevity but fingers crossed 🤞

The classic charger or dumb charger is just that; no wifi or any other smarts. It does one thing and that’s to deliver power to charge my EV. As far as all of the bells and whistle that other charger have, my EV can provide those same functions. So why get smart charger. I guess if want to check the status of your charger but that wasn’t a priority for me. This charger is built very well and is solid. The housing is a robust metal housing and well sealed. It was easy to remove the cover to gain access to hardwire this charger. I hardwired the charger because it would have been the same amount of work to wire a NEMA 14-50 plug from my circuit breaker box. I used 6awg thwn-2 wire (red, black and green). I found ring terminals that would fit the grizzl-e. Used 1 inch water tight electrical conduit and put it all together. Very pleased with my purchase and have had no issues. Also it’s actually smaller than I initially thought which was a pleasant surprise. The unit is mounted on the outside of my house and is exposed to the elements.

My reason to prefer this charger is simplicity and being non-smart. I have 30 A breaker in garage. The current limit is set by onboard DIP switches one time during installation and it is done, no need to worry about any smart feature. It just simply works when you plug it. Most smart features like time and current can be controlled from the car itself so no need have a smart charger. Other chargers require their phone app to configure even basic settings like current limit.

We had a Siemens Smart Charger for years. We have 24 Solar panels and battery back up, therefore we can charge any time of day, so there was no need for a smart charger. So the day our Siemens Smart Charger went bad we ordered the plug and play Grizzl-E. Not as pretty but It is rugged built like a tank and does the job anytime day or night. We have Toyota BZ and a Prius Prime, and we charge several times a week. We love it when relatives come over to visit and ask if they can charge their EV's too. Probably going to order another, so we can be ready in case. Yes we recommend the Grizzl-E

Super quality. Excellent packing. I like that it just charges and does not have WiFi since most EV's can provide you charging info. Also the cables are already installed so it's just plug and play. It charged up a 2024 Chevy Equinox EV as its first duty with no problems.

I bought this item and shipped it to UAE as per Q&A seller mentioned it works in this region. Installed it and fault beeping kept on buzzing. I contacted the manufacturer united chargers and this is the exact message I got: 'We going to launch European version of grizzl-e closer to October of this year. Current North American versions of Grizzl-e will not work on your power type!' Totally returning the Item, please guys don't fall into this waste of time, they buy bunch of them and resell in different market just to make extra money disregarding the safety aspect for end user this is a high voltage item being sold without provisions if it works in region electrical conditions. Not sure how amazon allows such bad act

We wanted to get a reliable EV charger for our garage. The Grizzl-E Level 2 EV Charger fit the bill perfectly. We had a 32 amp line install in the garage for level 2 charging. We have been using this charger for both our EV and our hybrid. We prefer this charger over the smart chargers because of price and the need to install a wi-fi in our garage. We rely on our vehicle charging software to schedule the time of day for the charging. The charger was easy to mount and plug in. The only weak spot is the hose holder which was poorly designed. Half the time the hose would fall off. We used a indoor vacuum hose plastic holder for hanging the charger cord.

Have had this installed for over a year now and it's great, have had no issues with it and works exactly as advertised. I did buy an extra heavy duty holder for the cord because the charger is installed outside on an exposed wall and it was worth it. The extra holder has a bigger hook as well as being heavier plastic but the one it came with would be fine for inside or a protected area outside.
